  1. Prey tell how much you have sent to Japan and to the victims of the Southern floods ?

The oil companies are providing jobs and security for many local families and businesses in the area and the offshore workers spend a lot of money en route to the platforms and on the way home.

Just your typical knee jerk reaction from tree hugging loonies :o

Spoken like a true O&G guy...well done.. ......the tree huggers would have us on solar power, riding a donkey and eating lentils...

Yes....god bless the O&G guys......the poor peoples saviour....... when you ruin the environment and leave behind fishing grounds devoid of life.....I bet the villagers will be thanking you for all that beer you bought over the years, not to mention taking advantage of the girls and cheap living costs allowing you to save your above minimum wage on your month off.

Not sure where you get your sea life info from but there is more sea life around offshore rigs as they form an artificial reef and support many forms of sea life, so much so that enviromentalist want the rigs left in place.

As for taking advantage of girls your name Mr Nawtier would suggest you may well partake in something similar?

I think a small donation is better than no donation, lots of small fish make a meal.

  2. "Many older foreigners seem to marry Thai women so they can stay in Thailand under less strict requirements. Instead of needing to meet the requirements of 800,000 baht in the bank they only have to show 400,000 baht a year when married to a Thai. Additionally, many of these people seem to come to Thailand simply to marry much younger girls. In many cases they are old enough to be their father. I am concerned that these people are attempting to circumvent the rules by marrying innocent Thai women. If these people don't have enough money to retire then they shouldn't be here and become a burden to Thailand," Tawatchai Suksoom of the Ministry of Interior stated.

This is just wrong on so many levels.

Don't they know that getting married will cost a lot more than 400,000 baht. So reducing the financial requirement would hardly be valid reason to get married. :(

Don' they also know that in many cases they are old enough to be their grand father.

But the main reason it's wrong - "Innocent Thai Women"

I didn't know it cost more than 400,000 baht to get married in Thailand wow. It cost me 140,000 baht and had 450 people attend. I must be a cheap charlie.

  3. I think another reason spending has gone gown is because of the low exchange rate, people have a budget for their holidays and as Thailand has controlled their currency exchange in the last few years the cost for the tourist has increased by more than 30% so return visitors probably spend the same in their native pounds dollars ect but have less baht or find a new location which is cheaper than Thailand.

Not sure where your from ahid25 but maybe the exchange rate is down for you because your countries currency is weak not vice versa? My exchange rate is just fine.

  4. I thought the most common mistake western males make is picking up a girl with undercarriage.

Regarding the original post by the OP who said most pick the ugliest girl around.

Many pick the most beautiful girl around who only later turns into the ugliest girl around. :)

The biggest mistake is GETTING MARRIED TO A THAI WOMAN.

That is followed by BUILDING HER A HOUSE.

    Etc., etc., etc.

Sorry to hear that you have made such bad decisions Awohalitsikoli. Maybe in the future you will have learnt by your obvious mistakes and make better choices for the future.

  5. The dong had been rising against the poon for too long in my opinion, is it any wonder that the Vietnamese want to use their dong overseas to penetrate new markets?

Yes, but how to do it with a soft Dong is the issue.

Yes. I see a promising start quickly followed by an embarrassing flop, leading to a great deal of frustration.

I think that by weakening the dong their ultimate goal is to break into the pharmaceutical industry and eventually the country will ride on the back of the new "vietagra".

Maybe some other industry will pop up?

  6. What's that got to do with anything? You don't want people to come in here and begin posting?

I am not posting anything contentious, just trying to add a little to the discussion. Like I said, I shall just try to get some more info and post it here, granted that info would be rather one-sided as it'll come from the "victims" but it's a contribution nonetheless no? Fact is I simply see that I may have a bit of usefulness to contribute and I fancied doing so.

Claiming personal knowledge of the situation requires a leap of faith that is easier to take if there is a track record to back it up. A person who hasn't posted a peep for 2 years suddenly appears to champion the good nature of their "Friends" - suspicious, however true it might be. :whistling:

    Why suspicious?

OK someone is a member reads but doesn't post, fair enough.

