  1. Buy one of those 2 wheel Carts they tow behind a motorbike.

Load the Beer and your MC in the Cart.

Open the rear boot or hatch and have MIL put the wrap around handle of the cart over her lap as a second safety belt.

The cart, bike and beer will be pulled along as you drive  Problem solved

But be careful of stopping or turning quickly :o

Seriousely; The Fiesta is big enough to tow a small bike the way you are looking at doing it, or with a small light trailer.

There should be a way to configure a tow hitch receiver to attach to the frame somewhere. Even on a Fiesta. Bolt or weld the receiver to the frame.

Search tow hitch receivers for some pics. I couldn't get one to load here for you.

  2. It may be a moot idea for me. After a cursory look, it does not look like there is any way to attach a receiver/hitch to my 2010 Fiesta. Oh well.:o

You can have a Class III Hitch Receiver attached to the Frame. But a Fiesta is a little bit small for towing. Nice car and good engineering, but not for towing.

Get a pick up truck and both the MIL and bike can ride in the back B)

  3. is this what youre looking for??

    http://www.motorcycl...k.com/MFWT.html

    should cost less than 2,500thb

I doubt less than 2,500 due to needing a way to connect the device to a Thai vehicle without a tow receiver.

Ask Kandahar if he can build you something similar.

He and his Misses are marketing a lot of Motorcycle type accessories, and he is a dam_n good metal worker. Builds about anything and is quality.

Doubt your vehicle has a tow hitch receiver here in Thialand, so would need to construct something to adapt to your vehicle in a similar fashion.

Kandahar is your man in this department. :D

  4. You're not gone yet? You're not back yet? What happened to the "one week" plan? Why is this thread three pages long and was started in July? Did we just go through a time warp? What the hell is going on???

    Hello?!?!?!?

    HELLOOOO?!?!?!?!??!

I told already I wanted to go around this time... but maybe I have Alzheimer :)

To the rest: I trust my gps, if I make mistakes.... soo what?

I will report back to you ok?

CMJANTJE "Posted 2010-07-12 14:08 Hi, I want to go to Pattaya for a week with the missis. I don't want to drive in one day... these days I could and did are far behind me.

Can someone give me some idea where to overnight?"

    Alzheimers for sure

Good luck on your trip when you depend on Thai GPS :whistling:

Be sure to say hello to the Touts around walking street and the shows B) Ka Ching

They will have some good directions and info around Pattaya Town for ya :jap:

  5. Aaia Hiwghway to Ring Road 9 is difficult, but slow down and watch carefully for the signs. Take the Ring Road to Hwy 7 to Pattaya. I drive it in about 10-12 hours via the Asia Highway route.

Nakorn Chai Air VIP bus Chiang Rai new bus terminal overnight sleeper full reclining seats is 779 per person each way. 13 hour trip to Pattaya. Get off at their Pattaya bus station on Sukhuvit hwy and Central Pattaya road. Cross the road to Central Pattaya dnd get on a 10 baht Baht Bus (pick up taxi).

Beats the price of flying, then Taxi or Bus to Pattaya, then another taxi from Pattaya bus station to your hotel.

airfare about 2,000 each way, Taxi 1,300, or vip bus BKK to Pattaya 200, taxi from bus station to hotel 100.

3,300 Air + Taxi. approx 6 1/2 hours travel time.

2,300 Air + bus + taxi. approx 7 1/2 hours travel time plus bus availability and wait time.

779 VIP bus Chiang Rai to Pattaya and Baht taxi 10 baht = 789. 13 hours.

Check out the newer Live entertainment bar on Beach Road and Soi 8

Or the We are the World Bar Beach Road between Soi 7 &8 (live entertainment.

Both are relatively inexpensive for Pattaya. Beers about 50 baht.

Also the Pattaya Beer Garden on the pier overlooking the water just before walking street. Nice atmosphere, music, not pushy and not expensive.

