  1. Google Earth is no help.

It gives the road name as Phon Prapha Nimit up to the junction and then Phon Prapha from the junction up to Siam Country Club and no name for the road or any sois off it around the lake.

Could just be continued as Phon Prapha Nimit?

I pretty convinced that the road does have a name. The locals use it and I saw it on a map of the area. So I'll keep searching for a day or two.

Or you could ask the postman, he should know (maybe).

BTW I'm in the same area.

  2. Very interesting topic, especially the many replies that you should eat Thai food in a Thai restaurant.

I don't eat Thai food, I don't like it, and when I go to a restaurant I expect the items on the menu to be at least the same quality as the Thai food served.

Judging by many responses here, I cannot trust any restaurant in Britain to have a decent Wiener Schnitzel or Osso Buco because it's not local fare.

Anyway to the OP you're absolutely right in complaining if you're food was served cold.

  3. dont worry too much yermanee...you will soon get used to the bitterness directed towards Arsenal on here :D

just stay close to me and you will be ok ;)

    Just noticed your above post.

    Thanks for that.

Could you give me a hint of where I have to be, to be close to you? :jap::wub::jap:

Joking aside, the boys did good in Belgrade, hope they can do the same this Sunday against the KGB.

  4. Plenty of places to stop for the night if thats all it is. Why pay extra for all the gloss

Hua hin (5 hours from Pattaya) PP villa, center of town, easy walk to rests and they have a pool and internet. 800-900 b

    ChumPhon 7 hours

Ranong 8 hours nice hotel right on the main road with hot springs and pools Royal Princess 800-1,000

or do the whole thing ( what i usually do) 11 hours and i drive about 100 kms/hour and stop to eat and gas only

Not very advisable with 2 young boys in the back.!!!

To the OP have done Bangkok/Krabi several times which is approx. the same mileage, and always stopped near to Chumphon.

Plenty of hotels or beach resorts to choose from. Drive safely.

    regards

  5. True enough but irrelevent to the current situation. Fact is, the gap between us now is a very slim one.

Carmine you're a Tottenham fan and I'm an Arsenal fan (in a way) and let's leave at that shall we?

I just made the point that a defeat by Arsenal (especially at home) is very hard to swallow for a Tottenham fan, which I understand.

If it had been the other way around you would have gloated also.

  6. Oh dear, Oh dear,

Must be hard to be a Tottenham fan, 1 - 4 at home against Arsenal's boys.

That was the strongest Carling cup team that Arsenal have put out (baring a semi final) since 1998. Far more experienced Tottenham made ten changes to the team last weekend.

Yes you deserved to win but don't go overboard. Keane hit the post in the 83rd minute and you might have lost 2-1. Basically, your "experienced" team won a "Carling cup" tie...thats it.

Saying that baring in mind Arsenal, having won nothing for so long, i understand why you are so elated and Wenger is so desperate to win this cup.

    Dear Carmine don't get exited.

As my name suggests I'm not British so I couldn't care less who wins the Carling cup.

It's just that I don't like twisting Harry, not for what he's done for Tottenham but for some of the other teams he's managed, and the outrages remarks that Tottenham is bigger than Arsenal.

Just look at the pedigree of both teams.

Except from all that I became an Arsenal fan not for the silverware, but for the pleasure they provide me watching them play their exciting brand of football.

    Enough said.

    yermanee

Actually, too much said. ;) Although, whilst talking about pedigree, did you watch the derby at White Hart Lane last season when you were soundly beaten by our "first team?"

Yes 1 time in 10 years. What a performance !!!

  8. Pattaya is a hel_l hole!

"That girl, no knickers, I never see before" summed up her opinion of Pattaya perfectly.

Wow, probably too much competition for her !!!

Anyway, Sarah must be a saint putting up with a bloke like you.

  9. Having sat opposite a Thai Air Stewardess frantically wai-ing and chanting to herself during a mildly rough landing, I'm not convinced that looks and strong bones are the requistite qualification for safe service.

But you have to admit that it worked didn't it ?

  10. How many people still think the T (ism) - word is too extreme to describe the red shirts. Yes, the red shirts who started their public activities again in Chonburi province again. Bombs a coincidence. I think not.

I guess they need they guy with his yellow Hummer again. Every country should have its own RAMBO. :D

    Does Glitterman count?

  11. Also try www.sawadee.com. They are a lot of the time cheaper than Agodo. Used them several times and never had any problem

They give an excellent service - quick and efficient

However sawadee.com as well as latestays.com and agoda.com use the same booking system. You have to do a ghost booking i.o to see the final price.

I don't like that system exactly like I don't like airlines that do the same, it's misleading.

  12. So obviously the fact that Coulthard admitted he caused the accident has no bearing on this matter, same as when J.P.Montoya (McLaren) found it necessary to drive into the back of Schumacher in the tunnel at Monte Carlo, and everybody laughing at Schumi for being so stupid to drive into the wall behind the safety car. Schumi was upset that time also and rightfully so.

Anyway since this topic is obviously biased against anything Schumacher and Ferrari, you're not gonna find me here again.

  13. I was having flash backs of China when he stayed out needlessly on slicks and ended up sliding off coming into the pits

And I was having flash backs to Spa 1998 where Coulthard (McLaren) found it necessary to brake on the racing line in a corner to allow a certain German driver to drive over him.

Funny how history repeats itself. Pffffffffffew indeed.

98 was the year i spent cut off from civilisation, far far away from F1, so i had to google that incident:

    http://www.youtube.c...h?v=kLGqedydP74

An unfortunate accident without a doubt, but Schumi's reaction says a lot about the man - nothing we didn't already know however...

There you go again, slagging off Schumi for reacting like anybody would have done.

Even Coulthard himself has recently admitted that he made a mistake then.

I could give you more examples that McLaren is not shy of using team orders, but the difference is that the British then call it - clever tactics -,

but oh dear if Ferrari does the same, then it's dispicable.

    Just my 2 cents

  15. Any passenger flying into Thailand must hold : either (i) a valid visa or (ii) a ticket for a flight out of Thailand.(Not necessarily a return ticket)

The 30 day "permit on entry" is not a visa.

    You were very lucky indeed.

My experience is that the Airline shall deny boarding -- and will not relent.

Problem is that sometimes check-in staff don't really know these rules.

I was once nearly denied boarding in Frankfurt by a very surly german lady at the check-in because I did not have a return ticket.

When I pointed out that the flight I was checking-in for was my return flight to Thailand on a ticket bought in Thailand and me living in Thailand on a year visa, she was obviously baffled and after a longish argument finally agreed to ask her superior who didn't know either and it took a phone call to an airline representative to sort it out.

Same in Bangkok with Shengen visa's for my spouse. If you're first point of call is not in the country from which you have the visa be prepared for a lengthy discussion.