Along comes a topic in which they have a pretty unique position in that they know some of the victims.

    So they post.

Seems allot more believable to me than some keyboard warrior who is the frigging expert on everything, constantly posting their BS opinions on everything and anything day in and day frigging out.

I know who's opinion I would take more notice of.

I couldn't agree more Kevkev, in fact I give more creedance to a member with fewer (informative) posts here than someone who posts on every known thread here which ultimately adds no extra information.

I rarely post but like to read what is mainly BS but it makes me laugh. It seems no one really knows what happened and most are just second guessing at best. My take is that both sides probably have some blame.

I had to pick myself up off the floor reading the ladies in question were Hi So. Not very likely.

  7. 61guitarman61 are you going to be the saviour to save all these pure thais from the wrath of the tainted falung?

I think you will find that the lions share of the drugs in Pattaya are being sold, bought and used by thais.

Prostitution and drugs have been a part of Thailand way before the dreaded falung bought his bad habits.

As for outside mafia influences, sure there would be an accepable amount working within Thailand and if it gets too much I'm sure the thais will look after it. They have never been successfully invaded by another country, a few mafia would be a quick fix.

I'm sure thais will look after Thailand quite well without any of our interference, they are a lot smarter than some of us realize.

    Regards

    Reformed Drunken Diseased Falung

  8. I don't see a problem. 10 years ago I was getting 22 to 25 baht to the AUD and the USD was getting around 40 baht, now both the AUD and USD are getting around 29 baht. Life is good (if your an Aussie I guess).

Australia is the new Germany which was the new Japan 20 years previously which was the new US 20 years before that. China is next. Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame and fortune, so use it wisely.

Unfortunately for Brits it came and went sometime in the 60s or 70s (1860 or 1870). Having generated the Industrial Revolution we invented Post-Industrial Decline and everyone goes through that cycle same as night follows day.

Australia is riding on the back of China because of Australias resources, mainly iron ore, coal etc soon it will be liquified natural gas. Of cause resources eventually run out.

Don't forget India, Brazil etc in future for their 15 minutes.

  9. I have lots of centipedes at my house in Thailand I always work in the yard in thongs and have never been bitten. A couple of years ago was back in Oz for a holiday and cutting some firewood and sure enough was bitten by a centipede. I can only ever remember seeing 2 in Oz and 1 had to bite me.

In April this year I walked into the computer room just as one of those big black wasps flew past the fan and it was blown in behind my glasses, it bit me a few times before I could get the glasses off. My wife was on the computer and thought I was going crazy.

  10. Not sure why everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. There are always two sides

to a story. Its not always farang 'right' thai 'wrong'

No one is 'jumping on bandwagons' (don't even see one to be honest) - people are just answering the querry based on the 'facts' given - if we didn't then no post would ever be answered and it would be a fairly unimpressive forum. If the wife wants to post her sode of the story, or to start a thread asking about 'how to divorce my farang husband of 6 weeks' then we will answer that too. The guy asked for help - poster are trying to give him such - if she asks, I'm sure she will get a similar response.

Wolf the guy is not asking for help. As he has stated 4 posts above yours "Thanks I made the post not looking for help but just to advise others of this happening to them." and he has stated this several times.

He is just warning of what can happen.

  11. "for sure" in Thailand can mean a BIG maybe

How many of us have had the "I do on Monday for sure, jing jing" only to have a no-show come Mon, Tue, Wed......

lol, I had the balcony repainted during christmas. They came and ripped away the christmas lighting I'd spent 4 hours installing two days earlier. Then they painted HALF the balcony and then had to go and get more paint.

Still waiting for 'em to come back so I can put back the christmas lighting...

Might be just a painters thing not thai lol. I had some painters organized for 8am they turned up at 11am then sat down to eat for an hour.

  12. Hi Colabamumbai

You obviously know you made a mistake and are smart enough to move on. A lot smarter than some who have posted here with crap guessing they know the story guessing she is a bar girl guessing you frequent bars, clubs and the like. We all make mistakes and the smart ones learn from them.

