  1. I've never been to the States but what seems really incredible to me is the price of cars over there. According to Chevrolet's website, a Camaro sports car retails for $24,000 - what's the catch? Is there huge sales tax or expensive servicing? That buys you a Honda City in Thailand lol.

No one in the US with any sense buys American cars... There is a reason that the Toyota Camry has been the best selling car in the US for more than a decade...

The Ford F150 pickup is by far the #1 selling vehicle in the US. The Chevy Silverado pickup is #2. The Toyota pickup isn't even on the radar.

The Camry is the best selling car, but is outsold by the F150 by almost double. LINK

Americans love their pickups and the F150 full 4 door 4x4 is my main squeeze. I don't own a car.

The Camry sells well because it is built in America in an automated factory by non-union workers and it is cheap. People with more options buy a mid to full sized American SUV or a Beemer or a Benz.

    .

Bought nothing but F-150's since 1984. Never a problem.

Having managed for both Ford - then later Toyota & Lexus I'd say you were a very lucky man.....

  2. I have friends that live there and love it....have visited one or two times a year for a few years....could not imagine being there a month - after 3 days it's enough......postage stamp sized place......if women are something you are use to seeing around and enjoy being around it's a very small place with not much to pick from..... you will have eaten in every cafe within 1- 2 weeks......decent 2nd hand book store...backpacker/reggae dreads/60's drop out/spiritual seeking crowd like...have seen drug sales right out in plain view and that's a magnet for fringe people.....Every time I go there I marvel at the amount of motorbike accident injured I see there....very dark and curvy (roads) narrow at night.....

Hire a van or something to take you and your stuff up - I enjoy the road and the family is not curve friendly...very slippery dark road in the rain especially for a first timer...the roads are slanted to drain not to drive so a lot of the curves are against momentum and tire traction.....

Personally there's NO way I'd trade Cha-Am for Pai.....

  3. Don't look now - don't want to make you paranoid or downplay your revelation............happens everywhere in the world - blatant and in your face - scheming - sly - unseen and underhanded - hidden taxes - conversations - happenstance - pre-planned - tithes - your spot in traffic - your job position - your place in the checkout line..........they're - it's - it's everywhere - are you scared??????

  4. We don't eat out all the time....if out and about some of the TL/C food courts have dishes that we like - usually 2 - 100B cards and change received....favorite places to eat about 500B but the wife orders 4-5 (pork steak, spaghetti, oysters, garlic bread & garlic mashed potatoes last time out) dishes which we peck away at.....if I have a pizza craving 800-1500B but that's bringing a lot home......I am in CM and have wanted to explore the buffets for a long time but simply do not know where is good......there are places we go because of certain dishes that we like and places we go because of large menus/specialty dishes (fish for her).....we eat out about 5-7 times a week - less than some/more than others but she really likes to cook and is proud of it & never turns out a bad dish.....seems quite pleased to research different foods/dishes on line.....

When we do go to TL/C/Makro it's usually 1400-2000B & we buy our meat away from those 3 places Rimping ....
