New insurance requirement is coming ?
federicoP replied to federicoP's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I am going to India for a couple of weeks and later will return to Thailand. I am fully vaccinated and my health expenses are covered by a health fund financed by my professional organization. But it is not an "insurance" and it is not accepted by Thailand. So I would like to avoid unnecessary thai insurance policies. For this reason, and because I like to know what is appening in Thailand I posted my message. Could I do it ? -
I read today on Bangkok Post this Mister Anutin declaration : "Visitors arriving from China won't be treated differently from travellers from other countries, they must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and hold an appropriate health insurance policy." Does it means that a new insurance requirement for people arriving from elsewhere is coming ?

But still it appears that you have to check-in at domestic terminal. Maybe it depends on the airline but, for my next flight HKT-BKK-HAN, both with Thai/ThaiSmile I have been told to go to the domestic.

Last year I got a jab (Pfizer) at a public hospital in Phuket, only the passport was required. At present, in Phuket, Vachira Hospital, that is a public hospital, is giving jabs to foreigners requiring only the passport : https://www.thephuketnews.com/walk-in-covid-jabs-still-available-86418.php I suppose in other part of Thailand should be the same

The Indian Embassy in Bangkok still requires the self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal but, as far as I know, this requiremnts should have been deleted starting from the 22nd of November. I think that the Embassy is not updated and that all the covid requirements (declarations, PCR-RT report, certificate of vaccination....) have been cancelled. Does anyone have updated and official information ? Federico

Vietnam entry by air - "Back to Normal?"
federicoP replied to aldriglikvid's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
I too am going to Vietnam for a 15 days trip, and the information that I got are: - Visa exempt entry for some countries (Finland included) up to 15, days. Passport with 6 months validity and 2 blank pages - No Covid (vaccine or swab) requirements - it is not clear if it is still required an health insurance 10.000 USD including Covid. Vietnam Airline has deleted it from its requirements, but I did not find any official information about its cancellation. Going with visa exemption I preferred stipulate one with AXA (300 bath....) federico -
Almost twenty years ago I bought a small villa in Nai Harn, it was a quiet place, with a small, semi-deserted beach but not far from Phuket Town and its services and restaurant. By now things have changed a lot, the beach has remained the same, but the single-family houses have multiplied and in this period they are almost all occupied by Russian families, they also have built huge condominiums that are just awaiting the reopening of the Chinese borders and the arrival of the next thousand Chinese tourists. The small beach is now too crowded, and the traffic unpleasant. I would therefore like to move, but I would like to find a quiet place (I am over seventy years old), with a decent beach, without high rise buildings, not far from services such as hospitals and shopping centers and good restaurants, especially Thai ones. I thought about Koh Lanta, Chumpon, Hua In, but all were rejected fore some reason. Now my question is: In your opinion which is (if it still exists) the area of Phuket that can best offer what I'm looking for and that gives hope, for a few years, of not being overwhelmed by an invasion of foreign tourists like those that we have seen in recent years? I do not think it still exists, but I would appreciate to hear some other opinion........ federico

Ido not know in Karon / Chalong, but if you are looking for the official Samsung Service Center you may find it in Phuket Town, Phang Nga Rd on the right, going eastbound. They look to be quite efficient. https://www.google.com/search?tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:4&tbm=lcl&sxsrf=ALiCzsY7Rl8Ap-FTK7nebjJXCGYtaJLF9w:1669271713107&q=samsung+shop+thailand&rflfq=1&num=10&ved=2ahUKEwjO4_jbmcb7AhWhhP0HHWbWCtgQtgN6BAgXEAY#rlfi=hd:;si:9516445003356823801;mv:[[7.886578929567471,98.40187569924939],[7.879256614580301,98.38806768724072],null,[7.88291778826964,98.39497169324505],17]

I can tell you my experience : I usually transfer only twice per year the money from Europe, less than what is written on my embassy declaration but a bit more than 800k. I have the impression that they like to see that I have an account with some mouvements and that I am using it for living, I do not think they are checking the total transferred per year. Never had any problem.

This looks updated (at least until last March, when I got my last extension): http://piv-phuket.com/long-stay-extensions/retirement/ Of course the form TM-6, if you have not received it when entering, is not anymore required. Probably you will have to sign an additional generic form that you can find at the Immigration about the limits of the visa and your responsibilities.

Many thanks for the answers. Right now I found something that instills new doubts, from the Q/A section of Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs site ( https://www.mfa.go.th/en/page/questions-answers-on-thai-visa?menu=5e1ff766aff2fd002e364373 ) : Q: I would like to go to Thailand for vacation for 2 weeks. I hold American passport. Do I need a visa? A: Nationals of the United States of America and 41 other countries are eligible to travel to Thailand, for tourism purpose, with the exemption of visa and are permitted to stay in the Kingdom for a period of not exceeding 30 days. Therefore, you do not need a visa. However, please make sure that you are in possession of a passport valid for at least 6 months, a round-trip air ticket, and adequate finances equivalent to at least 10,000 Baht per person or 20,000 Baht per family. Otherwise, you may be inconvenienced upon entry into the country. ?? ????

My nephews will come to Thailand with Visa exemption (italian passport). Do they need to have a passport validity of six months after entering (or leaving) Thailand or the six months rule is applicable only for Visa ? And, to recall the requirements for visa exemption entry, they will need : - flight ticket for return before 30 (or 45 from 1st October) days - Money in cash, or a credit card is acceptable ? - The equivalent of 20.000 baht for a family of five is correct ? - Of course vaccination certificate or test certificate Am i forgetting something? Many thanks

I have been recently operated for BPH in Europe with Holep, and coming back soon to Thailand. Probably I will need some follow up while in Thailand, so I am asking if anybody has a direct experience with hospital/urologist familiar with this technique in Thailand or, better, in Phuket. I know that if I ask the private hospitals in Phuket they will tell me that they are familiar with Holep, but I prefer to hear direct information from patients, not from doctors ..... Many thanks