    Good luck in the future

  13. Best of luck in this situation.

Let all hope we don't read in the press that another Farang has been attacked or killed in Korat

Watch your back, this is Thailand after all. If the lawyer your using in Korat is the one that I know of, I am a little surprised that he advised you to pay her the money? If he isn't the lawyer that I am thinking of, I may be able to give you his contact details and you may like to get a second option.

Please link to/quote the post where the lawyer advised him to pay her the money.

    I don't remember reading that

Here is the quote that I read, If I have read it incorrectly sorry

Have lawyer now I am beginning to think that this was a set up to do just what she is trying to do. I new her 6 months she rushed the marriage.I wanted to wait a year. Maybe this is not the first time she has done this. I do not reply to her threats but do keep all the email messages for my lawyer for possible future actions. She is so stupid she takes ex husband to a friend of mines hotel to apply for work. I told her 2 weeks ago I had a n investigator take photos, Unfortunately in Thailand you need to catch your spouse in sexual relations to get a quick divorce. Not just with her ex husband. I am wondering if they are part of a gang and he gives the orders. I have copies of his ID card as well as copies of everything of hers. I did return her passport and house keys as the lawyer suggested.I did pay her bank 56,000 bhat in back mortgage payments.

She rushed the marriage? Don't you have a say ?

She is so stupid? That's funny.

The lawyer told you to pay her 56,000 baht so you did. Who's lawyer is he?

    Keep 'em coming.

Yep you've read it incorrectly. Colabamumbai never stated the lawyers told him to pay money, he actually stated , and I quote "No lawyer ever told me to pay her money" . It was tabs053 who stated the lawyers told Col to pay her 56,000 baht. tabs053 just needs to learn to read.

  14. Oh so it's not as some board members have suggested and went from Thailand to Cambodia to Laos to Vietnam to China to Kazakhstan to Russia to Ukraine to Poland to Germany to France then home to the UK. Now that really would have been an expedition.

I just hope that if Lee is guilty he recieves an appropriate punishment. I feel sorry for the victim and his family, having served in some very dangerous places he and his family would have thought he was now safe.

  15. LOL ....and since when and WHERE do you get a STAMP IN if you dont have a STAMP OUT ???

My guess is he just used another, maybe a stolen passport.....but thats all just guess work.

I hope for himself that England does not deliver him to the Thai Authorities because he will face death penalty here. AND the only ppl which knows whats really happend there in this special night are him and the victim! There are always two sides to a story. Hope someone will follow up and keep us posted.

BTW, I am just SHOCKED how bloodthirsty the Thaivisa community is sometimes, not all of you for sure, but way to many of you guys remind me of a lynch mob.

I am deeply concernd about your future and your mental healthiness, a lot of you sound like drunken stonetable politicians in front of a Thai Supermarket

stop typing bulls-it and GET A LIFE

It would be in England's best interest to agree to the the expedition. England requests many criminals to be expedited from Thailand yearly and they seem to always comply. If they refuse it could damage the cooperation in future requests. I think this is why the police seem to think they can get him back here within a week. I have never heard of any foreigners being executed here in my many years living here. According to the book 4,000 days: No farangs have been executed in Thailand in the last hundred or more years.

Though they may only agree to expedite without the death penalty being sought, as this is common practice with expeditions between nations.

From what the thai's tell me, murder only gets 5 to 10 years in most cases but if one causes serious injury without death, that can be sentenced to 20 years. Reduced sentences can be had if they have a good lawyer.

As to the bloodthirsty BM's here, CONVICTED murderers should be punished the harshest, i don't think anyone else here feels otherwise.

As to your comment "GET A LIFE" you should have consideration of how that may sound to any of the victims family members who might see that comment!!

BM's are also especially concerned because this is not a typical bar fight that resulted in a death. Plenty of witness came foreword wondering why with Lee's reputation of past violence was he still allowed to be here.

I do hope that the police also arrest anyone who may have aided Lee in his escape, the reports indicate they were watching his girlfriend and mother closely.

