  1. The point the person was making was that corruption is corruption, no matter the level. If you use an agent, of course you are going say that bypassing immigration requirements by paying $600 to a bent policeman is acceptable. In my opinion, this is just as bad as driving while drunk. Actually it a worse crime as it is premeditated.
  2. I'd say the monkey is off his back, but the circus still comes to town every few months.
  3. Yes, that's why I asked, many here seem content that a billionaire should pay more compensation(millions of baht here) and get unfair treatment due to their wealth.
  4. If not paying money up front, there must be Cronyism or Nepotism at play.
  5. Because his family are one of the most influential in the land. Some people can't grasp, or accept this.
  6. Of course it is a drug, a psychotropic one. Smoking weed led me to get involved with drug dealer, which in turn tempted me to take harder drugs, purely as they were illegal. Smoking weed more recently causes paranoia in me and makes me take alcohol, which has tremendously devastating consequences.
  7. Possibly as outside Thailand nobody cares about him. Actually, inside Thailand not many care.
  8. Do you think a billionaire should be treated the same as a farmer? I know of two cases - one in Mahasarakham and one in Khon Kaen. Drunk farmers killed motorcyclists and both were ordered to give 50k baht compensation to avoid jail. Ever hear of Isarn farmer hounded by the foreign press?
  9. Of course they are, police pay for their positions. I'm surprised how many foreigners don't know that immigration police pay 1-5 million baht to secure their positions. Obviously a lot more for the top ones.
  10. You do know that he would have had to pay a lot of money to secure his position in the first place?
  11. Absolutely. I wonder how many of the 'anti-corruption' brigade use visa agents to bypass immigration requirements. Yet, they deny they are illegal immigrants, and go on about not wanting to leave money in the bank getting no interest, and have the nerve to criticize the country they are guests. How many of them moan about illegal immigrants in their countries? I wonder how many have given money to a road cop. I have one friend who is the ultimate Thai basher and pays immigration police directly, to save him a trip to Bangkok to get a letter for his visa extension. Total hypocrisy - "corruption is the root of all evil, except when it benefits me".
  12. Bong is the only Thai loan word in the English language. They should concentrate more on stopping the sex trade in Pattaya: their parents were probably servicing old Helmut or Lars.
  13. This case is only really important to foreigners who don't understand or want to accept Thailand as it is, or as the guy was driving a super car. The victim's family have been compensated a LOT more than had the killer been a rice farmer in a 30 year old pick up truck. If the latter, which happens all the time, the usual compensation is 50,000 baht. I think to many people criticise, without being honest about what they'd do if they were in a similar situation. If any of my kids were afflicted with alcohol or drug addiction and committed a crime, if so all in my power to save them going to jail. Maybe some are jealous that they don't have billions like this family. This will be forgotten, just as previous cases have been - anyone heard about Duangchalerm Yubamrung recently? He was the son of the deputy PM who <deleted> a policeman dead in a thong lor nightclub with 22 witnesses. He fled abroad and then ran for parliament and now is a police sharpshooter. Maybe Thais have more faith in universal justice, or Karma than farang and their reap what you sow.
  14. Trust any of who - police, rich people, Thais?
  15. Your avatar is a Scotsman, who used to live across the road from me in Aberdeen.
  16. Firstly, I thought you have me on ignore, as you keep telling us. How can you see my posts? Your reply was about Polkadot, which is NOTHING like FTX. How much was BTC when you first heard about it? ( I guess this is one of the posts you will refuse to see lol) In fact, this is the question you have avoided for months!
  17. Polkadot is NOTHING like FTX. Your crusade to belittle crypto it tiresome. I have no interest in traditional stocks like you are and certainly wouldn't hijack your thread quoting Bernie Maddof, insinuating all stocks are ponzis.
  18. Is that the one who lost $27?
  19. It's to do with security of the blockchain. Read the following: - https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-staking
  20. They wouldn't. I have also kept mine in a safety deposit box in the bank, that I bought to store gold. I guess you know you also get good interest rates on Ledger. 14% for Polkadot! However, I prefer Kraken for 12% as it is less hassle and is a US bank.
  21. That's not my experience and I'm sure I know more than you who own crypto. I wasn't referring to all members. Some, however, are worth blocking as they know nothing about crypto, yet high jack threads pretending they do.
  22. Just block them, they really are ignorant.
