  1. If you have a national park the law is you cannot build houses or businesses there ??? so how can anyone produce a deed paper to say the place is legit. Sick corrupt lot is all I can say......

    Thank you for your post.

People who follow this thread should be able to answer your question.

But what I like more about this post is it shows a typical poster, with absolutely no knowledge and no understanding of the problem at hand, making a definitive, and usually very negative, judgement about Thailand and Thai people.

But there is optimistic moral to that. Educate yourself and you will definitely learn to enjoy Thailand and its people.

My apologies--KNOW ALL i'm just a poster airing my bit--better you take over the thread as you know the answers. I've been here educating myself for 30 years and still know nowt. Where were you highly educated ??B)

  2. Taksin tells Yingluck, "Work harder and you'll get the 300 Baht a day I promised in the election."

This ex PM is one of those silly spoiled kids, and a remark to his sister says it all, Him to say that to a Leader of the Thai people, if she was good enough he wouldn't have to advise ---who's next to post , this topic will get more interesting i'm sure.

  3. UPDATE:

Revenue Dept Defends Tax Return for Thaksin's Children

The deputy director-general of the Revenue Department has defended the agency's decision to return a 12-billion baht tax to the two children of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, saying they were not the true owners of Shin Corp shares.

Deputy Director-General and Acting Spokesperson of the Revenue Department, Jitramanee Suwanpul defended the agency's decision not to pursue the collection of 12 billion baht worth of income tax from the two children of self-exiled former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Panthongtae and Pinthongta.

She cited the Central Tax Court's judgement, saying the tax assessment levied against Thaksin's children is regarded as invalid, because the two were not the true owners of the shares of Shin Corporation.

The Supreme Court's Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions ruled that the shares were in fact owned by the ex-premier and his wife.

Thaksin's children then made an appeal with the Central Tax Court seeking a tax return and the release of frozen assets, which the court has been deliberating since June.

Director-General of the Revenue Department, Satit Rangkasari, dismissed the change of government and political influence as reasons for his agency's decision to return the tax to Panthongtae and Pinthongta, while insisting that his agency considers tax issues according to regulations and the law.

Here is the quote from the decision maker................

    QUOTE

She cited the Central Tax Court's judgement, saying the tax assessment levied against Thaksin's children is regarded as invalid, because the two were not the true owners of the shares of Shin Corporation.

In court was there any perjury or any deceit or any untruths told, this is against the law isn't it ?????

How in hell can they be given the money back. Who transferred the names over to avoid tax,???? who then said they owned' BITS' (( SHE cited))--who is SHE ?/ surely a high court should intervene here.

  4. This is such a classic look at Thailand, and what is fundamentally wrong with this country......... The government officials that have let all this development occur suddenly look like they are fighting for the good of the Thai people by protecting the forest areas. The reality is that the officials will be able to extract more money from the resorts. I already stated in an earlier post that not ONE brick will be removed. Now I see that instead of the usual Thai solution of letting these problems quietly go away, the new solution is to redraw the forest preserve line

That's actually the smart way to go.

You're right, the old way would have been to let the problem quietly goes away. Nothing is solved, the foxes (local officials) stay in charge of the henhouse, "rents" are raised, back to business as usual.

By making the resorts "legals", you can regulate them. And there is a lot that needs to be done : noise pollution, water management, waste management ....

Some self regulation was already in place , especially regarding noise pollution, but some more serious problems, especially regarding water and waste management, should be handle at a highest level. It's not that people are not aware of the problem, it's just it's too complicated to be solved at a "village" level.

Also, when people talk about redrawing the boundaries, it's not letting people encroaching in forest area, it's about deciding which lands should be managed by the RFD and which lands should be managed by other departments. It has already been made clear that people without official land titles (people on forest ground) will be evicted), they're only talking about upgrading land usage from farming to tourism.

If you have a national park the law is you cannot build houses or businesses there ??? so how can anyone produce a deed paper to say the place is legit. Sick corrupt lot is all I can say......

But is there any questions to be asked on the Island KOH CHANG===KOH SAMET and all other areas, indeed ask questions about Khorat, this National park scandal is a complete joke.

  5. Is this the same police chief that just stood by and watched the red army setup camp in Bangkok last year?

Think so-But you cannot expect the Thai police to Police the place can you, they are only trained to set up roadside checks. If they were to do their job properly they would have prevented the build up of reds in areas of Bkk, NOT for them to hide when the burning and looting was going on.==SWAP the army and police around, lets have the police on the borders protecting the realm.

