  1. If you have the cash its possibly the only practical 'super-car' fit for Bangkok.

The biggest issues will be 'nosing' out turning in and out of Sub-Sois onto a main Soi... a few years back this drove me from a low fast car to a quick but not super fast 4x4 (a Range Rover)... I think the GTR has a more reasonable ride height if not fitted with an additional Nizmo kit and lowered front spoiler.

The roads are not as bad as some suggest... The expressways present an opportunity for a flash of enjoyable acceleration, enough to bring a smile to the face before a post lobotomy 'middle-laner' pesters along at 80 kmh and you have to pass them at a safe speed.

One issue I have noticed here is the quality of road surface in regards to the grip rather than the bumps...  The roads in Thailand (Bangkok mostly) are very 'shiny' when I put my car (BMW) in Sports Mode and the traction control is off the rear tyres spin very easily...  And thats in the dry !!!...  a 4WD GTR will encounter this issue to a far lesser degree, for this reason amongst others it is the most suitable 'super-car' for Bangkok...

The Nissan 370z is also a lot of car for the price...  (relative to Thailand).

Its no use comparing the price of cars in other countries if you are looking at a car in Thailand... Yes, its heartbreaking, but the price of the car you want in another country is irrelevant.

A car is a very personal choice, If it wasn't we'd all be driving a Jazz or Fortuna - Yes, Face is part of it, so is fashion, so is practicality, so is ego, desire, marketing etc etc.. ultimately, if you can afford it, if you like it and it makes you happy... Get it !!...

one2car.com has a handful of GTR's... the site is in Thai but its easy enough to navigate with a little trial and error.

    4.5 MB for a 2009 model / 5.7MB for a 2011 model.....

Insurance... I'd expect to be paying about 80 - 100,000  Baht per year (just a guess)...

No one ever said fast cars are for prudent minds...

I agree, GTR is the only car that i believe is worth more than its price even in Thailand considering the fact that performance of GTR is better than even exotic 10-15 million lambo, audi and others. Also i believe it is the safest and one of the most stable super cars than the others.

I came here with the intent of getting some insight on owning a GTR in Thailand but some people here started suggesting pick ups instead of GTR seriously ? Guess they must be really bored of this beautiful life and world in general.

  2. for 6 million baht, i would rent one for 2 months (200k i guess), and after I got bored of bottoming out, sitting in traffic, realizing it won't help me get laid, I spend 1+ million on a new truck and keep 5 million in the bank.

Tell me any other super car in the same price range that has the same or close to the same performance of this legend?

  3. I am seriously considering getting one, i recently drove one in dubai and was really impressed by it considering its a jap car(nissan). Does anyone here know the price for new or second hand presumably couple of years old?

Is it better to get new or second hand which would be couple of years old?
    Insurance costs?
Reliability, maintenance and servicing in bkk (sukhumvit)
Would it be a good daily drivers car?
And lastly would it be a problem to run the car using e10 95 benzine?
Do nissan service center provide service to an imported gtr?

  4. No they are not, get your facts straight.

Well if everyone moves to CAT, or True, or whomever, and routes via Singapore using a VPx, then eventually, either they'll (ISPs) have to add more capacity, or begin to limit usage, or everyone will be contending for a limited resource.

Agreed, i was referring to his post that not all isps use the same pipe, for instance true online has a good bandwidth between TH-SG and tot uses other route , one can confirm it via trace-route.

  5. This is a heads up for anyone going through BKK by Car the police are very active regarding speed, anyone found via their Radar 'that seems every ware' going over 110kmph on the express routes are being stopped at toll booth's, Licence taken to be picked up anytime in the next week from local police station once you have paid the fine and get this it's now 1,000bt no back handers will be taken.

N/B some will take the cash give you your licence back + a ticket all seems very legal.

I regularly drive over 160, sometimes even go over 200 but the radar holding police seems to always avoid me and never i have been stopped once. Now i do see other cars being stopped along the way especially the red plate pick ups.

  6. I set up a proxy using OneHostAsia VPS. Premium bandwidth plan with SSD. Speed was full rate SG-TH but only 1meg US-SG. My ISP was CAT premium 8meg.

So it would seem that it's not simply "escaping" the TH links that's important, the SG firm must also have good bandwidth... and you can only find that out with by settings up a dedicated VPS and testing it yourself.

Proxy was Dante on Linux VPS CentOS x64 --direct hardware virtualisation.. Software used on Windows 7 was called proxifier which is pretty good as it enabled you to funnel DNS through the proxy AMD control via rules which apps/ports/IPs are sent to the proxy. Worked really well and totally transparent... but not full rate bandwidth. Some stuff was really fast; youtube for instance... 1080HD no problems ...but for my intended usage it was better to have a "direct" connection to the states.

According to recent threads about this topic , digital ocean seems to have good bandwidth between SG and US.
  7. Yes you can use them together, however I am not sure if tot has a fast connection/routing to Singapore due to high ping response time.

