  1. As anyone knows that goes to the fights here, if the Thai is still on his feet, he wins.

They do not even seem embarassed about it. I have seen Thais get a beating and still win.

One thing though, the Thais are usually matched against someone 10-20 kilo heavier to make the fight even. Or the Thai will be 40 years old against a much younger falung.

  2. Interesting what will happen at the "tinted window Box, at Sigma on Jomtien. They are there most days collecting from tourists, Thais seem to go past with no helmets, Falungs get stopped even if they have one. Into the office and all sorted.

As some will know there is a laughable Russian tour office on the footpath, a bar that runs late with young clients, and a restaurant, all on the footpath next to the "Box", I assuming they are the landlord. They have not stopped me, I live right there, if they do I surely will take photos of their business empire.

Trouble with this new approach is that if you are actually guilty, paying them is easier than going to the station, that is why we pay.

  3. Why show how it is done?

What is the point of the photo of this guy?

    Sad incident.

Actually a good idea to show the bag and how people are carrying them, my 5 year old has one of these sleepers and they all put them around their neck.

All the schools should make a picture and ban this method, warning all the children. There is likely other freak ways they could hang themselves with the straps.

  4. Agree all around, as I said thet might be military, but by far more honest than the politicians.

While on the reclaiming subject. For a laugh, Jomtien Beach in front of Sigma Resort there is a little bar, with Heineken draft setup, that has built supports off the road over the beach to hold the bar. Can not imagine there is a lease. The whole bar is on the footpath and most customers are very young Thais.

Also a shed for Russian tours taking up the entire footpath opposite the bars. Russians sitting in there.

My guess the police box next to all of this is the landlord. They also have a thriving business stopping all the tourists, even if they have a helmet etc, they are invited into the tinited window office to discuss options.

I guess this is down the list compared to a 1000 acres.

  5. Only on Sunday took three taxis to get one to take from Sathorn to Sunkumvit. One had the door locked and while i tried to get in he drove off and near took my hand off.

I normally try to get in, one just played dumb to my girl as if he did not know where Gaysorn was.

Hope they sort this. Unbelievable they way they are sorting problems that have been around for a decade. They are doing it in days.

I for one do not care what the USA thinks, they should sort their own problems first.

The army would win an election now anyway, not based on bribes, just on performance.

  6. There is more to the story. If at all it was a teacher, there was more than a bad test result.

My kid goes to Aksorn on Teprasit and all the teachers seem very polite, and most classes seem to have two teachers, so would need to have two bad ones together.

I would go straight to the school for the answer. If they did do it, I would then go to the police.

Then maybe as you head off you will get a correction to the story.

  7. Nobody can know, but my guess from seeing him cut corners over the maked island earlier in the vid, would be to say the same, he was keeping up with the truck in front, and they were going fast. The car earlier pulled over to let him go.

No doubt it happened fast but a cple of seconds more time could have got him to at least change his angle from head on to a glance.

  8. Large numbers work illegally. They pay 1000 bt a head to the bag man for protection. Maybe because the bag man is scared to collect they feel in danger.

This will stop plenty of businesses or make them get legal.

I have Thai friends that have pub restaurants in BKK, they can not get Thai workers ( or maybe it is the salary they want ) most of the service staff are Cambodian or Vietnamese.

  9. Have to say there are multiple examples of bad behaviour by Thai and westerners that are a whole lot more serious than no shirt.

In general around the world, I think it is petty to spend time on this, while people are dying in BKK from "bad behaviour" by all colors of Thais.

These young guys maybe wear a suit everyday when back home, lucky to have customers, with or without shirts. All said I agree shirts should be worn at times, like at a restaurant at nite, no singlets etc, rude in any language.

  10. My boy is nearly five and some similarities.

He is on the TV and tablet with his superhero's and games more than I like but they all are around the world. I take him to swim, teaching him to swim etc. My girl would never take him for a swim ( she can not swim ) mainly due to dislike for sun. I take him out as much as possible. He is superactive and fit, he plays with all the local kids non-stop. She sits talking with the locals in the estate for hours while he plays.

She also spends time on his schooling, I have set up a board with times tables on it so he will not need a calculator to add up 4 and 4.

Like you he eats Asian style, when hungry. He stays out with her till 10 pm or more ( school holidays ). I am sure at five I would have been in bed at 8 pm, but that was a long time ago.

He is only two, just as he gets more active get involved taeching him sports, set up basketball nets etc. He will sleep because he will be tired.

My kid also plays with mainly older kids which I think is good for his character and language skills.

  11. As his niece said he was tired from hard work. She and family will jump at an offer to not rock the boat. It is a big thing here for the family not to push the issue.

Everyone will get some money and it will buried, maybe a fine and suspended sentence. As noted they have already forgotten to add drunk driving.

If the money goes to educate some family members not so bad.

  12. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

30yrs.experiance of thai ways and other,my advice stay where you are,you wont live on what you can earn here, and as for starting a business forget it,there's plenty to read in the different forums.

as for the gf.wanting to get married[farang great catch] and a house,no mention of what her family want, then there.s a car, bike, and be wary of her brother,if she's serious do whats been suggested tell her you will marry her if she goes to live with you at your place of work.if your earning good money in korea stay there or you can come here and might I repeat might end up broke.i expect there will be plenty of advice for you but if you are serious about your gf.try and find out all you can about her.eg.has she been married, does she have any kids, who is she living with and one aspect that has sprung up the past few yrs.is has she got a computer or has access to one.

    good luck.

All of the above ! Rare for a Thai women to get to 35 with no kids, husbands etc. It is tough in Thailand now, used to be easier, most bars are losing money, and as said, except for say Dive instructor etc, few jobs. What jobs there are, are low paid as there are so many guys fighting for the chance to stay here.

  13. Have to support the "chances are poor group"

Suggest to potential lenders to do as I used to do with a particular friend in OZ a long time ago, "no sorry can not lend $100, but you can have ten. Same guy would buy me rums all nite if he had money come in, it was all about timing, same with the Thais.

  14. I Do not blame them, she has possibly caused them a lot of problems with her remarks.

I can not understand how anyone could not find a better target in Thailand, starting with Taksin and crew, then thousands more in power that are selfish to the core. The fact she has not contacted her parents for so long also shows her character.

She could start closer to home with some of the MP's and there expense claims.

  15. 16 is not that young here. They are riding, (without helmets) from 10 years what i have seen.

They were never going to stop. Had been drinking seriously it seems. Likely she turned in front of him, not sure what same direction means, before or after the u-turn.

If it was my kid I would hunt them down.

Maybe money has already been paid, they are all gone. Surely the police can get their names from somewhere, I'm sure I could. They had hotels, plane tickets etc.

Even the ones left here are obstructing justice.

  16. Easy to sell the car, it is done at the finance/bank office. You get what is left after they are paid. The new owner gets the book a few days later, no problem.

Not sure re other bank loans ? Never seen a bank lend money to a falung unless you have 5 times what you want to borrow in their bank. I have seen wealthy guys here get knocked back, and they were only doing it to try and develop a relationship etc.

Bad if your wife put up family property for the loans.

Hopfully you get enough from the car for a ticket.

  17. I feel really sorry for him.

If his wife left him for whatever reason (money or else), then she is not worth dying for.

15 years ago I was between 2 jobs for a year. It just took my Thai wife 6 months to leave me.

Also, why does the local press publish the poor man's suicide note?? This is personal.

Exactly how I have always looked at breakups, I have had plenty. If they think they can do better, let them get out there and try. Their loss is how I look at it.
