  1. I dunno if this is a European vs American thing but in America our cake icing tastes sweet, not like butter, or rather margerine and oil.

    http://en.wikipedia....cing_%28food%29

that is what i like, fwiw.

Is this why one in three yank adults is classed as obese.

Not to worry The Mail online Nov. 7 2010 headlines" Fat Britain: Tackling the obesity epidemic" so the UK is joining the fat folk, the French have proposed a fat tax on sweets.

Look around you in Thailand at how the kids look now and how they looked 20 years ago, big difference in weight. The world is catching the US in a hurry.

  2. Why in the world should I worry about a full body scanner. Just had three kidney stones lithotripsy removed three weeks ago. That's a dozen people in a small room looking at my junk. Two days ago I had a drop dead gorgeous Chinese American resident (female) an assisting nurse and a male teaching surgeon remove the stent, your not asleep for this doesn't really hurt and your internals are on 4 screens to see whats happening. My second surgery of the year the just as many people looking at my naked body with the first one.

It's only the shell you travel in don't get uptight over a few people checking you out, I'm sure they've seen better and are truly bored looking at people pass through the scanner and probably give not a thought to what they've seen only what they're looking for.

  3. Sounds like there is some fraud in the system in the UK. How about 15 million illegal immigrants with a huge portion claiming gov't benefits without having ever worked in the US. Many mothers claiming benefits saying husband left me, while husband works without paying taxes and drive home in his SUV and drives his wife to the store to get gov't approved purchases for children while paying cash for the beer cigs etc

I listen to their comments how little regard they have for the US and it's citizens and saying just how stupid we are as a people while they live off a system that won't even send anyone out to verify anything as there are just too many people to service in office, and no pressure from the top to do it.

  4. 'mogoso' if she goes to the Hospital and ask for a blood/glucose test, if it is very high they will give her an injection.. Is she type 2 or type 1 ?

She has been going a lot including several hospitalizations and they spoke of diet and I think finally she gets it, and has quit eating rice and noodles. She kept saying how can I live without eating rice, the eating of rice was en"grained" in her. My wife kept telling her you cannot live if you eat rice. But even with diet its going to be a tough row to hoe for us to deal with this long distance. We were supposed to be in Thailand permanently at this point but it'll be 7 months before we get there now.

I want to thank all who replied

  5. Mommas let her diabetes get outta control.

What are the best and easiest meters to use ?

Where can they be purchased and at what price?

Shes totally ignorant of computer usage, so just need it to give her a number.

Also are the disc operated ones better than strips?

    What are the least invasive?

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions

  6. Tip: I always go to K&K Business, halfway Tapae Road right next to Tapae Inn hotel, just before the + junction (AIS office).

This guy is an Indian, straight and down to earth and he does a lot for his customers. Always finds you the best rates, sometimes advises to wait with a booking if a little later you will save money etc, he really cares..

I prefer him over any Thai as I know I can trust him, and most Thais have too much reserves.

A smart guy you can trust, his wife is lovely too..

    K&K Business

    053-252388

I've done business several times with him also, and concur. He has always been a man of his word. I've called him from the US years back to handle a ticket for my wife who was in Thailand and there were no problems even with just reading off the numbers from a credit card to pay for it.

  7. Personally I'd prefer to see George W "half a biscuit" Bush extradited to Iraq to face charges of invasion and the deaths of 110,000 people who did (and do) nothing more than defend their country from a group of well armed foreign invaders that came from a land far far away, some of whom carry army issue Zippo lighters engraved with "Death is My Business, and Business is Good" - pathetic... - set the Russian free...

Saadam would've killed more than that figure if he had stayed in power. Just what was his yearly average of slain citizenry.

  8. 1. i like to pay tax - because i live in europe and my government gives me lots in return.

    2. i do not think it is right for old rich amerikans/ arabs//thai/ and other perverts to buy young thai women.

Your governments in Europe are going broke from from the lots they are giving you in return for your taxes. You'll also find that the expat population is a majority European that do what you solely lay at the feet of others. Your superiority complex shows in your comments, yet you have no reason to feel superior to anyone, as you aren't.

  9. Jiaogulan is an adaptogen, antioxidant, and supports the immune system.

It originates from china, but they've been growing it in northern thailand for a while.

Goggle gynostemma pentaphyllum you find all sorts of facts and claims. I tend to believe some and discard others, but it's history is known.

What we drink comes from either Chiang Rai or Chiang Mai area depending on where momma goes to buy it the kilo bags. As we're stuck in Atlanta till July, momma ships it over. Online its about $69 per half kilo so even with shipping charges its still much less to send her shopping and to the post office, than to buy online. Besides it gives a her a good feeling that shes helping us, and she is.

  10. You could be correct, but that is not how I understood it. I thought he was pointing out that he now thinks it is a waste of money.