The police should have stopped the northern migration of red shirts from traveling in convoys of buses and pick-ups to Bkk. The police should have stopped the thousands of tyres and bamboo poles being brought in to Bkk city. the police should have prevented the amalgamation of protesters in ares, SACK the lot. If you are going to replace don't choose a brother of Thaksins ex wife --PLEASE

  6. Strange. I'm sure this is the same guy who was promising new aircarft on the London route. Guess his pitch for the money from the shareholder (Abhisit et al) fell on deaf ears, so it's time to get out the paintbrush and take a trip down Big Buy for some make-over electronics.

I can live without IFE as they fly night-times and I sleep like a baby on planes. But surely they are not planning on running those old crocs for another few years? Lucky for them that they can control competition and new entrants via the shareholder. otherwise EVA would cream them out of existence on that route (now that EVA are finally raising their food standards from bloody awful to average!

Etihad, Qatar and Emirates must be shaking in their boots (not)

Thai -Where has your money gone????????? Oil prices down again-75% occupancy -running jumbo's for 20+ years, hardly a new craft bought-monopoly in many areas-poor attitude-monies before not spent on GRADUAL updating- All the extra charges on top of the main price (many that should NOT apply now) The main thing that is so crazy about this Thai Airways topic is Thais PRICES, so to sum up, since the 747-400s were put into servce on the PROFITABLE European routes 20 years ago==I say again where has your money gone. naturally there will be no explanation, who was doing your book keeping???

  7. I don't recall seeing you commenting too much in past threads on the Airport Rail Link service... But if you had, you would see that I've been one of the most consistent and vocal critics here of the way they have done and are doing things, particularly with the Airport Express part of the operation.

Also, I'm not "promoting" anything... Simply responding to question raised earlier in this thread about the prospect of a Makkasan to Petchburi walkway, since there was no mention of it anywhere in this thread. And my only purpose and point was to let other newcomers here know that such a project has been planned and publicly aired... What's become of it... I said before and I'll say again, I don't know...

Here's some of the past references here on TV to it...

(Note: the SRT has reportedly set aside a B70 million budget to build an elevated 200 meter length walkway link between Makkasan and MRT Petburi, but when that is finished is anyone's guess)

    http://www.thaivisa....ost__p__3867732

19/12/10: The SRT will also build walkways connecting the Airport Link's Makkasan Station to the MRT underground's Phetchaburi Station, while additional escalators will be provided to facilitate passengers carrying baggage at three stations including Phaya Thai, Ratchaprarop and Ramkhamheang. All are expected to be complete at the beginning of next year, the SRT chairman pledged.

    http://www.thaivisa....ost__p__4165665

A walkway from Makkasan City Air Terminal to Petchaburi MRT station is in the works.

    http://www.thaivisa....ost__p__3840421

And so on and so forth... Those are just a few of the many references to the project here, not by me...but by other TV members...

All we hear about is were gonna do this were gonna do that, and yes this was a very well discussed topic but alas these topics are spewed out with only a tiniest of follow ups from the media.

The media hear of all these proposals and very rarely do their jobs in asking for further info from the authorities. The simply look for a new topic and forget the old ones. Easy work isn't it to print out ?? but no or little investigating graft. My feeling is very little backbone or FEAR of ?????

  8. Seems this is a bad attempt to remind people that the Monsoon Season is near.

From the April water festival through to November in the northern areas it is expected to be the wet (monsoon ) season, cool and dry through to April. ( this does vary a little)

This spokesperson from the centre doesn't know the difference between a storm-hurricane-tempest-typhoon-from a monsoon season.

If we only had monsoon from August to November near all Thai rice and sugar cane crops would be lost.

  9. Why don't they look at the MAIN road that runs from Bangkok to Chiang Mai / Chiag Rai.OK the Bangkok part of the road is good but when you get off the new 3 - 4 lane road that was built maybe 5 years ago, the rest of the roads can be down to one lane because of the constant deterioration of the roads.I suppose they don't build "good" roads because there is more money to be made by repairing them.

They don't build "good" roads because they obviously don't know how. Every road I have travelled here, including ones recently completed, are already crumbling....they would probably like to get the Germans to help with this series of motorways....GOOD LUCK!

IDEA--instead of getting the antique submarines from the Germans, use the money to get the Germans to make the roads ?????? also sell the scrapped(or should have been) aircraft carrier and use that money-or get the bib to hand over ALL the revenue obtained at road checks to help fund the road program.......... next

  10. So simple to build across the street from the parks and have everyone enjoy then. I'm all for tearing them down and making a point about it.

Sorry, you broke the law now live with it !

    I'm with you too.

But why stop here ? I know an other class of people who break the law on a regular basis and seem to get away with it, at a great cost for the Thai society : foreigners !

