  1. I would go the 3G modem or Wi-Fi even if it not the final answer you can at least get on the internet again. Do a scan with the Wi-Fi on you computer or Mobile and see if there any strong Wi-Fi Signals around like AIS or True or even a free Wi-Fi signal.

Second option get a 3G USB modem or a 3G external modem and Sim card from one of the 3G internet providers. If you got a good good signal strength the 3G Usb modems work fine. I presume you got a 3G phone of some sort what sort of signal strength do you have with your current Carrier? if it not great see if a friend on another carrier can come over see if the carrier got stronger signal.

  2. As other have said this could be because there there are no vacant ADSL ports on DMUX which is the connect point at the Telephone exchange or Head office if your American you need to connect to to get internet. Other possibility is no free copper phone lines in your area to get back to the exchange. I would try 3BB first and then TOT and see what they say, to see if you get a same story or maybe your in luck with one of them.

  3. I think if you can remain a True customer in some way i.e ADSL, Truevision via Sat, (Most condos have common Paytv distribution systems) then True should look after you (interested in you posting the result once you get this sorted out but maybe I am being too logical. But the issue is what deal has your new Condo done with whom. When I moved into my condo I wanted someone other than True for internet. Sorry can only be True we have done a exclusive deal with them.

  4. There are number of FX companies that offer better rates than the Banks for transfers into Thailand. Have look at the the web sites for www. fxcompared.com, TorFX, UK Forex, Easy FX, World First, Currencies Direct, The FX firm, Prime FX, etc You need to register with one or two of them them and get authorized because of the Anti money laundering regulation worldwide but once set up will you get better rate than the banks but who gives the best rate will vary by amount you are transferring and their rate on the day it is very dynamic business.

  5. You line Id is most likely your phone number with theletter l on the end like 026773xxxl. None of the ISP ADSL or cable providers have monthly limits I believe here but they do seem to throttle download torrents as certain time like weekends. When you say it a bit slow be aware it most likely the connection out Thailand that is creating the slowness not the raw speed of your ADSL. Test this by going to site hosted locally. VPN's will then slow this more but there many around. I am more fan of XBMC and Nav-x for viewing TV not sure if you can install this on your Smart TV or you need a separate Android TV box i.e like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/400492685465?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

    Do some research.

  6. Try Vibre or Tango for both iphone and Andriod phones.

I used Skype for 2 years calling Thailand from Australia results can be excellent or very bad sometimes you have to call 5+ times just get through, Often it is ringing your end but not at the other end.

If both parties are on the wired internet connection or Wi-Fii it is normally ok but if your trying to call her mobile then can be very frustrating.

  7. I use www.mynetfone.com.au . They will have good plan for you. Excellent quality very reliable as long as your internet connetions is good here.

Thanks for that. So are you using mynetfone from Thailand calling into Australia?

Yes using it all the time but not 100 calls a day! I was using it in Australia before I came here. If you calling landlines not mobiles it AUD$0.10 per call untimed any where in AU but as you will see some calls are bundled into the various plans, you can also have a number in say Sydney or Melbourne which people can call you back on which is I think included in the some plans.

  8. I am on AIS 3G and its previous incarnations. The data used counted on my Samsung phone and the billing system of AIS agree within a few kb. I am on 2Gb monthly plan and struggle to used much over 1GB a month and have a lot programs installed but I do turn Wi-Fi on when at home at night. I am based in Bangkok. Based on what seen with my partner and her daughter viewing online videos is the biggest user of Data plus automatic syncing of email, dropbox etc or other such services. That not to say DTAC and TRUE do not have a major problem with their data billing systems as carriers in other countries certainly have had some very big issues like double bill etc.

  9. The 3TB Western Digital and Seagate Extenal harddrives (USB 3) are now selling for 3890THB. I Purchased one at Fortune IT (Rama 9) last Sunday. If you have desktop computer it is better to install a new 3TB Harddrive in the PC but for simplicity an external drive is the way to go. Just plug it in format the dive and your operational no full covers of the PC plugging in cables etc.

  10. I found this on the Bangkok bank site:

    4. What information do I need to send money to an overseas bank?
Bangkok Bank will need the following details:

    - The recipient’s account name and number
    - The currency and amount of money
    - The name and address of the recipient bank
    - The SWIFT code of the recipient bank (if available)
    - The purpose of the transfer

If you are transferring funds to a bank account in Europe, you should provide an IBAN (International Bank Account Number) in your payment instruction.

    5. Is there a limit to the amount I can transfer?
The maximum amount you can transfer out of Thailand is determined by the Bank of Thailand, depending on the source of funds and/or the purpose of payment, including supporting documents. For example, if you are a foreigner repatriating proceeds from the sale of a condominium, then you would need to submit the purchase and sales contract and ownership title documents. In this case, the maximum transfer amount would be the selling price for the condominium.

Regardless of how much is transferred, the Bank of Thailand requires senders to specify in their payment instruction the purpose of the payment (Thai residents) or the source of the income (for foreigners), as well as present any supporting documents.

    Reason for Transfer

    Supporting Documents

Repatriating income (Foreigner) Letter from your employer stating your income Paying for goods or services Invoice Paying for educational expense

A letter from the college or school stating tuition fees; or Invoice from the school

  11. I think that you may end up paying for the free Router/Wifi router they if they gave you one when you had the service installed and used it for less than 12 Months. Talking with some of my Thai staff they say if the same provider cannot provide the service in your new location you will not get any penalty just pay to end of the current bill month. Good luck if that really the case.
