  1. Anyone that's ever spent a fair amount of time on the various islands in Thailand are well aware that the police are in lockstep with the local mafia. They already know who did it; they're just buying time to figure out how to blame it on a patsy.

For example: Tourist buys a bag of weed off a local dealer (mafia member), the dealer then informs the police that the tourist has a bag of weed, cops nab tourist and scare the living daylights out of him to cough up loads of dough, then cops and mafia share loot.

Cops are also intimately involved with the jet-ski scams as well (you can find it on youtube). The entire investigation is just to kill time. Sean McAnna was lucky to get off the island alive and was smart to upload the photo of the two Thais that threatened to hang him. If the hanging has happened the case would be over now as guilt ridden friend hangs himself after killing two friends.

  2. "They contain what looks like a legit nurses legit uniform, including a real looking pin. Thus the implication is shes the real deal, not just some AV star in a costume."

Why would that be the implication? It's not as if it's hard to get hold of copies of stuff here.

When is the last time you saw knockoff nursing pins for sale?

    Step 1: Knockoff a couple of nurses...then....

  3. I had a Thai girl friend that went for my head with a meat clever but fortunately I blocked it with my arm. Once I started bleeding profusely all over the place she realized what she had done and took me to the hospital. It took 36 stitches inside and 28 outside to sew it up and I still have a huge scar. She had flipped out with jealousy because I had stared at a fat chick with a mini-skirt and fish-net stockings. I was not sexually aroused by this fat chick but it was more like a car accident that you just couldn't help but look at (what the fuq is she thinking).

Her jealousy destroyed our relationship and when ever she flipped out I immediately went to the knife drawer and threw them off the balcony to avoid any more bloodshed (my knife budget increase considerably during those episodes...having to replace the ones that didn't survive the fall). Needless to say our relationship didn't last long and when she bragged about finding a new & better boy-friend after I dumped her, I just breathed a sigh of relief. I just pitied the poor bastard that got stuck with her.

  4. Truly admire that little girl for putting up such a brave fight. She'll make it in life, not matter what.

As for the parents... I hope they will receive the punishment they deserve. What cowardly lowlifes! I am lost for words...

As for the parents... They believe in flesh eating ghosts and un-dead boogie men from the beyond. They have first hand accounts and photographic evidence to prove the girl was cursed. Many of the locals in the girl's village will be able to confirm sightings of the ghosts.

    Sad, but true.

In Africa (there are YouTube/live-leak videos) parents who believe their children are possessed by the devil burn them alive.

And I would be willing to bet that these supposedly possessed children just happened to be unplanned and also promised to be a burden on the families resources. How convenient that they found a way to get rid of unwanted children by miraculously discovering that they are possessed.

  5. Fair points Tim Tang. I should have toned it down. Apologies.

This story touched me deeply so I am probably lacking perspective (I have a daughter we informally adopted from within our previously dirt-poor Thai family)

Not a problem! I appreciate you kind manner and I don't take anything personally on this site anyway. If this story is true I will be the first to renounce my skepticism, but I still remain suspicious because I've had 5 daughters and I can tell you that a THREE YEAR OLD would not survive the scenario that has been presented. You having a daughter yourself must realize that this story is a bit too much to believe. 5 years old...maybe! 3...not a chance.

You are not alone TimTang, I agree with everything you said except when you said "five years old". I would say much more than that even.

    HL

Let me have another look at the "Tarzan" movie, then I'll get back to you. I'm not sure at what age a human could possibly fend for itself but it does intrigue me to find out if there is any evidence in the history of humanity that may legitimize this story. From my personal experience I would agree with you; even at 5 a child would be hard pressed to survive on it's own. Impossible I don't know; but THREE...not a chance.

  7. Having read through all the posts there seems to be one common desire by all posters...that is to provide this poor girl with money to free her from this burden that has been placed on her.

This is starting to look more and more like a Nigerian scam to pull hearts strings so people will pump money into her bank account. Who set up her bank account and where is that money going.

It may be best to wait until it's proven that this is a legitimate story before you start sending money to some obscure bank account that was set up by WHO? So her parents abandoned her BUT they decided to set up a bank account. HOW CONVENIENT!!!

The King is scammed - shock horror.

