1. I imagine that if the suspect is doing a re-enactment he has already confessed ??? Strictly a publicity stunt re showing they caught someone. This would likely not happen with a high profile criminal ( rich )

The police are good at getting the confesssions.

I only see the victims and family as the ones being hurt by it.

If this getting witnesses to come forward is part of the plan, I have long wondered why they let the alleged criminals cover up at the police station, this would help witnesses come forward, for the current crime, or others that they may have committed

  2. I would guess that she has no choice re the rice scheme, she knows as well as everyone in Thailand how stupid and corrupt the system is.

Taksin is not getting any younger, most people would have thought he would be back already. She should join the Democrats, that would be fun.

If she made a clear break from Taksin she could gain in popularity???

The only other option is to let Taksin's decision maker, the fortune teller dude to take over.

  3. Just a thought, did he check out the next morning and headed to the airport, or did he check out and hid until he got a flight???

Whichever does not mean guilty, anyone, even first timers would know not to expect a fair trial, it would be about money. Also he is likely married back home

Look what happened to the world bank guy, guilty or not, the maid in that case made some good cash from it.

The paralyzed maid was still in the bed??

The hotel would have the truth, not to mention his two drinking friends ( golf partners to his wife )

  4. A great bunch of comments, dreamed of Ankor Wat, but Thailand was boring?

I have a friends of all ages and nationalities here. Thailand has it all, unlike Ankor Wat and Cambodia. We have sports, restaurants, climate, cost of living benefits, and that is before mentioning that a young guy, that was not getting much action at home, becomes a chic magnet here, and as an aging guy that used to get top shelf in his younger days, now he has to go for the triple divorced mother of 4 ( who wants another house to add to her portfolio ), and also we have the aging guy that has never had quality pussy in his life, but now has loads of cash, he can now be the handsome man. Thailand is as good as anywhere, and better than most.

There may be a few guys here for the Islands etc etc, but I have not met them yet.

  5. I had 2 Bullmastiffs here, both have died, the big dogs do not last long. A german used to walk past my house and let his dog hang at my gate just to annoy my dogs. They would play with any dogs around here, they do not need to show there ability.

When I walked past his house, his dog would go nuts, but never jump over the small fence. My dogs would ignore him and just keep walking.

I would guess that he liked his dog getting a bit tested and kept walking in that direction.

As suggested why would he get a knife. The dog would not even see it, as planned I guess.

But I must say, I am selling my house due to the dogs loose on the street. I can not even go on a bicycle without harrassed.

  6. The two rooms in the house to be careful in, laundry and kitchen. Lots of earthed pipes and water to get caught on. You can not have much of a problem touching a live object, it will just make you jump. It is when you can not get away, as when standing in water, that you have a big problem. Or holding on to a live object, you can not let go of. Unplug appliances in laundry. Normally in Australia you can turn things off, here you are likely disconnecting via the neutral, so the power is still in the appliance waiting for a chance to be earthed, possibly via you or your kid!!

In this case pity they had no idea about first aid. No chance waiting for 30 minutes for help.

I have downloaded videos etc to show my mrs. She could then save me or our 3 year old in case of emergency.

  7. We just had a bike stolen and amazingly police at Prachinburi found it. Went to pick it up and they had their hand out for a 1000 bt. We are not talking we offered them, they were not shy in asking to be paid"because they work hard".

There is very little the police do umless there is a buck in it. They promote this with the sharing of fines etc. If they need a little extra they just pull up more people, guilty or not. I see on them near my house pulling bikes over, 80% falungs.

  8. I would appreciate some views on how do I go about importing seconds that are products such as clothing with Disney characters etc. I have been offered samples and seconds that were produced for a licensed seller of Disney characters and other licensed characters. Large numbers, a container load, as they have built up over the last 18 months of production for Europe and Asia. Many were part of the sampling procedures that were produced prior to the actual production.

I imagine I need documents from the factory or the buyer that they were meant for. My fear is of course that when they arrive here in Thailand I have a problem.

