  1. I've taken my Thai nephew out of a Thai state school in Bangkok at the start of this year & am now sending him to a private school in Pattaya.

He just turned 8 & is very slow in that his numeracy & reading are quiet poor.

His Thai teacher just wants to give him the same extra lessons that are failing him & extra homework.

I'm starting to think that he may have other issues although he is very well behaved & socializes well.

He's behind his Thai 4 year sister as far as I can see & my 5 year bi-lingual daughter leaves him for dust.

My missus & his mother are both suggesting a boarding school to get him to concentrate & bring him up to speed but I'm not so sure this will be healthy for him.

Any suggestions or advice from the forum would be gratefully received.

  2. Very true JT but I'm finding that those news sites just report & acknowledge the like of reuters & other news agencies, I've not seen anything poigniant written locally.

Pound sterling has dropped through the floor across the whole planet recently but actually gained in value against the baht today although not by much.

I know the line is to but on rumour & sell on fact so that much to go on really

  3. I like to watch a combination of news outlets for an overview of world events.

BBC has seriously dropped IMO but I still watch it.

Al Jazera, RT, Fox, CNN to name a few.

Online I read from the left & right.

One thing struck me today though is that a local story ran internationally but no sign of it locally.

I do also enjoy some of the spoof news sites such as waterford whispers & the daily mash.

    Any thoughts?

    LOL.

The next generation think talking to imaginary friends on a machine, or killing people on a machine is fun. They don't think sitting in a bar playing connect 4 with a stranger is fun.

Anyway, women and PC are taking over the western world. Everything that real men think is fun will be banned.

Luckily, hope for men lies in sex androids, which are not too far off. Once we get our hands on those little beauties, western women can forget about having their subservient men slaves to do their bidding. Long live the sex machines, yay.

For the humour deficient that are reading this- it's satire!

That I have to explain it shows what a sanuk devoid world we live in.

You may be jesting but the reality is not far away.

There is a lot of money being pumped into VR 'personnel experience' presently.

Porn had a lot to do with the growth of the internet & this will be the natural progression of this.

  5. Go there any morning watch the procession of buses bounce down that road spewing fumes into the few remaining bars that still try to serve breakfast in that soi.

I met a pal down there for breakfast recently before we headed to to the Department of Transport & I'd parked up nicely just on the left hand side of that picture above & tried my best to enjoy my breakfast at Lewinskys as tour buses paraded down the soi.

One particularly  inept driver felt that he couldn't pass my car (there was at least a 50cm gap) even though all the others had & before I could gulp down another sup of tea one of the touts that work the beach road was up shouting at me to move.

I explained that there was plenty of room & that many buses had already passed.

He then shouted for the police who arrived within seconds.

I was told in no uncertain terms that I was not allowed to park there & to move.

I left my breakfast, thanked him & said that I would report the incident to City Hall.

He did actually stop in his tracks but I knew that the best thing to do was to get going.

By the time that I'd swung up the next soi & onto 2nd rd there was already a queue of buses waiting to enter 13/3.

Again certain 'protected' business blossoming at the expense of  small businesses in the local sois.

That soi often suffers later in the evenings as well as empty baht buses who don't want to do the circle use it to short cut back to Walking St pick up point.

Gridlocked traffic on Beach Rd often means that these buses then sit there engines idling away spewing fumes into the few remaining bars left trading down there.

You would never know that those little sois around used to absolutely alive with great bars & the evenings would sing out with sound of customers ringing bells & cheers from the girls.

  6. If you have access to a frying pan then DIY it as steak is easy to cook.

Down to friendship & get a proper imported steak, then off to tesco & snag a bottle of thier 'finest' range Malbecs.

Make sure that the steak is up to room temp before you fry, pat any condensation off the steak, season & into a fairly hot pan with some oil & butter.

Lower the heat slightly & don't move the steak at all.

After a few mins do the same to the otherside including patting it dry (you don't want to steam it).

Make sure that you have a hot plate ready & you should be on your first glass of wine.

When the steak is just a less cooked than you like it then transfer to that hot plate & splash some wine into the pan to deglase it pouring thus sauce over your steak.

Do not attempt to eat the steak for at least 5 mins.

Have some crusty bread ready for mopping up duties after you've demolished that steak & kick yourself for not buying another bottle of red.

  7. If he pulls this off successfully then it will be the biggest move in world sport.

An NFL franchise & big name PL team playing double headers on the same day in the same stadium.

The revenue streams would be absolutely enormous