By the way, I was not necessarily agreeing with him - I am quite interested in holistic health - but I can understand his sentiments. :wai:

    Gynostemma Pentaphyllum

I bought some tea recommended by my son from the Kings store at the airport. I have blood work done at least every six months and was told I had a high potassium and needed to control my diet. Diet said no tea, bummer as I don't drink coffee. Going through the kichen cabinet I saw the package and pulled it out. reading the name from the package I goggled it and found it was leaves from a type of wild cucumber. Seemed to me it wasn't tea per se so I started drinking it. Its slightly sweet and not unpleasant. A few months later my potassium levels were just fine. whether or not it helped I dunno. Its just supposed to help bring your body into balance, but is supposedly stronger by far than ginseng.

I do know it won't keep kidney stones away as I now am the proud owner of five of them suckers

  11. They deserve every bit of the bashing. The naval venture may be worthwhile, but there more worthwhile causes on the home front, such as promoting democracy and not military political influence and power. If a government needs the military such as the now Ruling Democrats (sic) to keep them in power then there is no democracy or freedom.

What is so important about Democracy. True Democracy is mob rule, or two wolves and a sheep deciding whats for dinner.

Democratic elected representatives to administer a system of laws, not the mood of the mob or union makes more sense than to bandy about democracy as if it is some kind of war club.

  12. I was at the dam today at Doi Saket. It's not going to happen. It would have to rain 40 days and 40 nights to fill the reservoir. The offical that opened the flood gates, he received a promotion and that's why Bangkok is sinking.

    :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

  13. There are lots of long-haired dictionary's throughout Thailand. Their English is usually broken but they are useful, but sometimes can be expensive.

Seriously you might seek a college student willing to spend time teaching you while improving their English at with your dime. Get some children's books and work your way up.

  14. I believe the land goes to the mother. There is a land forum for such questions.

Mother has no blood relationship. It was her husband's mother. My wife her closest blood kin and most direct descendant.

  15. Granny died a couple of weeks ago, she had a good go at life living into her 90's. She had a small piece of land with a small home on it. The neighbors and distant relatives have stripped it bare, which wasn't much and since we've no use for the stuff, its ok with us.

The land needs to be transferred to my wife's name, therein lies the questions

!. How long a period does my wife have to do this?

    2. Can her mother do this for her or does she have to travel to Thailand to do it.?

    3. Does anyone have the phone number of land office or Amphur or wherever you go to answer questions posed if no definite answers posted. (Amphur Doi Saket)

Wife's mother is ailing and just got outta hospital, so shes not much help at this time

    Thanks all

  16. Not realy true though is it. The greedy are still getting golden goodbye's and massive pensions whilst a lot of their innocent workers are joining unemployment queues. The greedy have their million dollar lifestyles, protected pensions and off-shore tax free lump sums - whilst their ex-employees, suppliers and secondary companies (local shops and restaurants that depended on the office staff, etc) that are lossing their houses.

By greedy I suppose those who have worked harder or smarter to get what they have obtained. Very few people get ahead in life just by working a 40 hour work week, they get by, but don't get ahead. Some of those people took their money and took a risk and started a company that succeeded, did they just 40 hours per week to get it started and keep it running or did they bust their butt working 80 plus hours per week worrying about getting product out the door and meeting payrolls and taxes, ins etc

Meanwhile you the employee spent your weekends watching the tellie and some short pants men run up and down a field complaining to your fellow watchers of the tellie how poorly the company treats you as you down another beer. they are many abusers of capitalism who do get that golden parachute without the sweat that a founder went through but most work their butts off keeping a product going out the door and payroll met.

Some of the worst abuses are to come with the carbon taxes being proposed the crony capitalism will put a dent in everyone's wallet. Big labor unions and Al Gore own the CCX and Al Gore owns a big piece of the British carbon exchange. Who is out winning Noble prizes pushing an agenda that remove money from everyone's wallet without producing a product. The power given by socialist govt's with a kickback to them from carbon traders will be of such a size as to dwarf any penny enny golden parachutes. Then you'll see greed.

  17. To promote sex? Don't you thing Thailand have enough sex already?

Pay attention girl !!!! It's about sex education , not the promotion of SEX !

Even in the USA there are still children growing up without any knowledge of the

dangers of un-protected sex.Which includes, not only pregnancy but the possibility of getting

one of many sexually transferred diseases.

Also , I found after my many years here from the women I've met , some related stories of not knowing

what type of sanitary napkins or what a tampon was ; until they came to the Big Mango.

So , they teach thru displaying and create a interesting approach to instill this important knowledge about

    SEX !

Cause let's face it , everyone for the most part of their lives , are interested in learning about SEX !!!!!

That's why they plan to start teaching kindergarten classes about gay sex before hetro sex in the US I think at that age it's best left to the parents to explain any questions but Nambla is backing it and the ED Sec backs them