Should have read the whole story-line before pushing the cynical button. at least the others stopped at scepticism.

    cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

Until I see this on the front page of the 'Bangkok Post' and the 'Nation' I will still be skeptical. In the mean time feel free to humiliate me all you want; it's free, it doesn't hurt, and probably brings you much pleasure; so knock yourself out!

  8. A three year old who can survive mostly on their own? Something just doesn't feel right about this one.

Anyone that's had a child will wounder how this is possible. A 3 year old could not possibly fend for them-self. 5...maybe but 3 doesn't pass the smell test. If it is indeed true then this would be a miraculous accomplishment; maybe neighbors assisted but kept their distance?

Cynics should pend a week or two in an Isaan village - then they'll understand smile.png

I have spent much longer than a "week or two" in an Isaan village and this scenario just doesn't seem to pass the smell test. It's true that there are many poor people in Isaan but the monks are generally a positive part of the community and to think that some religious person could convince an entire family to abandon their residence as well as a three year old child is simply UNBELIEVABLE!!! We're supposed to believe that the people are so stupid to believe this horseshite? It simply dose not pass the smell test. I know many, many, many people from Isaan of all ages from children to old folks and they are simply NOT THAT STUPID!

  11. Obviously this ladyboy does not look at her best in these photos, but I'm willing to bet that she looks good when made up and dressed in the bar.

We don't know what happened here, except that someone was attacked which may or may not have been an act of self defence.

    I know this:

1/ I have been to that bar myself, and many other ladyboy bars and I have never been attacked or ever seen any of the "girls" acting in any threatening or violent manner at all.

2/ I have seen many men be incredibly rude and insulting to ladyboys in Thailand, and I have witnessed farang men physically assaulting a ladyboy for no reason.

Like I said, I don't know what happened here, but the poor quality of reporting probably means I never will.

So you're NOT speculating or anything...RIIIIGHT. Point 1: But Lady boys GOOD; Point 2: American BAD.

  12. I can't believe so many people are anti-rat! Everyone loves squirrels and chipmunks; Why? Because they have a furry tail. If Rats had a furry tail everyone would want one.

On one of my treks to Isan I came across a food vendor that had a collection of barbecued meat on a stick. When I noticed that there were obviously 4 legs on this critter I asked the girl I was with, what might they be? As it turns out they were rats. I didn't try one but I'm sure that anyone that did would say they taste just like chicken. Until the Colonel starts selling Kentucky Fried Rat, I think I'll just stick with chicken.

  13. One other comment. I have found after living in both countries its relative in most regards but I did find in Thailand I can insulate myself from exorbitant living costs. In the US there is simply no way. COL chases you relentlessly and its why people work until they die never enjoying some extended personal freedom. Usually by the time they can slowdown they have medical issues and now their savings go to doctors coupled with they can not go far from their home.

One thing I would never do is have a Thai GF/wife and go work back in my home country sending her money. Bad bad idea for a myriad of reasons. You might as well drive down the freeway and roll down your window and toss your money out. In many cases its the same thing as many foreigners painfully find out as time marches on.

    Good Luck

I agree particularly with your second paragraph. You end up getting requests for 500 bucks here 500 there, then it's 800 for this and maybe a grand for that. After working for a year and your couple of weeks of vacation arrives you suddenly realize you don't have enough in your savings account to even pay for a return flight. You find you're stuck in a long distance love affair with a women you'll most likely never have sex with again and you don't have enough disposable income to finance a decent retirement fund.

The monthly insurance payments on my used car is the equivalent of the monthly payments on a brand new car. After 10 years of paying insurance I could have bought 3 new cars.

  14. I'm sure there are lots of ways to put people into a light sleep using gas but also very dangerous, I find it highly unlikely this method was used in this instance

I'd be more inclined to look at catering or food and drink sellers on the train, I've never been on a Thai train so have no clue how the distribution works

If I was investigating this I'd be very carefully checking food and drink supplies

Every passenger on a train is provided with a free bottle of water (at least they used to). That could be one way of drugging most of the passengers, provided they all drank the water.

You can actually pop the entire cap off of some of the cheaper bottles of water without breaking the seal. The seal on these bottles is so poorly designed that some times you HAVE to do it that way just to drink the water because the stupid seal snaps without the lid being completely released.
