No, I am a private trader not a broker, also not Thai.

If I understand correctly, you plan to operate some kind of training center for Trading stocks, currencies and other commodities and looking for a partner.

I am not opening a training center. I will teach how to trade the markets with the purpose to make money on a regular basis, as a business and as a job.

I am trading Commodity Futures and Spreads mostly. Sometimes Stockindizes, but no single stocks though its also not a problem to do that.

I want to offer education by arranging introductions, seminars, private tutorings and support via internet by trading suggestions (for free) or phone.

I am not selling signals.

I am teaching when and where to do what and when or where not.

Hi there,

I am an independent Financial Trader who is living in Phuket. Since certain time I am considering to run a business here or Bkk to provide Trading Education for people who would like to work from a place of their choice and making a living above the average (for Thailand) standards or just to fight low season as they are working in the tourism industry.

Actually I could start this anytime since I got a chance to operate here according to the law requirements.

I have a good concept worked out but finally can´t realize it yet because there is so many tasks involved that it would not be able to handle them alone.

What I would need is at least 2 more people with good computer skills and a permanent residence here. (basic skills about the capital markets would be requested)

I am not offering a paid job by the beginning but an opportunity for someone who wants to operate in a market niche of good potential and for instance independent of any seasonality.

There is no investments required and for the people who want to be in I am offering free education in reverse to their help.

As soon all this can be started as a business this relation will be converted to

a partnership.

I am actually happy enough with my performance but want to do something usefull and not yet existing.

By the years I saw so many people who tried to make a living here with (sometimes good) business ideas and most of them got completely broken or at least had to give up their dreams after a while.

Fundamental and Technical sharing of info possible, my friends, without starting another war between the two factions?

Mine are technical -- the December bottom took a big hit momentumwise and imp. uptrendlines were broken. This, along with the current rallys' volume suggests to me that we are heading for a final TOP in this long uptrend -- where will it be? Are we going to take out the 54-55 pervious top or go higher.

My plan is to go SHORT @ or as close as possible to the upcoming top. This is easier said than done, but I will try to get it right -- My expectation is that, from this top we are then going to head into the deep south, in the $10 range over the next couple years. If right, SHORT profits can be substantial. If wrong, don't worry -- an unequivocal STOP will get me out in a jiffy.

I would like your opinions, tech, funadamental or other -- anybody seen the latest "commitment of traders" report?

technically you can try to short the crude at around 51 with a tough stop. Despite we still have a longterm uptrend there is rather a chance for the market to switch into a price congestion with a rangetop of 51-52 and a bottom of 40 than we well see new highs.

I am of the oppinion that oil will drop within the next 2 years but my oppinion like everyones else doesnt count in Trading.

Crude oil and all the energies are quite difficult to trade at the moment and if you are not really a pro then better you keep your fingers away.

Does anyone trade on the Thai SET?

why / why not?

Hi yuyi,

It is possible to do some Trading (Gambling) with the SET stocks its just lousy brokerage quality what you get offered.

If you are trading (investing) based on fundamental research than that might be not a problem in case you have your strategy worked out properly.

But for technical Trading (charting based) I couldn't get pursuaded of the available features.

If there would be more professional tools available the SET and its stocks would be a great market to trade. But seemingly the brokerage firms are quite satisfied with their current number of customers they can rip off.

to change back a certain amount in cash (thaibaht back to Sterling) might be possible but I never did it so I cannot help about that.

In your case this is a substantial amount if you want to buy a condo. By the way if you arrive with a suitcase full of cash at the airport you won´t leave the country quick I guess.

But why don´t you simply ask at both of your banks?

hi,

for this you would need to open a foreign currency account what you are probably not allowed to. But this would cost you a lot of additional fees anyway.

The rates that you got is for somebody who wants to change Sterling against Thaibaht but you need to do it in reverse order.

You can send the baht amount to England and your bank there will change it to Sterling at a very bad rate which you should ask for in advance.

So as soon as you know all your fees try to drop down the purchasing price for your condo accordingly.

no you won´t get this rate. Ask for the buying rate for Thai baht at your bank in England. The spread will be larger.

interesting for you is the rate that your English bank is offering for the Thaibaht in case you change it back. Then you can calculate your loss.

Hi Jean,

I want to mark a few things to that disussion:

If you think this project to be worth an investment then look for somebody in your personal circle of aquaintances.

As long the lease is not extended to a longer term I really doubt that you can find anybody who is willed taking the risk.

To pick up a loan (dedicated to this purpose) on your name is almost impossible, I dare to claim. (Even if a Thai garantuees - by the way, not out of cynicism but out of experience I tell you that generally the Thai will never trust the Farang. If he does, then you can be sure to work together with the right guy!).

Beyond I think that you need to offer more than a fictive percentage of interest on the borrowed money. The Thaibaht is not predictable for a 3 to 5 year time frame but sure it will not be at a similar value than now!

Anyway you should stick with your plan if you are really convinced and don´t listen or reply to comments of people who just want to show off somehow because they are bored.

I am an independent Trader of Futures and Stocks and will be in Thailand from October, staying until June at least. As I am working from there I can educate you and give you a more optimistic outlook for the future. Even if you are without money you could learn something interesting, especially for making a living in a country where you don´t get many chances and have almost no rights.
