  1. I can't remember what my plan B was, I'm actually up to about plan T. The only thing that scares me is that Plan Z is rapidly approaching, then what? :D:)

Why then you return to A, but actually it'll be plan A-1

If we hadda go my wife would make the decision, if I made it I'd go to Colombia. I love the cool weather in the mountains all year long, but still have the availability of tropical fruit. the language is no problem and cost of living isn't bad.

  2. Seriously, in this case either the perpetrator will flee the scene, in which case let him go, or not in which case you must neutralize the threat

which means prevent him from being able to harm you through whatever means available. If you do have a gun and the perpetrator becomes hostile then shoot him. This whole thing about shooting him in the leg is unrealistic.( The department I worked at in US said they had policy of shoot to disable, but then at the range we were taught only to shoot center of mass, in other words, in the chest.) If he has a gun he will kill you anyway, and if a person is untrained they may miss if aiming for smaller targets like legs. Most farang in Thailand do not have guns, so use whatever is handy such as knife, chair, stick or bare hands and make sure you do not stop attack until he is unconscious, dead or for whatever reason is no longer a threat. Then call the police.

If you spend time worrying about going to jail and lawsuits and other stuff you will most likely just die. The fact is even if you are right you will very likely be charged by police, but at least for myself that is better than being dead and leaving family at hands of criminals.

Good advice, most people untrained or unprepared for a situation of them using potentially deadly force would more than likely miss the assailant altogether trying something ridiculous as trying to hit them in the leg.

It is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6

  3. Th Red Shirts would be better served if Thaksin were jailed or assassinated. They could get along without his advice and financial contributions. They could use him as a martyr. More importantly, the government would no longer have a boogie man to blame for Thailand's problems.

I felt the removal of Thaksin was wrong and for a short while thought the reds were ok. Then the unions joined them, then the socialist and communist supporters joined and they lost me as I've watched in the US how they installed the Obamination and how they are but a thug army for him to use to intimidate honest citizens. The same type of violence that occurred in Thailand will accelerate in Europe as violence in Greece and other Euro states seems to be on the rise, and the main antagonists are of course the unions

  4. Sounds like responsible service of alcohol to me. :)

Of course, everyone recognises what an aweful substance alcohol is and it playing part in a large amount of assualts, domestic abuse, motor vehicle collisions and so forth.

It's a pity these new laws don't go far enough to ensure safety for all the worlds occupants & of course, irregardless of what the laws are its unlikely they will be enforced fairly. :D

Can you mean that a nanny state is the way to live? Pretty boring lifestyle. I don't frequent bars anymore, but if I want the occasional drink with a meal and can't get it out and about, why that leaves me to eat at home and only travel to the fridge and grab one out.

  5. My take on the characters commented on.

The Galloping Gourment and Gordon Kerr both wusses and not fit for men to watch.

Gordon Ramsey hot tempered, foul mouthed, talented, control freak, with a passion for cooking that makes him a great chef and businessman. And I guess one on one in a non business setting an alright sort of person.

Steven Segal certainly a one sided actor who will give the same performance movie after movie. Gives time and money to many charities, including some in Thailand. Certainly knowledgeable in martial arts, an expert with handguns, a blues guitarist and a assistant chief of a police dept in Louisiana. Don't know if we could be friends, but we have shared interests

  6. The actual work is rather easy if you have proper orifices to replace the ones in unit

In the US natural gas is used in your appliances at 3.5" water column while LPG operates at 11". It's easy enough to drill out a LPG appliance with the proper drill kit to operate on natural. However to operate on LPG your orifices will need to be replaced as they are too big to utilize, too much gas will pass through.

Contact your manufacturer and purchase the proper orifices

  7. Straight people tend to be more anxious about it though. :D

    /quote]

    lmao :):D :D

I've always been put to sleep but wake up and start asking questions. Whats that etc, which always gets me more sleepy juice :D

  8. It would warm the cockles of my heart, if it didn't affect me, but to listen to Soros whine does raise my spirits. His paid for lap dog that his multiple outlets such as media matters still support whole heartedly, is ruining the US economy. Some think on purpose, I think incompetence, cronyism and political dogma is more likely. But the policies are truly inane, and priorities are skewed.

  9. It is possible that the banks say the hel_l with it, we don't want to do the IRS's book keeping for them, we will close all US passport holders accounts. So you would have no way to get your money into thailand or be able to cash your SS check.

Any thoughts on what to do if that happens? Short of moving.

I would think that having your SS check deposited into a US bank and the drawing it out through an ATM machine would be still availible. Wouldn't get anywhere near the money limits

  10. "Teabaggers came into existence after the election of BH Obama all other statements in your diatribe therefore become invalid, but you knew that when you typed it out."

Oh, dear. I hope I haven't cause your rash to break out again. You disliked me using the term "teabaggers", and I suggest that you replace it with "republicans". If you do that, you'll realize that my post was correct...but you knew that before you typed it out.

Assumptions as to my political party are incorrect, but as I wouldn't expect a proper assumption from the Left, why would I expect an accurate observation of when the teaparty was started, nah the truth ain't in ya.

From pollsters who vary somewhat on the makeup of the tea party, of which I'm not a member, 15% are registered Demos and 25% are independents. The rest republicans or libertarians. What it is from my reading is people who believe in smaller gov't less taxes, personal responsibility. What I do disparage is outright lies and distortions to make a point

  11. "Guantanamo: Obama pledged to close the detention facility at Guantanamo. On Jan. 22, his second day in office, he issued an executive order ordering Guantanamo closed in a year. Waiting, waiting, waiting...."

In case you forgot, the teabaggers wanted Gitmo to close, and Obama supported it. The teabaggers then declared that it was wrong to close Gitmo, and they prevented the senate from providing funds to close Gitmo.

"Pork-barreling: No Earmarks (Pork-Barreling) in the Budget or any bills"

Adding pork to bills has been in American politics for more than a hundred years - it was not initiated by Obama. When Bill Clinton tried a line-item veto - removing all pork - the teabaggers complained, claiming that the democratic president was doing something unconstitutional.

Teabaggers came into existence after the election of BH Obama all other statements in your diatribe therefore become invalid, but you knew that when you typed it out.

  12. Would you be able to live on that in the UK? Be really hard to live in Thailand on that small of a stipend. With the high rate of taxation in the UK, it'd seem they could do better. I've read the average Social Security payment in the US is $1000 per month. Some where around 640 GBP. Until recently there was a COLA (cost of living allowance) but due to the financial situation it been suspended by Congress (who voted themselves a raise)

  13. If would insist on traveling this difficult route to receive compensation, try White and Case. Don't know how many offices they have but they do have a Bangkok office as well as London, Washington, Miami and Los Angeles. Believe the advice given above replies is quite sound.
