Well,I will run and book a flight before they all go.I think not.the baht is at 43 to the pound. The hotel, cigs ,beer ,women, food, prices.Have all gone expencive to what they used to be.The attitude towards us stinks. They dont cut your nails ,wipe you down with a nice iced flanel. And leave you to enjoy your beer in peace anymore.Ask you for a beer, and you havnt even got yours yet.Young men make you walk around them to get past.Do what they want to you in numbers, because they know nothing will happen to them.Drug you to steal from you.etc etc etc. There is nothing good about thailand anymore.I lived there for 10 years. Not been for more than 2 years now.Think that i will never go back. And so so many of my freinds from there, tell me they think they also, will never go back. They think a thousand baht. That we will forgive them, and come back to be abused. They made there bed,Let them lie in it.

What you describe is not Thailand. This is the red light disctrict.

Yes it's becoming loathsome this enforced mourning. I purcased a nice colourful dress for my girlfriend recently but she is uptight and worried about the consequences of wearing it as it is not death black. It's an oppressive society when this happens.

Don't talk shit. Me and my GF dress colourful for weeks and I never notice any strange looks...

There is a perception running through this thread, that the current group of expat retirees are poor, living in poverty and if mama noodles go up by 10 baht, they are finished.

I think the opposite is the case, most retiree expats are in fact comfortable or very well off.

Look at the threads on Thaivisa, "whats the best new pick up", "whats the best school to send the kids to", "who does the best business class to Europe" etc etc.

These are not post from people living on the breadline

You must have missed the "Visa Section" in this forum. There are many who have to to trick the system to stay in Thailand. Not to mention the ten thousands who are still illegal here on overstay. And many many visa agent offer the service of "borrowing" the required amount for a fee like 20.000baht. Pattaya will be a lonely place if you need 3mio baht cash or 100k income to get a Retirement visa.

I suspect a great many things are going to change in terms of visas for Thailand in the coming year.

Would it be wishful thinking to hope that they might implement a realistic visa scheme for those who have married thais and have dependants here? Like, oh - every other country in the world?

Get rid of the stupid 3 month check in for a start and issue 5 year visas for those married to a thai national with thai dependants.

I think the Visa for married or having thai dependants are not that bad but the limits on the thai labor market are outdated. If you have a child in Thailand then it would be at least fair that you can have the possibility to work without the hard foreign labor restrictions.

    Deleting things from the internet?

    Really, who writes these stories.

I guess they mean that every ISP in Thailand must give full access to the servers in case of unwanted content even without any warrant. What a nightmare BTW and just another step back for Thailand being a Internet Hub. Some people still hope that Thailand would become Asia's leading Internet Hub. http://www.bangkokpost.com/tech/local-news/835036/investment-call-to-become-a-digital-infrastructure-hub

Previous research led me to believe that this is not possible.

If you want to change the name on the title deed then you must go through the land office, and they’ll want a transfer fee and also that the new owner complies with the law (i.e. show the relevant FET form for the value of the condo).

What would happen in case of a inheritance? The condo owner dies and his last will states that his brother or another foreigner will get his condo.

thanks you can see the jump in ping during the tests on AIS, if you are playing games and your family members are using the connection for their regular purposes, one's connection to the game servers will start experiencing packet loss and high pings thats what i noticed with my AIS fibre and something that does not happen with my cat fiber.

Thats strange. Sure that this was not a wifi issue? Low cost wifi router with two many clients, etc..
