The international speeds you guys are getting on 3BB, like TG's speeds, are definitely much better than what I get on AIS Fibre since around late September on my 200/50 plan.

Before late September on Testmy.net I could easily get over 100Mb to Singapore 24/7...more like around 135Mb.  Testmy.net was routinely reporting my speed was the fastest of all testers in the last 30 days of testing.   But since late Sep I'm lucky to get around 30Mb tops to Singapore on testmy.net when using single thread....during prime time down around 10-15Mb.  But do a Global Multithread testmy.net test and it much higher.

Maybe AIS Fibre is throttling single thread operations and has tuned it's network to multithread operations.  But if that was true I still should be getting really good results when using Speedtest.net which is a multithread tester....but my international speeds with Speedtest.net have dropped way off.

As mentioned my Speedtest.net international results have went way down...where I use to pull  over 100Mb speeds to the U.S. west coast....now I only get one-fourth to one-half of that depending on the time of day.

But Nperf.com still reports me getting speeds of 150Mb or more to the U.S. west coast pretty much 24/7.

Yeap, my first 15 months with AIS up to late September was happy times speedtests-wise; but since September (and tons of bitching of them about the lower international speed) speeds have not improved back to what they use to be.   But the domestic/within Thailand speed remains full speed...I get a little over 200 down and 60 up.

"If," repeat if, my current international speeds are representative of other AIS Fibre customers to include the drop in international speed since late Sept seems AIS has implement some data shaping/rerouting/etc., which probably saves them money on international bandwidth via buying less, using cheaper/slower routing, etc.  But with this being said, my browsing, international video streaming, etc., still moves along just fine...hasn't caused me any real problems except for a few days in October when it got too slow and I could easily notice my browsing was not zippy like it should be and Speedtest.net tests to the west coast showed speeds well under 10Mb....but then that got fixed within a day or two where speeds went up to around 30Mb.

I expect folks on slower AIS plans, say around 30-75Mb, may not have noticed much of a change in international speed. Maybe it's just the higher speed plans, like my 200/50 plan, that have been throttled back to match the international speed of lower speed plans.    But with this being said, my browsing, international video streaming, etc., still moves along just fine...hasn't caused me any real problems.

Then again, maybe it's just my AIS account being punished.  Lord knows I've called them around twice per week since late September bitching at them (nicely to semi-nicely) about the slower international speed.....I always get nice responses like it's fixed now....that's the normal international speed....we'll work the problem and call you back...we deactivated IPv6 on your account so give that a try, etc.  Just a variety of "throw the stick type responses" hoping I'll go chase that stick for a while until I get tired and give up.    But this dog don't chase sticks.

after long technical discussion with a noc engineer from AIS, they finally found the reason for lower international speed for me since September when they changed from 49 series ip to 184. it was some error in their gateway.

they did some long technical tests using teamviewer to remotely control my computer for some tests and logfiles.

after he made some changes, i can confirm i am once again getting great international speeds.   try checking if the problem has been fixed for you too.

before i was getting only 15 mbps to 30 using testmy.net to singapore now its full 200 mbps

    i am on 200/50 power4 package

    to singapore

  2. Indeed they have.  And the Gold TV add-on is now Bt299 (I "think" it was higher before...lost track with all the price changes).  Wonder if it's short term as they have offered the Platinum TV add-on at Bt599 before...or this is their new & improved price?  Guess time will tell.

One thing for sure AIS Fibre sure has a lot of different packages/prices to choose from....I guess that is good thing.

I also see they have expanded from Bangkok & 27 provinces to Bangkok & 47 provinces.   New coverage areas shown in red text below.

Just wondering what’s going to happen to folks who subscribed with Ais power 4 when they were doing platinum for 6 months, real bad luck for them.

I hope they buy enough international bandwidth for all the large scale expansions to other provinces.

To date I have not rec'd that SMS.  I get other SMSs, like on 22 and 23 Oct, from AIS Fibre...just haven't got above SMS yet.  Maybe they don't want to send me the SMS because they know I will bitch at them (like they care).  AIS is beginning to act more like True everyday.

