  1. I think, the municipally needs to collect parking fees at Chalong pier during the 'party-hours'.

It's so crowded, people parking, wherever they want! And blocking the road down to the pier, too. giggle.gif

Nope, haven't been there, also not planing, to go there, too!

I did say USEFUL information ...

The parking situation is part of the atmosphere, isn't it?

And besides that, isn't it useful, to know, that parking in the night, at the pier in Chalong, can be a mess, on O2 'beach-party' days?

I was referring to atmosphere inside of the place. Parking at Chalong Pier and on that road has always been a bit of a nightmare, so I am not too concerned about that. Didn't mean to sound bitchy, just would like some USEFUL information regarding the questions I originally posted.

Why don't you just go and have a look - if you can find parking that is. 55555

  2. If you cant trust the Missus 100% then whats the point in being with her? A life of paranoia and watching over you shoulder to me is not a life at all. There are plenty of trustworthy Thai girls and if you don't have one, take yours back to where you found her an find another. Life's too short.

    I agree 100%.

+1 Would never dream of marrying anyone I didn't trust.

  3. Live close to Borabue and go fishing regularly, local lakes and game fishing in Khon Kean for big cats (catch & release - farang competition usually 10+ people - Frenchman has caught 60kg & 80kg there). Snakeheads in Resevour down by Nah Chuck, give me a pm for answer to any questions and let us know when your up this way and we'll sort you out with a few trips. Usually have company of 2 or 3 other Farangs so the beer and conversation flows all day.

    Tight lines

Sounds great. We come and go a bit from Phuket. Will be up there again in the New Year for a few months.

Will pm telephone number so we can chat nearer the time.

  4. The travel agent is Asia world travel in north bridge up near the restaurant the red tea pot

Head in there when your off and see what sort of flight deals they do

When I used them they took a copyofmy credit card and when I booked a flight they could do it there and then

They were very legit and honest

Prior to renting a pad in pattaya have a good look around I'm not sure what your budget is but try look on Thai websites ,get a friend to help you source something that is value for money

There are many guys o this site with huge amounts of experience in Thailand who can lead you the right way

I would suggest from my experience there are some things you will need to orginise .

1 I don't care what anybody else says get international health insurance

    2 open a bank account

3 reduce the limit on your credit card to 1500 aus dollars just enough to get out and home shud things blow up in your face

4 Never lend any body any money

5 find at least one good friend and exchange details of you family in Perth in case anything happens to you

    6 wear a rubber

Best of luck with your adventure

    On a side note

I prebook all my flights for the year (I'm lucky my employer reimburses me )

Currently I pay on average over the year 650 aus when I prebook

    Best of luck

    Steve

yes always wear a rubber golden rule,i wasnt sure about opening up a bank account might be worth looking into,i havent as such thought about an exit strategy dont worry ive been to thailand many times had gfs i know how things can turn very quickly,Live and learn if things go well and it works out i will get a bit more serious with a thai gf but for know i will be making the most of it.I will have a look at the travel agent in nth bridge see if they are ok.

Thanks for the advice much appreciated.

I have been doing this for 12 years on the mines out of Perth.

Take Steve's advise and get a bank account ASAP. Transfer money directly out of Aus into the account in AUD. Best exchange rate and saves a lot of hassles.

    Welcome to the game.

As for airfares look at Tiger Airways.

  5. Who Hoo. Sitting in Changi airport on my way back to the so called "cess pit" - Patong.

Eat your heart out all those stuck in some dreary little village in middle of nowhere western country.

I know where I would rather be!!!!

  6. My daughter is called Jennifer Ice.

Jennifer shortens to Jennie and is easily pronounced in both English and Thai.

The Ice part comes from the wife who decided that because both her and I are born on Tuesdays, and the daughter was supposed to be born on a Tuesday, too many "hot" people required a cold name. Daughter actually decided to come out on a friday but we kept the name anyway.

So it is Ice or nam kaeng?

    It is Ice

  7. Reads like a load of make believe nonsense, or the OP is daft (can I say daft whistling.gif ) . coffee1.gif

Having been to many a Mor Lum in both Nong Khai and Maha Sarakham I have never been to one where there has not been at least a few fights and the ever presence of the "security" does little to prevent things blowing up.

We are due to have a "concert" for our new house in mid january and I am dreading the occasion. Band booked for 5pm to 11pm - just enough time have at least 4 fights I reckon. Have had to splash out 3,000 baht for security and the "monkey house" on the back of a pick up.

  8. 30 Baht for a 3 hour queue and a panadol!!!

Thai older Thai man that I know used the 30 baht for an operation for stomach cancer (removed large part of intestine) but had to use his own money for the chemo therapy after the operation for a year.

Go to any smaller town in Isaan and you see line and lines of people outside the many clinics and virtually no-one at the flash hospitals.

    I wonder why??

  9. Is there any way to step up the voltage to my house? We are a fair way from the mains lines and with the length of the supply wires I believe we have very low voltage power in the house. All appliances run hot, especially chargers for laptops etc.

  11. Where the Hell is that Shop, I,m Thinking of a Ute Run and perchance I could fill up with Rice, as my Local Shop sells it for considerably more. More like Tesco,s prices. At that price I guess the little Stones in the Rice are allowed for in the Weight, or else its a Diddle.

Me too. Come on where is this place you can buy rice for 7 baht per kilo. forget the Ute I could buy a big truck with a few days proceeds from this.

Also the beef - local prices here are between 200 and 220 baht per kilo. Guess I may need 2 trucks!!!

  12. Anybody into fishing around the Maha Sarakham area?

I will be back there for a few months in the New Year, close to Borabue.

Only been after snakehead and jungle perch so far but am keen on all types of fishing.

  13. You do not neccesarily have to get the special numbers. There used to be a shop on Sai Nam Yen road in Patong that would paint your existing plates - moved in the last few months to who knows where. Pity as I was just about to get mine done. Not sure of the legalities but many get them done this way.
