  1. We don't need Forest Rangers. What we really need are more submarines, F-35 fighters, etc. Maybe health care workers should be next on the chopping block.
  2. It's not the "result of the two-year long COVID-19 pandemic". It's the result of a govt whose first responsibility is to itself.
  3. Bad advice. Laws regarding defamation/libel are nothing like those in western countries. They WILL track you down if they feel like it, and the police will help.
  4. You're slightly better off than I am.. Mine does not work at all, has never worked, and shows no sign of ever working. I have deleted/re-downloaded a couple of times, complained a couple of times, received no answer, and have been hanging on for over 6 months. Just thought you'd love to know, best of luck, M
  5. My experiences: 3bb will not carry VOIP in 3 locations where I have used them. Thus, no free or low cost overseas calls. TOT had frequent outages and was not very swift about restoring them. Terrible service at the call center. Uncaring. True Online- 4 years now and I have no complaints.
  6. Yes, and what's even more wonderful is that they will provide an app for it.
  7. As an American citizen and expat formerly of New York City, I am infuriated and ashamed by this report. A large part of my anger falls upon the "Defund the Police" crowd. Have a good look at our future. I don't understand all the commentary about race and ethnicity. If they catch the guy he should get 30 years to life. I don't give a flyin' **** about his race, religion, poor economic background, lousy living conditions, deprived childhood, temporary emotional state, abusive parents, lack of opportunity, ............... (the list is infinite).
  8. The Times They Are A Changin'. People's needs, tastes, and means have changed, not to mention the many who moved away to find other opportunities. The gold shop is closed; a 20 baht store has taken its place. Things will improve in the aggregate, but don't expect a return to The Way We Were. As always in business, survivors will be those who spot change and adapt.
  9. Big deal! I ordered them to bury the lines years ago. You think they listen?
  10. You caught 'em in a good mood. Hope your luck holds out.
  11. I was in NY once and stopped in to Bangkok Bank for a minor transaction (details forgotten). Turned out that there are NY exchange rates and Bangkok rates, the former being significantly less advantageous to the customer.
  12. 12 years in this country have taught me something: the law is whatever the person you're talking to says it is. "Laws" vary not only from office to office, but from person to person within an office, and also from time to time coming from the same person. Trying to discover the "law" is an exercise in futility. Published laws and regs are ambiguous in both English and , I am told, in Thai. Think I am exaggerating? Go around to a few Amphur offices and ask how to get a yellow book. Or a pink card.
  13. 12 years in LOS have shown me that the "law" is whatever the person you are speaking with says it is. Not only for immigration, but for any "official" business. Ask how to get a yellow book, or a pink residency card, or an automobile registration, or ..., and you will see what I mean. Most of the difficulties farangs have here comes from attempting to apply western standards and practices.
  14. I have experienced about a 5% loss rate with Thai Post over the past 30 years. First class, EMS, registered, domestic or international, parcels or letters seem to make no difference. I now use the private logistics carriers which have sprung up in the last 5 years.