They may agree to an extradition they may even agree to expedite the extradition but I think he has already been on an a big expedition to leave the country. :)

  16. There isn't any physical way to measure any difference between a Thai who came from Thailand and a Thai whose ancestors came from China. There is no way to measure how many Chinese ancestors a Thai person has even though he or she thinks all of his ancestors are Thai. So even though someone thinks he knows someone whose ancestors are 25% Chinese the combination of Chinese heritage in his Thai ancestors may add up to be more than 25%. In any event there is no discernable difference between a Thai person or a Chinese person other than language proficiency. The only other difference is in some peoples minds.

You are discussing a subject that has been the meat of bigots since the dawn of time.

Half breeds make pretty babies. If I said half breeds make ugly babies I would be a bigot. But the same is true in the first statement. The only reason people care to talk about their Chinese ancestors is a perceived elevation of status. Which is also bigotry the same as white people in some countries don't like to talk about black ancestors.

There was a time when Chinese in Thailand were severely persecuted, not so long ago, only 65 years or so and then many people chose not to talk about their Chinese ancestry.

I used to date a Japanese/Chinese girl from Taiwan. Her mother was a captive of a Japanese brothel during WW II. She told everyone she was Chinese.

You don't see how ill-informed this kind of talk is?

Maybe Eurasians look more attractive because they look healthier. It could be just a matter of looking for a healthy partner to reproduce with. (I know this has nothing to do with Chinese/thais)

  17. Chinese Thais are more attractive than Chinese people because they have mixed with the Native Thais (to some extent). For some genetic reason, mixing races creates more attractive babies.

    Thank you Dr Josef Mengele....

    Couldn't have said it better.

Chunky1's post is absolute nonsense. He's comparing "attractiveness" from a small minority mixed ethnic group in Thailand with the looks of 1,3 Billion people.

    How absurd.

    LaoPo

Laopo I think Chunky1 is generalizing as the last part of his post would suggest. I personally cannot refute his statement but as they say" beauty up to you" or something similar.

Why are so many "superstars" in Thailand look krung?

I personally don't think I could have a relationship with a HiSo Chai as they have a different definition of fun to myself. I don't dislike them I just have different interests etc.

  18. Any CCTV camera's in the hospital? Some video footage would be good to go with your audio.

Sounds like your ex is on yaba to go off like that.

I think a lot here can relate well to this story as many come to Thailand after messy breakups in their own countries.

    Good luck

  19. To OP (tatee)

My wife is Thai and before she met my falung friends, some of those friends had differing views of what to expect.

I had a work friend who had convienced himself that she was indeed a hooker without ever meeting her, so I invited him and his wife to dinner.

After meeting her they both thought she was a lovely person and whenever I see him he always asks how she is.

I had another friend who was also my housemaid before my wife joined me in Farangland, she would constantly refer to my wife in derogatory terms, after they met, my exhousekeeper thinks the sun shines out of my wife.

All of the rest of my friends had positive thoughts about my wife before they met.

Out of all of my friends and family they all think my wife is great and a lovely person after meeting her.

You sound like an intelligent person and I would imagine you would have the same positive impressions on people as my wife has.

It all helps on changing peoples perceptions of what Thailand and Thais are.

  20. I never said you should go home, you just should not say Thailand is a safe country. Also you have to take into account that (and i cant prove it) things are not recorded well here. Im sure things are better recorded in the West. I just posted this because i got sick and tired of people saying how safe Thailand was.

I'm not running around saying Thailand is safe, I'm just making a point that your table doesn't make a good case for saying Thailand is much more dangerous than other big population centers around the world. Thailand is definitely not a 3rd world country either. You need to get out and see what a 3rd world country looks like before using such terminology.

As far as suicides and murders are concerned, I believe the Pattaya media report every single one, which is suprising considering it's a tourist hub and doesn't need bad publicity.

Im not comparing Thailand with other tourist destinations, im not a tourist i live here. So it would be silly to compare it to tourist destinations. I compare it with developed countries in Europe. Calling Thailand a 3rd world country is a bit over the top but how can you trust a police force that is so corrupt. How can you expect that all suicides were real. Many expats question it.

I think some people are confused about what a third world country is, a third world country is one in which was colonized. Thailand has never been colonized thus it is not a third world country.
