Brilliant! Thank you Isan Farang. So, the White Temple is on highway 1?

edit...Ah! OK. I was getting lazy. I have just looked at Maps and see that it is on the 1208.

Yes correct, as previously mentioned you can also turn left at the sign for Chiang Mai 118 that is before the White Temple and keep right and head for the the 1211

Thank you. I have been to the White Temple before but a long time ago. Do I turn left off highway 1 to the White Temple and past it, or turn left before that?

Turn left just as you pass the white temple, keep going till you reach a T junction and then turn right and keep straight.

    From Highway 1

    Turn Left #1208

    Turn Right #1211

    Thank you, ripstanley.

There has been a lot of roadwork's going on around that area, no issues except for slow movement.

You are still driving on black top but being reduced to two lanes.

You can turn left at the white temple and then turn right. You will pass under the 131 flyover by pass road and then head through Den Ha and then its almost straight all the way to the clock tower.

I'm flying tomorrow to Don Mueang from Chiang Rai.

Only vaccine certificate needed. No PCR test required.

4 days ago i went from CR to BKK using Viet Jet, no one asked me for any vaccine certificate, on my next flight to Ubon Thai Smile required the cert.

Using prophylactic treatment like Chaindrite or borax is not effective. Brushing or spraying simply don't give you sufficient penetration into the wood. At most you get 2 mm penetration and that is from dipping for long duration. Termites will eat the wood core and you only notice when the wood crumble and expose the damage. You really need hard wood or pressure treated door frame. Eliminating the source and the nest with soil treatment is a good advise.

Are you stating termites are unable to penetrate hard wood ?

I put two 10” lines thru the same hole bending one short end left and one right to grip.

Same on the other side of the disc 180 degrees across …2 lines thru same hole!

If you happen to install the disc upside down it won’t turn plus you don’t need to tighten it down too much …just snug.

    These things really work well!!

On the pictures they are using all 4 lines supplied along with the head, will this work if i follow same as the picture, i have never used this fixed head before so not so clear

Last C-Pac I bought for a similar job was a little while ago, paid around 1800 baht for 3 cube (1 full load).

    Yours at 317, by 4inch thick = 9m2, per cube, x 3 cube per lorry, 27 m2

    317 /27 = 12 loads aprrox.

Ring your local C-Pac and ask them what 12 loads will cost and go from there.

    1800 baht for 3 cube ?

I recently had C Pac supply me cement in Chiang Rai and the cost was 1.969 for 1 c/m of spec 280

  9. On a large piece of land dragging a cooking gas cylinder around is a pain unless you have perhaps 100m hose.

Anyone know if there is perhaps screw on throw away canisters available.

I am at present using chemical spray and the results vary on different weeds, would be interested in the torch deal if throw away cans was available. I told the shop the present chemical spray is very weak and was informed they are no longer allowed to sell the previous one that worked very good.

  10. At present BMW have no main dealer in Chiang Rai, i was told they have a main dealer in Chiang Mai. Any members here using the CM outlet ?

Looking for some info on there service center and if they have english speaking mechanic.

You could of avoided a trip to Ubon by doing your report online or by mail. They accept both. You could still do it online today and I am sure they would even process it by mail if you sent it today by EMS.

Transiting through Bangkok would not be considered as traveling from there.

Tried online and not possible. I will now go to CR airport clinic and get the info if coming from Ubon in tranist through Bkk is ok or not. The other option i have is to drive back but if there is any road checks and they observe the Ubon plate perhaps also an issue

  12. My 90 day report is due on 29 May at the Ubon Imm office, at present i am in Chiang Rai and intended booking a flight to Ubon next week to do the report and then return to Chiang Rai. After checking today CR has requested strict measures for people arriving from Bangkok and some other areas.

Just checking if i was only in transit in Bangkok from Ubon i can state i travelled from Ubon which is not on the red list.

  13. Just checking if anyone can recomend a good ceramic tile fitter. I do not need a half arsed job and need someone who can work to high spec, for a good guy i am willing to pay for that service.

if these are indeed the OP is talking about ....they are called  "lawn koo"  in thai,  and come in different shapes as mentioned.    I used them on a few houses but used  "CHANG brand " and bought the THICK  ones ( i believe they are 6mm ).    They are thicker and heavier than the thin ones, which can crack more easily.

Mine are 15 years old now and i have just had men WALK on them to seal around the hooks that they used when installing ( puncture  a hole thru tile and install hook).    That was the OLD way to do it.   Now be sure to use a CLIP to install instead of making a hole in the tiles.    Often the tile at edge of roof they will still use a hole/hook  for strength.

Once again,  i recommend the thick ones if using for a house.    Though i have to admit that now i would go with metal sheet .....

The ones in the picture are Chang Brand (SCG) the thickest they go is 5.5mm

Do you have some link to the fixing clips you mentioned to avoid drilling

Please provide a link to the warranty of your roofing tiles.

Oh that type! Yes I too have seen those become brittle, crack, and lose their color badly. I wasn't thinking of this type when cement board was first mentioned. There are many shapes and sizes of cement board roofing tiles. SCG is usually the better choice for quality.

You seem confused between sheets and tiles ?

Can you post some pictures of the cement sheet you had that was cracked ?

  16. 1 hour ago, fredob43 said:

There not cut close to the facia. They have a 6 inch overlap. If you have seen first hand the roofing I have you would know that it has a 1.1/2 inch heat lagging under it that starts at the facia board to stop any back flow and allow water to run off correctly. It's designed that way by the manufactures. Are you saying that they don't know what they are doing???

Oh and by the way I did say I had never had a problem with the Cement roofing leaking due to the way it was installed, just that they cracked up and leaked due to the Sun/Heat here, that's when it went T/ts up.

So much so it cost me well over 100k bht to have 2 new internal ceilings and a new roof fitted. That was in less than 4 years. That's why I try and put people off from using it. Of cause if you think it's fine go ahead use it. What do I know. Except my Thai builder wont use cement boarding on roofs.

Are these the sheets you had the issue with, i will not use them on my house but have fitted them on a tank shed and one other small sitting area. I was planning to fit them to my garage roof around that is 154 s/m

    These cement sheets are from SCG 120 x 50 x 5.5

There have been reports that IO fairly recently made some changes to their 90-days website, so that you do not have to re-enter on a new passport to file a 90-day report on-line.

Just using your new passport and the 'old' TM-6 entry/departure card, could work.

Obviously you need to do the 90-day on-line report within 15-days till due date window.

Ok thanks for that info my 90 day report is due on 28th November, would this mean I can go and try online on the 13th November ?

Why going through the trouble of administratively relocating, when there is no need for doing so as you can do the 90-day reports on-line (and confirming that from an administrative IO point of view your Ubon official address, has not changed).

    > See also post #9 for someone in similar situation as yourself.

Not possible to do online report as had my stamps moved to a new passport, need to leave and return to activate for online, now waiting for border to open at Mae Sai and yes I have a re-entry
