I am yet again delighted that I don't live in Phuket and a very long time ago made the decision never to go there again.
Cheers for making my day, thanks.
[from sunny Chonburi]
Maybe Phuket is happy about that situation too!!

I came back from a few days in Bangkok yesterday. I took a meter taxi from Pin Klao Bridge to Suvarnabhumi airport which took 42 min and cost me 320 Thb included the toll fees.
Had planned to take the airport bus into town when arrived in Phuket but flight landed before schedule and I hate to sit and wait for a bus I know always are late so I took a "meter" taxi from Phuket Airport to Samkong which now is "metered" to Thb 500,-
Up 100 Thb from December last year.
I know of course that a "meter" taxi here is not "meter taxi" but just to hear the drivers response I asked if he not drove on meter as the car is equipped with a meter and got a interesting discussion with the driver all the way from the airport and back home. He defended the prices in Phuket with no return fare and now in low season he was lucky to get one customer per day. He had previously drove taxi in Bangkok for and there it was always customers he said but had to drive much more and traffic jam. When I asked if he thought he could get a return fare if the prices was similar to Bangkok the response was Phuket is different, when I responded with oh you mean can work less for same amount or most likely more income annually he clearly got angry and the rest of the journey went in Formula one speed.
Are you sure it wasn't IrishIvan driving the meter taxi - moonlighting from his normal tuk tuk job.

I can beat you all. Day before yesterday I, against my usual judgement, followed the instructions of the "Parking Attendant" at BKK Phuket Hospital. Reversing a bit blind he directed me staright into a barrier around a tree. Luckily travelling very slowly so no damage done.
Another lesson learned!!

Ha Ha I got pulled over just outside Chumpon the other day by the Highway Police. Guy sauntered over to the car and in pretty good thai/english asked me for "One chicken Lek".
Took a while for both the missus and myself to figure out he was actually after 100 baht. Why it is called a Chicken Lek/Small Chicken is beyond me. Learn something new every day. Anyway 100 baht later all was smiles and I was off on my way again.

If you have never lived in Africa then you have no idea what corruption really is.
This is a completely spurious argument. The poster thinks that by stating his personal experience of another continent he is somehow contributing to the discussion..... I'd like to hear how.
What arguement?

Sometimes farang do get justice
I know of a case where a farang in Bangkok bought a pick-up truck and put it in his girlfriend's name. She then left him and took the pick-up with her to her home in the north. The farang went after her, found her, and was awarded the pick-up.
Sent from my i-mobile IQ 6 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
Agreed. I know a guy whos GF sold the truck which was in her name but he took her to court and won the monies back as he had actually paid for the truck.
Weird things do happen here all the time and I would not have believed it had I not been close enough to know.

Plenty around in Maha Sarakham. Drive past 2 on the way into the local town.

I sent my 2 girls to Cravens in Chalong, off the Cha Fa Road, near to Home Pro at the roundabout.
Place is run by Daniel and his wife, Danny is from Manchester and runs a real decent place, predominately they teach in ENglish but they also have some thai lessons its the law in thailand. They have a great play area and everything is clean and above board. My girls loved it.
Take a run past and visit them, they are always friendly and the staff are excellent and long staying unlike other places.
Just tell him Grace and Summer's dad sent you.
Interesting. Please forward details of staff turnover in the other schools compared to Cravens. As you can imagine with our childrens futures at stake such aspersions need to be followed up on.

Just to clarify things I am not the person who was caught by Immigration. This was posted on Facebook by the person caught by Immigration. It seems he wants everyone to know about it.So, Are you bragging or complaining?
Seems you want everyone to know about it - sort of if they can ever decipher the OP.

Borabue, Maha Sarakham all the reservoirs, ponds klongs etc in very dire straits. We have our rice planted but at this rate expecting the same as last year when we had an approx 70% drop in yield. Pathetic really considering yields here pretty poor normally anyway. We didn't even bother trying to reap about half as mostly grass and weeds.

I checked out about six here in the Rawai/Chalong area.
I settled for Buds International Kindergarten, and have been very impressed to date:
www.buds-phuket.com
Also there is a good supply of rental accommodation in the area.
I too intend to send my daughter to Buds in a few months time. Good to hear some positive feedback from a present pupil.
As a matter of interest a good way to discover which language is prevelant in a school is to visit during playtime/ break and listen to what language the kids speak to each other in. No better proof.

I have never experienced anything like your post. But I suspect that if it did happen it would be my wife who stopped it because she doesn't take much nonsense from anybody (including me).
Very similar here. I would actually feel sorry for anyone making snide remarks re our family as my Missus would have their balls for breakfast.

We have our own small farm in Isaan and grow all our own rice for consumption. Not too many chemicals there as only 1 crop per year dependent on rain. Also the rice is milled in a small momma and poppa mill in the village and not polished - lovely stuff!!!
I do feel sorry for others without access to same.

Amazing how the issue is about the loss of trade with the US and not the actual abuse - damning in itself.