The the sender of the message is not titled AISFibre, its from AISPlayBox , check maybe you have received it.

  4.
Has it actually been confirmed for certain that AIS is really doing that with their boxes? Has any user encountered locking as yet?

Last time I caught up with the other thread on that specific topic, someone had heard or seen that news, but anytime anyone contacted AIS about it, they seemed to know nothing about that kind of change...

They are planning to do it on 20th November, I hope there is enough criticism that they abandon the plan.

I have received an sms from ais few days ago about this. It’s in Thai though

Yea, when I switch to the Power4 200/50 plan in early Sep the Power4 advertisement only identified HooQ as no longer being free after 12 months if signing up for the Bt1799 or Bt1999 Power4 plans.   There was no "free for X months" shown for the Platinum HD, SIM card, Wifi, etc....only the HooQ was shown with a free for 12 months for these two plans.  To me that implied come renewal time and if the plan just rolls over automatically I would still be getting the same deal with the exception of HooQ would now add Bt129/mo to the cost if I wanted to keep HooQ.    See below what their ad use to say....note where I circled HooQ which was the only item that was identified as free for X-month meaning all other items were just standard in the package.

    Capture.JPG.7421e6332aa1af67f6c4adc76a03e7a2.JPG

I even talked to AIS Fibre 1185 two different times/to two different reps on different days about "would the price stay the same after my 12 month contract in terms of Platinum HD, SIM, Wifi, etc., still being part of the Bt1,999 price?"  The answer was yes both times with the cavet that HooQ would no longer be free and unless I cancelled the HooQ during the month before the 12 month contract is up then my monthly bill would go up Bt129/mo which is the HooQ cost.  On my first call I even asked the rep confirm the info with her supervisor...the rep put me on hold for a few minutes while supposedly doing this, came back online and repeated above.

With their ads where the Platinum HD is free only for X-months like HooQ is only free for X-months, I don't consider their Bt1799 and Bt1999 Power4 plans as good deals with the Platinum TV no longer being free...would add Bt899 to the price.   Now "if" a person could call AIS just before the free Platinum TV period ends and tell them you want to drop that portion since you don't want to incur an additional Bt899/mo charge and lets say they allow that (but they probably wouldn't since you are on a 12 month contract), you would be left with a 200/50 plan with SIM card and Wifi for Bt1999.   Kinda pricey IMO.

Heck, since 200/100 plans from other ISPs run around Bt1200 and you can get cheaper SIM cards from numerous mobile operators, I would not consider the higher speed AIS Power 4 plans a good deal anymore.  If I stayed with AIS Fibre and their Platinum HD when my current contract ends Sep 18, I would probably fall back to a 100Mb speed plan with Platinum HD add-on.

Since my only choice for Fiber Optics/DOCSIS high speed plans in my moobaan is AIS or True, I would probably stay with AIS since they would still be cheaper than True DOCSIS 100Mb plan with Gold or Platinum packages add-on .  And AIS knows they still have a cost advantage over True for high speed internet and premium TV packages...this is probably why these new Power4 packages are coming out that are not as good as the earlier Power4 packages.

However, but, I've heard rumors True may be lowering prices comes Dec/Jan in trying to get some customers back who jumped boat to AIS and others when True raised prices of their TV packages even though losing the HBO channels to AIS.   In fact, after we (the wife and I) left True we got a call from them a few weeks later trying to get us back on board but we said no due to their pricing and lack of HBO channels....and the rep said, well, come December True may have new/lower pricing coming out....the wife told the rep to call back in Dec with new/lower pricing and we'll talk about it then, but until goodbye.    Time will tell....personally I don't think True will lower its TV packages price by much if any.

Ais is really shooting themselves in the foot when it comes to their recent changes, first they really messed up something with the international bandwidth which has been slow ever since , then they are planning to limit/lock the playbox capabilities to run only their apps and now they are downgrading their packages with platinum now only being 6 months free.

generally speaking there packages and offerings are quite confusing too, like what happens when your contract ends or free months of platinum ends , what happens to the free 4g sim after 12 months etc..

still remember those old days when Ais was a startup in the broadband business and their packages were the most attractive/cheapest for the speed and they really set themselves as a price leader in the isp market when it came to attractive packages.