All foreigners who have been in Thailand for more than 1 to 3 month within one year period without proper visa (employment, retirement ...) should immediately be kicked out, regardless of their familial situation in Thailand (wife, kids ...) and the investment they have made in the kingdom.

All the reasons that have been given to expel villagers and investors from Wang Nam Khieo can easily be recycled to to justify the immediate expulsion of overstayers from the Kingdom

Sorry, you broke the law now live with it !

Those grapes are REALLY SOUR, aren't they! I'll ask you again, get caught holding a dodgy lease when the excreta hit the rotary cooling device?

BTW I have a Type O Non-Imm, visa run next week.

Christ I have,..... didn't know I was breaking the law. Why then does Thai consulate give '0' visa for 90 days--one after another--if it's illegal--NOW a tourist visa is getting more difficult, On topic as a poster pointed out 50% are still operating 11 years on 5555555555555Ha Ha and to cap it all this head N.P chief is only saying now they have to be demolished, WHERE HAS HE BEEN HIDING ?????:cheesy::giggle::redcard1:

  11. The main reason more people don't use the express line more is that taxis in Thailand are ridiculously cheap. If a taxi to the airport was $50 like in some cities people would take the train, at 200 baht they don't bother. In the future taxis will be more expensive and there will be additional mass transit links to the line, and the express line will be packed

Where were the original government planning officers approving of the line??? didn't they see that there were serious connect problems??? shows that no one looked at the original plan/or maybe you don't look too close over dinner!!!!---------------Here we have a new airport bodged up all the time-----TG Thai International giving it's antique planes a facelift------------a poorly organised and planned rail link----------I know here and there there are goodies BUT these are High profile mega projects/businesses. <deleted>

(does the rail link own the taxis I wonder) if not ==good idea. These people that run these national treasures-couldn't run a raffle. Maybe I couldn't do the job, BUT I am not getting the wages and perks they are.

I have to agree the road around the Tak area is a bloody disgrace and a fatality waiting to happen. The road is full of pot holes and patches.

agreed, what road you have is in between a track and a tacky road to Tak

  13. In 1997, the Cabinet approved the department's 20-year master plan to construct 13 inter-provincial highways totalling 4,150 kilometres and with nationwide coverage. However, only two routes were constructed - Bangkok-Chon Buri and the Outer Ring Road.

The department held a public hearing on the inter-provincial highways yesterday and the findings will be used to adjust the project's master plan and development plan.

So, nothing north of Korat then.

Korat?... Korat? <deleted>, what's north of Korat?

Ain't that Red Shirt country where they grow rice and there's lots of farmers? Who needs motorways up there? Pave the dirt roads, that's OK but motorways.. my God! Can't have the E'tans racing along and burning out their two stroke engines can we?

Got to deal with the important areas first like more motorways down to the eastern seaboard. so hi-sos and expats can get to their getaway condos in Pattaya even faster.:whistling:

What happens to be north-including Korat, is the three biggest cities outside of BKK thats all, + a few red shirts and buffalo's and Majority nearly of Thai population. Some folks should get out more.

    Can you spell FACETIOUS?.

    Can't even say it B)

  14. I understand, If you have your comfort and the direct flight at your times and it suits, o.k. good,

But for me its the whole aspect of it, If Thai are short of cash and have to delay the new aircraft ordered, how have they found monies to update aged ones.

I also like my comfort but to start to think about structural things when my plane is over 20 years, being re done up and therefore run it till it's WHAT ????? They are always spouting about being the worlds leading carrier, having over 70% passenger rate, WHERE has the money gone over the last 20 years ??? If you have a very old LADA car you do not fit new seats==if you have a collectors item you do.

Refurbishing a plane's interior is much cheaper than buying a new plane. 20 years isn't that old in the life of an airliner. It's much younger than a 20 yo car. And you could hardly compare it to a Lada.

You don't say!!!!! Ha. look at what I was meaning rather than trying to pick at slight comparisons.

When you have a National carrier boasting of being in the worlds top 5, you expect better than this.

When you refurb all your fleet I agree as the world already knows it's cheaper than buying all new. BUT I never said buy ALL new, if read I said in previous posts refurb many of the less important routes. The use the cash to buy the already to be delivered A380s for the premier European routes, The Aussie routes you have leased aircraft, newish 777er,s Dont forget 20 year old planes are not dangerous we know but refurb till 10 more years passes then YES ancient . AND I didn't compare the 747-400 to the lada, you have to see why I said it.

