Been driving every day for over 20 years and nothing has happened. Sure, they drive in a different way, with a different mindset. That´s what you have to learn and adjust to, as you are in their country. You can't come here and expect everyone to drive like in the US, UK or like you want.
Nothing has happened in 20 years ? Check the road accident/death statistics and have a re-think!
I expect nothing less than to encounter atrocious driving on a daily basis.
Anyway, why are you telling me this ?

I assumed, that was what you would say. It´s people like you that have xenophobia, as you believe that all people in a country is out for you, what you bad or coming for you. In reality, you sound like you are almost afraid of your own shadow. You probably also hear them talking behind your back, and children are pointing at you when you walk by, right?
Lots of unfounded assumptions there !
But you forgot the bit about being afraid to drive here as they're all seemingly out to kill me.....Oh
wait .....😁

OH Dear. you appear to have mistaken me for someone who gives a monkey's "polite phrasing " of your opinion !😁

Seems that you are just too deep into the bitter thoughts of how much Thailand is chasing the foreigners, that you lost clear vision. It´s sad when stuff like that happens to people. Just remember one thing in your posts that bears you deeply rooted bitterness. It´s foreigners that has been behaving bad, breaking the laws and so on that made the crackdowns you are referring to. Not the other way around.
No, it's xenophobia that's fuelled the recent crackdowns.

This is my opinion only but, I have over 60 years experiencing driving, 30 within Thailand and 20 more in foreign countries, some of which are as bad as here but not as crowded. The local drivers seem to me to have learned their driving habits from their very early days of riding motorcycles and eventually they come of legal age to drive a car. Some maybe go to a driving school but many even if they do that, still seem to be driving with their motorcycle skills. They always seem to cut corners even when in the mountains - really scare the whatever out of me to come around a corner and some idiot is way into my lane! They learned while on motorcycles, that they could totally ignore traffic laws and violate many laws right in front of a policeman who just ignores them. They learned on motorcycles that no matter how crowded the traffic, one can just zoom around others changing lanes constantly, etc without any regards to the other vehicles on the road. Mine opinion only of course but....
Exactly my own observation over the years. and. of course, you can do so much more damage with a high powered pick-up truck !

I made it a priority to learn years ago essentially because I hated the idea of being one of those who converse in childlike language and need someone to hold my hand everywhere.
Unless your partner speaks your language fluently you are only going to get half the story at best...a source of great frustration for many.
I don't pretend to have integrated here but I'm happier in the knowledge that I can have a decent conversation

Giving this money to poor people is not going to boost the economy .It just means that they will spend the same as before but will not have to beg/borrow scrape the money together for a small while.

Find him another temple quickly. Far too many unstable people out there among us already, (foreigners included)!

That was the motorbike taxi driver's age. There was no age listed of the foreigner in the OP's 1st post.
Absolutely correct ...my bad (as they say ) !

I only read the post made by the OP, which mentioned no age but had a blurred out pic of a dude with grey hair. I didn't click through to the article.
The OP actually says he's 35....he ages quickly.

Just asked SWMBO.....and apparently in addition to all the hoops mentioned, we have to take the head of our village to the Amphur....???
Did all that. then got sent to MFA who then insisted I got my passport verified as genuine at BKK embassy. Pointless timewasting exercise in my case !

I've mentioned this before, and I guess it hasn't sunk in. Every time you downgrade foreigners, even in jest, it makes all of us look bad, although most of us aren't, abide by the laws, treat their women well, and spend a lot of money here. You're an expat I believe, and your comments are ignorant. Thais read this forum, and when a farang trashes another farang, they think, "see, even farangs think farangs are no good". Think!
Any Thais capable of comprehending this forum might be expected to recognize a degree of sarcasm. Actually. I find it degrading when a foreigner refers to other foreigners as "falang" , could at least use a capital "F" !😁

I fear the phrase " world-class" has been greatly devalued in recent years.

They must be total losers to work here for practically nothing and take potential jobs away from Thais. Disgraceful.
Ever consider they might have been doing this as bit of fun.? The Thai owner is the real loser, being found to operate an illegal business.
The "aliens" being naive. or stupid or both but the owner taking the "potential jobs" from Thais by choosing not to employ Thais !

Never been to one, so can someone clarify whether these mega Indian clubs in Pattaya employ only Thai DJ's or can Indians get a work permit for such ?

Seem to lacking a certain gene that makes it impossible to deal with jealousy without violence also. as is seemingly the cause of this "altercation" !

This is not supposed to be an excuse for him to beat her. But if she wouldn't return to him, then he could not beat her...
Perhaps she thought she had no other options if she sought refuge in a temple rather than family ?

However, being organised enough to 'go through the process of card in machine' is already a step away from the 'degree of autopilot' that results in one leaving the card in the ATM.
I don't think this issue is a loss of mental acuity from the Op... It has much more to do with being relaxed, on low alert and functioning on autopilot with complacency.
Early on in adult-hood I developed a very simple rule of 3 that covers most options.
Using and ATM: 123
1) Card in
2) Cash
3) Card out
... I get into that habit of one two three and mentally state the number at the point of action.
Parking the Car:
1) Keys
2) Lock
3) Location
The same applies to being at home:
I only ever leave things in one of 3 places and make that a habit.
The one issue I did have... was for getting my keys...
I used to go through the 1,2,3 before going out..
1) Wallet
2) Phone
3) Keys
But then I'd forget the Wife !... Seriously though, I forgot to take out my keys on a number of occasions and for some reason house keys became a weak link. A couple of times I nearly had to get a hotel because I was back late, wife was fast asleep and I can't get in.
The 1,2,3 thing didn't work with keys because I was usually taking more than 3 things with me... Wine, football kit, etc.
Simple solution there was to go to switch to locks....
Its the same when leaving a bar or restaurant etc... doing the 'pocket pat down' to make sure I still have my Wallet with me.
Making behavior a habit so we don't forget things helps a lot... I'm trying to pass this over to my Son...
Wife is already a lost cause and is outrageously forgetful. If the AC remote is lost, the first place I go to look is the freezer !!
Any chance you could teach the natives: mirror, signal manoeuvre ?

Quite probably because the offender was (presumably) a fellow Thai. Consideration and not being confrontational / disrespectful ... blah blah ! Not the same issues when reporting a foreigner.