Now other isps have overtaken them and Ais is still very slow to respond to recent market changes.

  6. just noticed Ais made some changes to its power4 promotion. 200/50 top of the line package used to come with free 12 months of platinum HD but now its only 6 months so in reality its a downgrade (never heard of that lol usually they make their promotion better)

when i subscribed to their top package it was still 12 months i hope it remains the same for people who already subscribed beforehand.

  7. The AIS Fibre rep called back as promised at 3:55pm.  She said after asking around the can not find any information about the SMSs I talked about that other AIS Fibre customers said they are receiving.  She asked did I know the AIS phone number or AIS Fibre subscription number of my friends so she could look into their accounts which implied to me then she might be able to see what they go the SMS.  I said I don't know their subscription number and don't want to hand out their cell phone numbers like as if I knew rexall and Sookee numbers.

And it  wouldn't surprise me for the AIS custumer support reps to be the last ones to know at to info being sent to AIS Customers.

     @ Rexall
Sounds like you called AIS Mobile at 1175 versus AIS Fibre at 1185.  Did the AIS Fibre 1175 folks now what you were really taking about...knew about the SMS/change.   Or did they give you blank stare type response.  If you called 1175 maybe the Mobile side is clueless about what is happening on the AIS Fibre side at 1185.  Maybe give AIS Fibre at 1185 a call to see what they say.

    @ Sookee,
Maybe you should give 1185 a call also...see what they tell you.

I too received the sms from AIS in Thai, maybe you can forward the sms to them and give them a rant from all of us.

I'm on the the AIS Fibre 200/50 plan also...also have a 184 series  IP address as shown in the Speedtest.net result below.  On 6 Sep is when AIS switched me from the 49 series to the 184 series....haven't noticed any problems. And below are some Testmy.net and Speedtest.net test results to Singapore as of approx 2:15pm.   Not having any problems reaching any websites that I visit.

your speeds are really good, i used to get similar results when on their 49 series IP

However now i am getting very low results on my 200/50 package internationally.

    This test was on Lan.

  9. Ais fibre has seriously started to go downhill since they have switched from 49 ip series to 184 series, i cant reach many websites plus my Speeds to international servers have plunged to single digit Mbs including Singapore servers.

last night i was downloading Iphone's software update from itunes on my mac connected using Lan cable  which uses apple servers, usually i always get full speed, but last night at 1 am which is not  peak time it took me 1 hour for a 3 GB file.

I am on their 200Mb/50 package.

    @TG again,

You mention you are on the 3BB 200/50 plan @ Bt1200/mo.  Now that 3BB sells the 200/100 plan at the same price per month and the 200/50 plan is no longer listed on their website from my quick review, I wonder if  they will upgrade you automatically to the 100Mb upload speed in the near future, you'll have to wait till then end of your current contract, maybe you will have to call them, maybe your area is not 100Mb upload capable....etc....etc....etc.

For me, the upload speed is not very important....my previous 10Mb upload speed on my AIS plan was more than enough.   And now that I have 50Mb upload speed on my AIS plan, which apparently changed to 60Mb on 6 Sep, I probably have more than 10 times the upload speed I need for what little I upload. But I understand for folks who use the Cloud a lot and upload a lot that having a high upload speed is important. The AIS Fibre website site only shows the 50Mb upload speed plan as does my online AIS Fibre account, but on 6 Sep when I got switched from a 49.xxx series IP address to a 184.xxx series IP address my upload speed increased from 50Mb to 60Mb.

    Pib

I just got changed to the 184 series too and i am also getting 10 MB more upload speed than my package.

Ok, well now I tried uTorrent and it works there. BitTorrent isn't working. Probably a problem with that application then. At the last time both weren't working. I guess Bittorrent needs to be reinstalled or somehow "forget" some issues that previously existed.

I had the same problem with my Ais fibre, connecting to peers and dht login. I figured out a solution, just go to your Ethernet settings click on properties and uncheck the ipv6 and click ok. It should work permanently now.

Follow up on experience with my 2 lines:

    1. AIS Fiber 100/10

    2. True Cable 100/30

International bandwidth is far better via AIS, with a single thread getting 80-90 Mbps to Singapore.  In contrast it looks like True are traffic shaping and restricting bandwidth to about 10Mbps over a single thread to Singapore.  I can get ~90Mbps over True via multiple threads, but that wont help with services like streaming.  I've asked True to look into this for me.

My load balancer combines both lines to get me ~180-190Mbps down and ~40-50Mbps up within Thailand.

The obvious downside to AIS is carrier grade NAT, but having the True connection gives me IPV4 point which I can easily traverse to from outside.

If I was mainly interested in general browsing and streaming I think I'd take the AIS connection over True any day of the week.  Hope this might help.  I'm based in Phuket FWIW.

From what I have heard, at least from the call center guy that True's genuine FTTH runs on a different backbone and network than its cable(Docsis) and supposedly gives better international speed. Since my office has True cable internet, and I am still on old package as True has refused to upgrade me to their newer, faster and better price packages unless I sign another one year contract again.

i still don't understand why True does not differentiate between cable and authentic Ftth in terms of marketing and simply calls both fiber.

I have asked True to switch me over from Cable to fiber in my office, True said they will check my office area if fiber is available and let me know in 3-7 days.

i would like to switch to Cat or Ais(like my house) in my office but sadly only True is available.

I hope  someone can post some speedtests using True's Real FTTH and not cable.

Oh, so you want a bible class. Fine. I shall put my education to good work.

The passages you quote are taken from the King James version of the Old Testament. It is an English language version that was translated from ancient Greek writings which in turn relied on verbal, ancient Greek and  aramic writings. The actual Old testament used by the jews uses the term Pelashet. The Greeks misunderstood the word and when translating used a different pronounciation.   The reality is that there  is not one reference  to palestine in the new testament. Not one. Jesus and his disciples did not recognize any place called palestine, nor anyone called a Palestinian.

The  people who controlled the region were Turks, not Arabs. The Ottoman Empire was certainly not an "arab" entity.  It did however, conquer the arab population who had live in the middle east. Under the Ottoman Empire, jews were the majority population of Jerusalem. The arab population of Gaza was virtually wiped out by earthquakes and plagues in the early 1900's. The reappearance of large numbers of arabs in that region  only occurred  after the arabs gained control. The majority of arans in Gaza are immigrants.

And  seeing how you wish to use the Bible to promite your position, I draw your attention to

Joel 3:19 "Egypt will become a waste and Edom (arab nations) will become a desolate wilderness because of the violence done to the sons of Judah in whose land they have shed innocent blood."

There's lots more. Read your bible and heed the warnings.

The first Muslim army to run that region was an Arab army led by caliph Umar. Strangely enough the Jews did really good and flourished during the Muslim rule in 14 hundred years of  history. The Jews and christians were allowed to practice their faith and allowed to use their places of worship according to the treaty.

Thanks for supporting my post. The Jews have been in the Palestine REGION continuously for 3,000 years and there has never been an independent country - run by Arabs - called Palestine.

The concept of sovereign nations state is a modern one, the area was controlled and ran by Muslim Arabs as well as non Arab muslims throughout the 1400 years.

The area was a part of various Islamic empire's territory and the muslims have lived in that area since the past 1400 years of history.

Palestine is old enough that it is mentioned in the Old Testament portion of the Bible.

The Roman region of Palestine was conquered by the Muslim armies of the Caliphate (Islamic Empire) under CaliphUmar. Muslim presence in the region has continued to the present time for nearly 1400 years. Throughout the majority of the era Muslim rule existed in the region of Palestine, except for the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem (1099–1291), the British Rule (1917 - 1948), and after the 1948 Palestine War, which led to the creation of the State of Israel and Israeli sovereignty over a majority of the territories of the British Mandate for Palestine".