  15. Tragedies caused by foreigners to make Thailand look bad.

How dare these non Thai people come here and have the audacity to try to tarnish our reputation. Because of something out of our reach, it's unfortunate this one off situation happened. We always will insist on the highest standards in our tourist hotels, and any complaints will be dealt with quickly with no questions unanswered. As for any persons here who would even try to cover up any wrong doings will always be dealt with severely.:whistling:

  16. Tell me honestly would you have voted for my wife if her last name was Shinawatra? She has no political experience she can smile and say now is not the time to talk about it.

Hard to judge whether she is properly qualified without seeing a picture. Would you care to post? If not, can you tell us her hot or not score.biggrin.gif

I'm more interested in the serious matters. I'd like to know her position on geckos, whether she has tried petrol station coffee, and if she can comb her own hair or not?

Combing her hair - she will do that every minute of the day as all Thai females are pre occupied with this, (it's not a bad thing though) the other fear of gecko's -the small chinchuks, or the larger Tukkair (call sound) good food in Issan fetch 40 bht for a decent sized one, they live on the outside of house walls catching flies and creepy crawlies Her voters live with these creatures, If she new how Thai persons lived and understood the gecko's she may well be not afraid.

o.k. everyone has a fear but telling posters about such stupid little things, making believe these Hi-SOs are quite ordinary folks.:bah: on the happiness point my previous post covered that

  17. In 1997, the Cabinet approved the department's 20-year master plan to construct 13 inter-provincial highways totalling 4,150 kilometres and with nationwide coverage. However, only two routes were constructed - Bangkok-Chon Buri and the Outer Ring Road.

  18. I read an article on the way Thai people feel about the way things have been (past tense); generally about issues over the last several years that would bring on these feelings.

What I read in the posts to this article are nothing more than innuendos about Thaksin's failed government healthcare plan, which failed due to his opponents creating delay in the funding to assist with subsidies the hospitals and practitioners to perform their Hippocratic oath to the sick and needy. Government healthcare around the world has always been a failure.

I read sardonic prophesies about the future with reference tot he Shinawatra family.

I read childish and immature smacks regarding the new PM's personal choice in how she presents herself, smacks against what she plans to do in the future, and the future outlook on the consequences of Thais being lazy freeloaders.

I have not read anything regarding any possible reasons the past has made these people feel this way. Nothing but avoidance, and the visceral hunger to smack anything Shinawatra. It really is nauseating. I bring this up to rub it in your faces. It is a form of hijacking an OP with continual bashing towards a certain family and altogether avoiding anything constructive to say about the thesis of an article, or why it was written. it dillutes the quality of this forum, and makes it boring because there is no originality in the posts. Anything that doesn't type along with the drivel gets attacked. That's my opinion. That's the way it smells.

I feel this article perhaps lists a few interesting reasons that the elections turned out the way they did. I trust the happiness index will go up as the people's decisions have won the day, and the future is the direct result of their vote. There's no need to rehash the past. The people aren't happy. Clearly the past made them that way. Not the future, or what any of you think about a certain lady's flashy smile and perfect hair style.

To get back into power the Shinawatra's had to promise the world to the all the big babies here.

Now they are IN they should be coughing up the sweets = but they will stall as long as they can, that is why now the the big babies are not happy, and the longer the P.M. stalls the babies will start stamping their feet, then they will start screaming. This is Thai childrens way of getting what they want, the grown ups are the same. YOU SEE.

If the P.M. pays all and gives all,-- good=the babies will be happy and the government will be bankrupt. I actually am looking forward to the outcome. Don't forget you Thai's the biggest promise was that all the poor will become rich in 6 months??

  19. The reason I did not "answer" (I am not the spokesperson, by the way :whistling: ) to the comments made about buying aircraft is that I don't know anything about the background of the changed decision beyond what was in the papers. I won't make assumptions or create or spread rumours, so I thought it best to not comment. Is that OK with you? :jap:

Rumours-I don't tell porky pies--The statement that was made was on Thai Visa if you were wanting the truth you would have looked the thread up-a true report on the orders of the new aircraft-stated how many-when they will be phased in-what types-and this was by the chief himself.

As to the delay that was put on the European new A380, and others it said was due to shortage of cash QUOTE. Just to note compare the price of a new B-777er-----A-380. to the price of the refurbishment. ====20+ year old 747-400s. Normally we would give a refurb on an antique with its value increasing NOT on aged old planes that could well be scrapped or sold off to say (((Mongolian airlines)) with respect to them. if then you want to learn more about the above look the thread up it was only a short time ago. I dont hate Thai Airways-I am a member. But I do care about what I fly in and also cost compare, as we all do these days. I think I have been honest with my posts, and not on a Etihad/Emirates/Singapore/Cathay paycheck.

