  1. I have HUAWEI Model E180 USB and this run fine withWin 7 64bit and I also purchase a one brand unknown from Pantip Plaza formy girlfriend’s daughters laptop also running Win 7 64 bit (Thai) and thishad drivers that work fine on Win 7 64bit. Across Pantip and Fortune Plaza there aremany many 3G Stick for sale you should be able to purchase one easily withoutcontract issues that will work with win 7 64 bit.

  2. There are frommy observation only two resolution available now in Flat screen TV Full HD 1920X 1080 or HD or HD ready are 1366 x 768 These are maximum resolutions they alldo lower resolutions as well. They all do what you want with True. I sawa 32" HD Samsung (350series) in Lotus Tesco last weekend for 10990BHT.There also a HD 450series same brand for 12990BHT. I also like to LGs. Butreally any of them are good the locally made LG and Samsung’s tend to be bitcheaper. You pay about 15990BHT for a Full HD in 32”I have also seenlow end TCL's and others here too but generally picture not as good. It agod time to buy as the market fairly saturated now and manufactures arereducing their prices.

I another post acouple of weeks ago I suggested people should buy full HD TV’s so you might read what I saidthere as well but from what you said here I do not think those comment apply toyou.

  3. Any USB Headset/Mic should work with Windows 7. I have used Logitech,Plantronics and many other generic cheap headsets with Windows 7 on many differentlaptops and desktop PCs. Win 7 has or should have a generic driver for this, or as othersay a vista driver will work also. Not sure why you referring to Toshiba whomake the hardware have they done something with USB and their version of win 7 that no one else does Idoubt it. Have you just tried plugging one in Windows 7 has 10,000's drivers already installed that one of its key feature compared with windows OS’s beforeit.

  4. All Drives can fail. The physically large backup drives bases on3.5in disk now go up to 4TB but are much larger to cart around but great if youhave a lot of data like I do some times.

The small drives based on 2.5in disk are small and very portablethese are generally up to 500MB but you can get 1.5TB some have external powerto save USB power issues and you can also get some with an ESATA interfacewhich work with some laptop and PCs for much higher speed transfers. You could back up to 2 different small drives carry one in briefcasecarryon luggage and one in checked luggage, not 100% fail safe but chances ofboth drives failing at same time is remote unless the plane crashes that is!

  5. I download (for personal use notfor sale) many of my favourite the TV shows from, UK USA Australia. I view themlatter via free PC software call media portal (www.team-mediaportal.com) which I have used to build amedia centre. I watch TV when I want to not when they on at a certaintime. Many of these TV programs areavailable in both 720 and 1080 (Full HD) format.

In my option itis still well worth purchasing a Full HD 1080 TV. I was also downloadingand watching latter in Australia where we do have both free to air and pay TVHD channels and the difference is very noticeable. I would say in my experienceit increases the enjoyment of viewing these programs. But will say if yourbudget is tight the 1024 X 768 TVs this HD but not Full HD TVs do still give agood clear picture and Full HD download programs still look good on these 1024X 768 TVs If you going to watch Blue Ray Disk then you must go Full HD or youwasting your time with Blue Ray Disks.

I am notin total disagreement with the ianwrd4. I think the decision you need to make is do you buy a Full HD TV now orwait until you purchase your next TV in a couple of years, as the prices are goingdown very fast as the TV market saturates in many countries, or do I buy a FullHD now and not worry about 3D or whatever new technology is coming soon enjoyit for the next few year and buy the latest and greatest TV when you next makea purchase

  6. I don't recall seeing any here at Pantip or Fortune but I wouldexpect them to be around I not been looking. I purchased many in Australia as I build a fewMedia units for myself and others. This is the ones I was using it an Australian mail order provider. http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=205&products_id=11589.I don't think you can get the original Microsoft remotes any more they are bigand clunky anyway.

Good luck tell us how you get on and where you find one.

  7. Yes as long as you buy one with a 1920 x1080 resolution max, some willonly do 1024 x 768, generally the cheaper ones. Why not run 1920 x 1080 or are you connecting this to a laptop?

Pantip or Fortune will have many to choose from. Why not buy somethingbigger you would be amazed how a 22 -24 inch screen will be so much easier towork on, that is if you budget can stretch that far. Most PCs you buy these dayscome with min size of 19' if not a lot bigger.

  8. I have found asiarooms.com is often cheaper than Agoda.com and to my surprise cheaper than the The Accor Club for Accor Group Hotels might only be a few 10's Baht in it but when you promise the lowest rate it has to be the lowest not just a statement. You always need to shop around online not just assume a site is always cheaper. I have also negotiated directly with the hotel and undercut the online rate by 100 Baht a night but only after staying a few days and wanting to extend.