Can you go to testmy.net and select Singapore as your server on the top of the page and post your results here. If you do get high bandwidth to Singapore then setting up proxy via Singapore in addition with smartdns would work better than direct connection.

  8. I won't argue about the coverage of all the three network providers in Thailand simply because I live in bkk and rarely need to step out of bkk, so coverage wouldn't be a issue with all the providers in bkk. But I would still choose true over the other two just for one reason and that is, I believe true has better routing and response time(latency time to international server) than the other two.

  9. Thanks...that quite a setup...not for the faint of heart. I've used the SwitchSharp extension before on Chrome to switch back and forth between the True proxies and no proxy. So, basically you are just setting up a Google proxy. When you say blazing fast have you run any speed tests like testmy.net to provide some specific numbers as to the proxy speed in comparison to no proxy? Thanks again.

I have the True Online aDSL 10mbps package for 699baht. And then you can see I have level 3 hosting (Google App Engine).

You are using multithread test, change it to single threaded.

  10. I'm talking about 2100 mhz deployment and you are twisting it by cat ="1393567844"]Most places I went to don't even have 2100 mhz 3G from Truemove-h (so I am connected to 850 mhz network). It seems you travel a lot between

Seems ur a sucker for AIS's "real 3G" marketing - what a load of tripe

You have yet to explain technically it's advantage - good luck with that one.

I can give tons of 850 advantages , 1/3 less cells required, better in building penetration etc etc

Not to forget True 3G is the largest network in the country

But then again irrelevant , cause I am mainly on 4G in Bangkok smile.png

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

SkippyBangkok is again completely correct and Muratremix shows once again that he does not understand how mobile network works.

I am also on True 3G and I still cannot find one area (and I travel a lot around Thailand) where the 850Mhz 3G does not connect. Now AIS can still advertise on its "supposedly" better network he had in 2002, it is definitely not the best right now.

Now to get back on topic, I'd be interested to know whether Siri is actually working better with a faster Internet connection or if it is an upgraded firmware that just makes it better.

    GJ

If you dare to search my old posts you'll see I have pretty much knowledge how mobile networks work, how 850 mhz 3G has 15km diameter coverage instead of 5km diameter like 2100 mhz and so on and so on. Do you really want to humiliate yourself? I told here I'm using truemove-h and have no problems on 850 mhz, it works in my village in Isaan aswell.

However, both you and skippy dude fail to understand is Truemove is in financial trouble and not deploying enough base stations for 2100 mhz band they have won license.

If you think 850 mhz 3G is superior to 2100 mhz in every way, why don't all other countries don't use it in crowded cities? You absolutely have no idea what contention is and you think one single base station serve in a 15 km area?

You guys definately don't know who you are dealing with and still trying your chance. Don't worry I can ridicule you if thats what you want.

AIS 3g 2100 mhz is the fastest growing network at the moment, proof is we get ais 2100 mhz 3g signal in our village which is in a remote part of Isaan.

Muratremix is right, example you live in area c which is 15 km and there will only be one 850mhz pole to cover all the density of area c. So all users in the interval 0.00001 km to 15 km will connect to one station overloading it. But since 2.1ghz only covers 4-5 km, mathematically you would require 3 poles of 2.1ghz to cover all the area c's 15 km which means the same number of people living in area c will now be divided to to 3 poles reducing the contention instead over burdening one pole of 850ghz.

I use true move 4g myself and get around 50-60 mb in my area in sukhumvit Bangkok

  11. Cat is faster than any other ISP in Thailand. You're making me jealous shariq!

Not true. My UIH leased lines blow CAT out of the water.

We lease lines with 1:1 contention ratio and dedicated International bandwidth.

Right now we're testing a 30/30 (30 down 30 up both domestic and international)

here is a speedtest of cat, i hope you can provide a speedtest of UIH lease line from testmy.net if its really fast internationally i would like to subscribe to it. is it available in sukhumvit, Bangkok?

  12. Can you also do traceroute to UK location?

    IP is 217.147.84.150

Your results are amazing btw. Wonder how much it'll cost if I pay to deploy fiber cable from Cat (not sure they'll do it for home package)

Be advised as i mentioned in other posts one of my friend who plays battlefield 4 with me on pc uses cat fiber home package and he gets bad latency to the same server i am playing in. Maybe because premium lines get better routing than home packages. So unless you are going for premium cat packages, don't expect home packages to get the bandwidth and routing as premium lines.

If you friend could do a traceroute from his computer, we could compare and tell. I wonder if he gets worse latency than my true online?

He doesn't understand this but i will try to get it. Btw does true and cat have partnership with home internet? i am asking this because ever since the anti government protesters disturbed the cat headquarters if you remember, my internet that day disconnected for an hour or so and i was able to use the internet after a hour but it wasn't cat internet! i was getting true internet on cat fiber line. i believe cat that day put me on a back up true system but even now i am getting both true and cat internet on the same line. if on my router i use pppoe connection with cat provided user name and password i get cat connection but if i leave it to automatic dhcp it connects me to a true internet?? this started happening since the anti government protesters cut the lines at cat headquarters.