Thanks in advance for any information re this topic

  9. HI

Not sure if i can help but we have just set up an office in The Avenue, Pattaya City. I have worked in Textiles for decades supplying Australia and Europe. Mainly casual fashion such aas Jeans Tees etc for babies and kids to adults. We do millions of pcs per year for clients such as FOX Israel.

We are still in PAkistan for Jeans but want out. We were big in China for knitted but now BAngladesh is the best. In the last couple of years a lot of top labels have moved there. They have and still are investing heavily in technologies and machinery etc. My partner is Bangladeshi and is well known and respected there, that is why we have achieved so much there. India, china, Bangladesh, all the same if you do not know them well.

I am Australian and have set up the office here to market to Australian companies that are interested in moving their production to Bangladesh. Any of the cheap production countries can be difficult to get what you want but if you know the factories as we do and you keep a high level of QC in place it is fine. Fox in particular has a rigorous sampling procedure before we actually start production so production problems are kept to a minimum.

As I said, not sure what you are after, but email me at [email protected] if you want to discuss anything.

  10. Rarely do I enter into the petty arguments here, but had to comment on Southernman. And what do you know someone beat me to it. My expensive overinsured

cars and my big police friends, give me a break!!

If you are a falung and you injure a Thai in an accident, does not matter if he is drunk and comes out of a side street into your car, you better have bail insurance as an option on your vehicle policy. I know people that have had huge expensive dramas in these cases.

  11. as others have said, not a big difference. You hand the documents over to the staff and that is it. As already advised make an effort with docs. I did a folder with different segments, references from Thai police friend, lawyer at home that new here, my mother etc etc, photos of house in Thai, photos of Thai budha marriage 2 years earlier. Details of trip, Sydney-Perth-BKK, visit family friends etc.

She got 12 months multiple, I did not even ask for.

  12. Standard procedure when leaving on a trip. Seat belt etc, then remove cash from wallet and leave only 200 bt for possible payment. Flash the empty wallet, need ATM!

Bribe? Since this was brought to light now the BIB decides to get one big bribe at once 50 million baht now that is going to be one big legal bribe. This statement is laughable just like the one I read the other day from the head police guy regarding the rebate for new cars buyers. Statements against this project suggested the traffic would be worse in BKK, and the police said we can handle the traffic? I'm still laughing and its amazing they actually say it with a straight face.

  13. I just did my first bus trip to Nong Khai. I was surprised how slow he drove, both ways. Left from Petronas on Sukumvit, never seemed in a hurry, nice and steady.
I rode on the top going and below returning. Re safety for each spot I guess strictly depends where the other vehicle/tree hits the bus.

One rule I stick to, and they did offer the front seat going north, never take the first few rows for obvious reasons.

Tour buses have accidents all over the world, the number would depend on local drivers and roads. Certainly as a local driver for 12 years, the buses here are something you do not want behind you, and the mini buses are the worst, they get up your rear and push you out the way unless you are doing 140 kph.

Whatever the reason for the accident, very sad time for many.

14. Visited immigration and just been told cannot go to B non-immigrant from APEC, so he suggested I go out and come back in with no visa, do not show the APEC only get the 15 day auto stamp. Told me no problem to do the B from that, only company papers photo etc etc. He did not even bother to look at the pile of company docs I had with me, I wanted him to, but he was not concerned. I have no idea what the fee will be, but if it can be done here, that the way it should be for a legit application

    Thanks all.

Samadhi - you need an offer of employment in order to start the process of getting a non immigrant visa B (as Mizzi39 says above). Legally and morally, I see little difference in looking for work while you are in Thailand as opposed to looking for work while staying in your own or another country. Luckily, I didn't look for very long before the right opportunity came along. I applied, interviewed, and was successful.

My plan was to always stay here, but I wanted to change jobs (previous job gave a contract every semester and only paid for 9 1/2 months of the year). My previous extension to stay expired with the end of my last contract, hence the need to get another tourist visa and start the process all over again. If you stay in the same job it is a lot easier I believe. In some cases at least.