I did ask you if the chief in his refurb speech mentioned the delays?? and the other points...He wouldn't if he a

was spouting on about the changes he wishes to make, spending money that was to be spent on aircraft waiting in Europe to be delivered. Save the money-even if you only get 2 A380s for the London/Europe run.

I don't know anything about this. Forgive me if I don't answer in detail. My interest during his speech was indeed on the seats and not on the policy of whether or not to buy new aircraft. As a passenger, I sit in the seat and like it or not - and am not concerned about the airline's strategy. If their strategy goes counter my interests (seat and IFE, as well as routes served), I have no choice but to use another airline. With my particular priorities, this doesn't happen very often, though.

I understand, If you have your comfort and the direct flight at your times and it suits, o.k. good,

But for me its the whole aspect of it, If Thai are short of cash and have to delay the new aircraft ordered, how have they found monies to update aged ones.

  20. BTW bonobo, you will need to check the THAI website as to which booking classes don't qualify for full mileage or any mileage when flying with other carriers. There are many exceptions and if they bought you a relatively cheap ticket then indeed you won't be eligible for THAI miles. Has happened to me a few times, but since I have almost always booked my own flights in recent years I've tried to ensure I do receive miles even if I have to pay a bit extra.

Thais Modern aircraft usually on the Australia routes are leased from an Indian company (b777er) I believe. posters are talking about perks=monitors= instead of the answer to the topic, why spend a few billion refurbish aged 747s etc, 20+ years of service to last another 10 years. For gods sake that will give them one of the oldest fleets in the worlds top 100 airlines, why not speak to Airbus again and get the orders put back on the actual delivery dates, use the money on 2 or 3 new aircraft and stop the cosmetics. The new aircraft will give them greater economy and already have the new upgrades.

One poster did say he would rather pay a lot more money for his ticket to get his air miles  Why pay for your air miles to get them back ???????????

The OP says that the fourth route under consideration does run from northern-Bangkok to Nakhon Sawan, which is indeed the main route towards CM/CR, as you suggest.

Its amazing no poster wants the rail issue brought up==Getting traffic off the roads. 2 Tracks is all thats needed, this money would pay or go forward to pay for much of it

I do get a feeling that roads and rail are not discussed together. Like getting a transport system to work together for the good of all.

    NOT for VIP pockets

  22. 'customers'

    say it all really

15 years ago in the UK we had to refer to students as "customers" and "clients"... really stuck in the craw... and they're still at it.

That said I am suprised by the reports frindings.

WE ALL read the bit that said make sure your passport is not invalid--Ha Ha............where do we go to get a new one HONG KONG ????................because you want to take care of your Thai -Brits.....your too busy doing less important things I suppose................Why don't you do something to help, like comment frequently about visa runs to the Thai authorities, no increment increases on OAP pensions, Get back your passport desk, and put in a few more hours, I had to do when I worked for the FCO. But you have absolute power have you???

  23. So what happened to the train lines?

Because big money can be put into pockets of hundreds of VIPs in the road building industry, as opposed to rail that is easier to transparent, Heavy goods companies/Tour buses/ high speed VIP escorted convoys/ traffic police blocks/oil companies and the rest of the excuses to build road rather than have this money to subsidize the new rail links in the near future. Thailand will be paying big interest charges to China over years, so put this money up front and get on with twin tracks ASAP.

  24. Ginjag #35 please read.

    I did, of course. :)

For all your Thai promotion( sounds like your on the board) and your ref., to the chief who seems to be a near friend.

If you read my post on this 2nd page I mentioned about the last thread on this Thai Airways subject.

You seemingly didn't want to answer re-the buying of new aircraft, loads of them spread over the next7years. YES they have been ordered, but as I said why did they defer buying the first lot through shortage of funds-(QUOTE)

  25. Jatuporn says (in another thread) that the party-members have not yet been consulted about the new Cabinet, now Ms Yingluck says it's not being picked by Thaksin despite "Thaksin Thinks, Pheu Thai Acts", so who exactly has been working on the selection of the new Cabinet over the past 4 weeks ?

Someone needs to get a move-on, as there are now only 5 months left, to "make every Thai rich", and the clock is still ticking ! It will be good to see the new PM confirmed, over the next few days, but that's only the start of the task ahead of her & her Cabinet.

Yes just think about it, all you ex pats, in 5 months you will never have to run to the ATM to get some Baht out for someones grandmother dying AGAIN.. with All the poor people going to be rich again, you want to be thankful for the Thaksins of this world. Just dream about it==all that extra money we will have to spend on our selfish selves for a change==YIPPEEEEEEE :partytime2::burp::cheesy:
