  1. Let me guess here, that this is a car that was sold to a first time buyer, who does not have any drivers training. He is very lucky that he did this in Thailand and not in USA where he would be paying for many years of misery. Including drunk driving loss of driving license, His insurance would double for many years and paying for damages and lost revenue too the railroad and oh by the way still paying for a smashed up car. Good thinking Boy

Hey... but that's why Thailand is so great you can get away with pretty much anything you like, normally the police are so busy chacing money trails they dont normally notice whats going on under their noses and they dont really care (unless theres money in it for them). Fantastic this anarchy isn't it ?

  2. RIP poor little bugger.

But on a lighter note... as the forum thread seems to be heading:

    1. They will probably sue the holly water suppler for supplying fake holy water, were there clear instructions on the label?

    2. Perhaps they can find a foreigner to blame?

    3. The police should be trying to hunt down the tiger spirit as it might attack again!

And back to the seriousness again: I think religions should be banned, and education should try to debunk superstition, unfortunately it seems to be part af the Asian Psyche.

  3. Grab the latest issue of Lonely Planet Thailand

I disagree and would say almost all tourist guides will not show the negatives and will promote the country and its people as if they were being paid by someone!

Most people will be very disappointed when believing what they read in a guide book.

I am kind of agree on the comment for a guide book, to me, guide book should be one of the many references that we should read before deciding whether to visit that place or not. Forums on the other hand are good when there is review by travelers who have been there.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Simon

    Agree

  4. Ridiculous... I agree vehicles in rough or dangerous condition should be off the roads but what about my vintage 1929 Rolls Royce, which is in perfect condition !

All they need to do is enforce the rules already in place, is that so hard. bah.gifw00t.gifbah.gif

yes... totally ridiculous you should be paying 4 x the tax... not the same......

Oh I don't mind paying 20 time more or a hundred time more, cant care less how much it costs. cheesy.gif

  5. Usually foreigners stop at the traffic lights when they change to RED but Thais don't recognize this dangerous (foreign) procedure and they end up ramming into the back of the slowing or stationary vehicle, causing the foreigner to cause an accident.

This is a very dangerous situation so foreigners must be educated especially regarding the need to accelerate when they think the lights might be changing to red, also they must be made aware that if the lights are already on red it may not signal a requirement to stop and in fact it may be more beneficial to accelerate across the junction as to minimize the damage that may be caused.

Rule number one in Thailand is:

"whenever there is an accident where a foreigner is involved it must be the foreigners fault because Khon Thai know how to drive and foreigners... don't (well that's just the way it is)"

"Info taken from the Thai highway code book"

  6. Sounds a bit racist to me.

There is absolutely no reason and no proof that Asian in general and Thais in particular are less intelligent than mixed-race children.

What might be true is that in many cases mixed-race children in Thailand get a better education than their Thai friends, simply because many mixed couples have the financial means to send their children to better schools. To conclude from this that these children are more intelligent is in my view wrong.

If you ask an US American, he would probably say that Asian descendents are more intelligent that US Americans, as can be seen by the number of High-School, College and University graduates compared to their quota in population, but again, it probably originates in a different emphasis on the importance of education form their Asian parents.

    I think you are wrong.

My 19 yo son kept running away from school and effectively had around 2 years of formal education in a lousy Thai school and would not go near a school after age 10 (Not all farangs have the big bucks to send them to good schools)

He will listen to a foreign word ONCE and just simply remember it, he has self taught himself Japanese apart from speaking perfect English and Thai. he knows pretty much everything about computers (PC) people come to him to fix things all the time. He can remember all the words in a song after listening ONCE in Japanese Thai & English. He just recently opened his own coffee shop and taught himself all the barista stuff in one day and refused to go to the free lessons given by Bon-Cafe when you buy a coffee machine. The first time he tried riding a motor cycle (A Honda phantom Gears and clutch) he mastered it within 5 mins !! and he was 14 at the time !!!

I could go on but I think you can see he is not your normal Thai, that bit of farang/Thai mix must have done something up in his noodle funny thing is his Thai mum nor myself are over average IQ. He definitely thinks differently to most people his is not a savant or dyslexic etc.

Any foreigner who has lived here for years and cannot afford to send their kids to good schools must be of low IQ what with all the advantages we have as foreigners to make money.

Many mixed kids have psychological probkens due tobtge stupidity and incompatibility of their parents.

Ironically often the ugly Issan girl and fat slimy farang have the best looking kids.

Sent from my GT-I9152 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

I have plenty of money, lots of it. I just said some farangs don't have the big bucks, the reason he dint go to school is because he refused to go (it was many years of tears, tantrums, & frankly hell) We tried a good school but he refused that as well, he would disappear for days you have no idea of the stress levels, he is so strong minded and impossible to control.

My point in my post was he is super clever and it has nothing to do with school !!!!

The funny thing is his thai mum nor myself are over average IQ.

Sorry couldn't highlight that bit of your post cos it's against TV rule so you are saying both y6ou and your wife are what average IQ or below average?

    Average

  9. A resounding No from me.

Many other governments in the world would be preferable to what the Thais have now, hopefully the police would be taken over by the foreign government as well.

Perhaps we could ask some candidate countries to apply for invasion rights, here is my list of desirable and undesirable candidates:

    Desirable:

Denmark, Greenland, Iceland, Scotland, Iran, Belgium, Australia, Switzerland, South Africa, Luxembourg, Finland, Italy, Ireland, France, Laos, Japan ...

    Undesirable:

UAE, UK, USA, Afghanistan, (most predominantly Muslim countries but not all) Russia, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, Spain, Grease...

The 2 lists could become quite large then people could vote on which countries to invite to take over the Thai Parliament, Thailand could become the new HUB of foreign government takeovers.

TV people please ad to the 2 lists so we can get started ASAP on this.

  10. Year after year and look at all the people smile, the people need to stand up!!! That my friends is the only way it will stop...

Stand up and the flooding will stop? I don't understand the mechanics of that...

Ah you see... Flooding is an act of God so if everyone stood up at the same time god will notice that these people don't take things sitting down, but on the other hand others will need to bow down to the direction of some old boxy building in the UAE, only problem with that is they will all drown, but god will notice that as well, there are 2 problems with this 1- there isn't a god and 2- if there is, he couldn't care less what happens. For everyone else just smile as much as you can this will definitely make the problems go away because nasty things don't happen to people who put on a silly dumb smile when things get really bad.

The above ideas are (sort of) inspired from the latest cutting edge science research into string theory, rope theory and little vibrating rubber bands, and everything else we don't understand.

  11. Will this stop the Thai Police from riding their motorcycles on the Sukhumvit Road footpaths?

About 15 years ago I was walking on the foot path at the Klong Toey end of Soi 26 the path at that time was narrow, a cop on a bike rode up behind me beeping his horn wanting to get past on his mc. I was so pissed off I stopped in my tracks turned to face him I reached out and took out his ignition key and through it across to the other side of the Rama 4 road!

He was so shocked that he just sat there and did nothing, perhaps he was scared of me, as I am a big farang and I am not threatened by police or anyone else. w00t.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Perhaps more people (especially Thais) should challenge these police law breakers?
