  1. Well my little daughter is now 18 months old so want to start making plans for schooling.

After any latest advice/experience regarding schools in KK. I have come across many comments such as "you should move back to Australia as Thai schools are no good" or "All the rich Thais send their kids overseas to school" etc etc.

My thoughts are indeed University overseas is probably a good idea but is it really necessary for primary/secondary education?

I must clarify that I do have the funds for a private school here and my daughter has dual nationality.

We have a "farmlet" in Maha Sarakham hence the desire to be within striking distance for weekends etc. Have lived in Phuket for quite a few years and quite frankly wish to move on.

  2. I too am learning how to use one. Got hold of a 9 foot one and after a few lessons and many failed /dismal attempts actually went out today and bought a 5 foot one to learn on. Not sure if I am taking the easy way out or not but time will tell. I have actually caught quite a few fish but admittedly this is in my stocked pond in front of the house so cheating a bit really.

  3. Live near Nong Khai and would suggest you have your wife check things out for you, not me. My wife looks after all this stuff and judging by what I am hearing does okay. Me I just drive the dam_n thing.

I live on 21,870 baht a month that's it and it is enough for us.....

You are very exposed if you have an accident whilst driving!!!

  4. pla sill

The Thais will cook them in a wok with salt, they taste nice

If you get a whole lot of them an bout 6 or 7 cm long then deep fry them whole dipped in a light tempura batter - delicious. Jus like Whitebait for those who know.

  5. I cant imagine I would ever base my reason for living somewhere the nationality of the local bar.

One of the great things about Phuket is the huge range of different nationalities here and the bars that they operate. Cheap or Expensive, from Thai to Italian to Swedish to Australian I can pick anything I want within a 15 minute drive. Certainly couldn't have done that back "home".

Wow the great Swedish/Italian/Australian......pick your nationalit chef... named Somchai.

  6. someone told me theres a new owner at phuket fishing park, australian guy.. cheaper prices too 800 baht a day including rods and bait may have to negotiate though? and he said hes stocked it with more species of fish .

    New owner since last week????

  7. So, let us all in on the secret.... which bar has been sold to this Belgian gentleman?? ...... will we now be able to get decent frites in Patong.... Moules as well maybe ?

The Celtic Bar and I have just been informed the new owner is Dutch not Belgian

  8. In defence of Phuket Fish park I went to visit the other day and in the 15 odd mins I was there saw 2 redtail, one pacu and a nice sized carp caught by the only angler there.

    Prices are ridiculous though.
