  1. It's the income from the crooked call centers that's at the center of all this. Too much money was being generated and the mafia wants that income back and the Cambodian politicians are eager for the return of that cash and will do anything to get it back. That's it in a nutshell—the complete corruption of the Cambodian government. Money.
  2. This is historically a poorly run airline. I always loved flying Thai. I'll go out of my way to do so but it's always more expensive. I wish them well but Thai Air will always be poorly run.
  3. THE most useless member of the family, and that's saying something. Never elected to anything. Never accomplished anything. Useless.
  4. Thailand should mop up Cambodia in a few hours. The idiots in Cambodia should be tossed into prison for escalating this.
  5. Thailand could roll over Cambodia in a few hours. I've always thought they should go into Mirmar. Nothing to stop them. If Thailand were aggressive, it could easily take over the area. They would of course, massively screw that up. That's pie in the sky. Thais. Sometimes I wonder how anything gets done here.
  6. What absolute nonsense. Hoi An is number 5? The list is meaningless. I'm bored in 24 hours in CM. I have no idea why people go there. And the ridiculous air pollution. CM #1, Hoi An number 5...tsk
  7. The immigration officer we know in Phuket was telling her that the marraige visa money needed to be seasoned for 90 days. Wait it's 60 days, he must be mistaken! Nope, I've just heard the requirements have been immediately changed to 90 days for marraige and 4 months for your 800,000. Imagine the confusion this is going to create? I can only hope it's not what appears to be.
  8. A shoebox...luxury! There was 34 of us living in an old fish carcass.
  9. A hole in the road...luxury! We were evicted from *our* hole in the ground; we had to go and live in a lake!
  10. Thanks for these recommendations. I had some injections a couple of weeks ago and the pain became much better, not a factor now. I know what this operation entails and at 75 I'm reluctant to go through with it. I still will never use this insurance company and urge others not to as well.
  11. I posted recently about being turned down for an operation for a rotator cuff injury following a bicycle accident. No one should ever buy a policy from my former provider, Regency Assurance. Is there a health insurance company that caters to a 75-year-old individual? Or should I opt for self-insurance? Thanks.
  12. Yeah because we asked our Immigration officer from last year and he said 90 days! I'm used to them changing this nonsense on a regular basis.
  13. I just deposited 400k in the bank getting ready for renewal of my marraige visa in 60 days. I've looked everywhere online and all I see is 60 days prior to renewal. My wife just called Phuket Immigration and asked specifically the guy who we went through the process with last time and he said it was 90 days prior! This is going to be a disaster. Is there anything I can do at this point?
  14. Covid vaccinations don't cause heart attacks. The antivaxxers should get what they deseserve. Oh that's right they did. Death rates doubling the people vaccinated. I feel sorry for these people...kinda. You have Fox news on the tv right now, don't you?
  15. How do you respond to someone this twisted? No covid cases, no vaccine, no deaths, it's all flu...what a moron.
  16. Covid killed 7 million people. Let's thank the esteemed virologist for his valuable contribution to the discussion. You're right I swallowed the facts about covid. It especially hit hard to the areas where people did not wear masks or get immunized. Dr. Vernon Colman is completely full of <deleted>. He has commonly made claims that are just wrong. These incorrect claims include that up to 14 million people will die because of lockdown, wearing masks will “make children stupid” and that Covid-19 is no more dangerous than flu. And you're quoting this hack...tsk.
  17. I've found it difficult to find a covid vaccine update shot living in Rawai. None of the public hospitals are getting any. Bangkok Hospital is the only place to get one? With the ridiculous price? I find it unbelievable how many here run their stupid, misinformed mouths at getting the vaccine, wearing masks, dismissing all this. Maybe it won't kill you, but these are all minor inconveniences for the payoff of not getting severely sick. This is a no-brainer. All this covid around will catch up to you. It can make you very sick and can kill you. Good luck and by that I mean...
  18. Some have asked about the insurance company. It was originally called Regency for Expats and is now going by Regency Global. It required getting treated at Public Hospitals. The surgeon I was going to use has operating rights at all Phuket Hospitals and is considered the best choice by everyone we asked. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I could fly to Udon Thani (wifes home) and have the surgery for 300k at a private hospital. I am 75. Have very little use of my left arm. Can't lift it up in the air, only to 45 degrees. The pain is tough but it's getting better or I'm getting used to it. I'm still bicycling 25 km a day weather permitting. Thanks for all the India recommendations. I don't know. $5000 sounds better than $10000 but...you know, India. Unlike my left arm, it's up in the air. I've got the decision under appeal from the insurance company but not confident in the decision. Pass on Regency Global Insurance.
  19. No, I have the MRI, this is straightforward now. I'm looking for a great place to save some money. I assume I'll have to pay for it.
  20. I hadn't thought of that. Have it done and resubmit it. Thanks
  21. Unsecured construction fabric blew out in front of me, tossing me to the ground. Wind. It wasn't the shoulder I landed on. Tore ligaments on the other shoulder.