  9. Also worth Checking that the CPU heat sink/Fan is correctly seatedon the CPU this will show up if when you monitor the CPU temperature there okat start up but rise very rapidly to the point which it shuts down to protectitself. Agree it could also be power supply. The original diagnosis ofmotherboard may have been incorrect.

  10. If you want to see a copy of your windows desk top it should be set to duplicate. It sounds like it is on extended at the moment. If you move your mouse toeither the left or right of the visible screen on your current machine youshould see appear it on the TV screen. I think if you set it to duplicate yoube fine you can then get the screen resolution correct as the TV may onlyhandle a lower resolution than you other machine. Although with a laptop itwill most likely be close to correct.

  11. Interesting to know about Citadines. Have stayed in many hotels in BKK over 15 years, including the luxury riverside 5 star business squats - Oriental, Peninsular et al. Excellent hotels and mostly very good value - and on down to the standard budget Nana area dorms. Internet is generally unremittingly crap in this city. How the hell this city got away with being a major conference venue beats me.

That bottom of the pile 3rd world country Cambodia has hotels that beat Bangkok into a cocked hat when it comes to internet speeds.

Only Pattaya manages to underperform Bangkok in the internet stakes. They must sell special cheap charlie hotelier internet packages there - guaranteed to fail on guests 2 days out of every three.

All Seasons Sathorn has good internet speed cost about was 1500 -1600BHT per night easy walk to Silom rd and BTS or to Lumpini MRT

Note: if you need it for VOIP all ports blocked except fot Skype!!!

  12. Just re readyour originals post re Ethernet over mains. They won't work if the power pointsare on different power circuits you can fix this by getting and electrician tochange the circuits around so the two circuits in question are actually connectedtogether as long as you're not overloading the circuit at the circuit breaker agood electrician can sort this for you.

  13. The ethernet cabling itself is quite simple. Use Cat. 5e, which is readily available in 300 m boxes; the maximum length of the run should not exceed 100 m. Should be installed same as telephone wire. Attach the RJ-45 plugs at each end, test connection and that's it. The problem is a nice cable installation. You can get flat plastic conduit in white color with a sticky back that will look fairly decent properly applied at the baseboard. There are proper corner boxes made for inside and outside bends. The real problem is going between the floors. Can do that outside the wall or inside. Outside may be problem attaching a conduit to the wall. Drill through the wall on lower and upper floors, avoiding the structural column. A competent installer should have the job done within two hours. Materials cost will be less than 1500 baht, labor ???.

Before doing this try to see if you can get an acceptable signal with wireless connection, much simpler. Be sure to use a good quality router eg. Linksys/Cisco WAG-160N.

Really, by using an "N" rated router you should be able to cover one building (google "router n or g") to find out more.

If you do go for cabling there is no reason to not use Cat 6 grade cabling - it's very cheap and widely available now. This has a much higher capacity than 5e and will to some extent future-proof your installation. For a while anyway!

    Good luck!

I've served as a Project Manager for several large R&D computer data center design and builds in India, Canada and Europe over the last few years. Use CAT 6, and if you are a user of advanced applications that need good bandwith now, consider CAT 6e if you can find it at a reasonable price, as your current advanced applications are likely to get more advanced. 100 meters distance is too far for a cable run. I wouldn't go longer than about 85 meters. This info is from the best IT engineers I've worked with from India and the US.

Forgot to mention wireless points. The preferred choice I've seen used in commercial applications is Aruba. But you need to check to make sure whichever Aruba model you get, the router is compatible with it. Most WAP's are PoE (powered over Ethernet) and the WAP itself doesn't need it's own separate power source. So you need to make sure your router will support PoE.

Not sure if you can get them in Thailand but if the wiring gets to hard between floors and you cannot get the Wifi type N to work consider using another Wireless access point in another location on same floor as your current Wifi access sometimes you just need to send the Wifi signal from a different location and if this does not work I have also used Ethernet over mains adaptors http://www.netgear.c...Home+Networking they won't give you gigabit speeds but you will get 100mbps+. Just plug into power point near your current router plug in the ethernet cable plug in upstairs and ethernet out to your PC or laptop etc. Ideal for rented apartments and houses where you cannot install cabling.

My number one option is always cabling as I stream Multimedia files across the cables at gigabit plus speed but some times it just not possible so that when the other alternatives need to be considered

  14. My Understanding is the TP-link stuff is a Chinese copy of the Linksys stuff that is the OS/firmware is a copy not sure about the hardware they may have rebuld them with fasted chips. I not used TP-Link but worth a try at the price. I have used Billion after a friend purchased a few for installs. I had nothing but issues with it and a few month latter my friend started replacing all his installed Billion because they also had issues so in my option stay away from Billion.