Always ask how much before you buy in Pattaya.

  6. Did not see until now that this is an old post.

Nakon Sawan is the best bet if you want to split up the trip into two days. Take the Asian Hwy south thru Lamphang (two lanes each direction). This is the best and quickest road with most services.

Do not go thru Prae, and Pitsonolok (single lane winding roads with limited passing space).

There are many roadside decent hotels on the main highway in Nakok Sawan City. Just keep your eyes open for one that appeals to you.

When you get just south of Autiya, take the complicated way to the tollway that will connect you directly past the new airport Nd onward to Pattaya (sorry forgot the numbers of these tollways). Your total drive time whould be about 12 hours from Chiang Rai to Pattaya.

  7. The Topic was about Chiang Rai Bars only. Not about the BIB (boys in brown) in general. I as most, do not have any real problems about the BIB. Just pointing out an obvious inequity of bar times. The early closures have drastically increased the last 3 years.

But it is understood that TIT.

Don't try to guess a topic poster's time in the LOS by the amount of posts. Many expts do not blog here.

  8. Money in a Joint account with both your names

This is Thailand.......... You will lose. All she has to do is withdraw the money from the account and you are up the creek without a paddle

Wake up and smell the coffee. Undoubtibly she has taken a few guys for a ride to have a house, car with mortgage etc etc etc.

  9. Forget about her. She is nothing but a Gold Digger. She probably has lots of Thai Suiters that have been helping to support her.

If a Thai friend says get out, then he knows things you could never know.

Even if you speak Thai, you can't know it all. Especially here in Thailand.

If you go thru with a relationship with this elderly woman, you will end up being alone and not taken care of while she is off "Working" :whistling:

It is far better to just rent than to buy into marriage at the rate she expects.

That thing down ther of her's aint worth that kind of gold :o

Lots of fish in the sea. You found the Shark :ermm:

  10. I love dogs. All dogs. But always keep in mind that our K-9 friends are K-9 and are instinctive.

Any dog can be provoked if they are annoyed in their own way. One never knows what will be the trigger mechanism to set a dog off.

A Rottweiler can be a very good pet and friend, just as any dog.

But the owner must always keep in mind that the dog can be triggered by a known or unknown stimulus and therefore attack.

Rottweilers are big, friendly, but very strong. They don't intend to do harm, but sometimes they do not know their own strength verses a person.

I had a great (un-neutered male) Rottweiler many years ago that turned on me. I was wrong to try to stop a fight between my Rottweiler and old, half lame German Sheppard. Luckily I was not seriously injured or killed. I only got in the midle and tried to seperate them. I did not kick or hit my dog. I was trying to pull him off. I was wrong in the dog's mind and he turned on me.

That incident was the start of my Rottweiler becoming aggressive toward people. He had to be put down to sleep (euthenized) due to this change in temperment.

It is unfortunate, but an owner of a big dog like this needs to be always aware and protect the family and visitors.

Owners of Rottwielers, Dobermans, Pit Bulls, Sheppards need to be aware of the dangers and be responsible.

Happy Dog Owning. They are great companions. Just be aware.

  11. Best to get both Big and Small Charcoal pieces. Stoked in virtually every market area. Just have to ask around. Is cheaper in the outlying villages, as locals use it daily for cooking.

Let us know when you have scrumptious BBQ Pork Ribs on offer. CAjun style or traditional BBQ ?

  12. China Town ? Is that anywhere near Soi Muslim ?

The area West from the soi of the New and Old Clock Towers. South of the Day Market, and North of the New Clock Tower and the Schools. There is a Islam Mosque in that area.

The place I refer to as China Town is decorated in Red and Gold with quite a bit of Chinese style signage, and lots of people with Chinese type features.

But then again, I'm a farong :jap:

  13. I was impressed with the Atmosphere, Archetecture, and Furnishings of the Teak House.

Appears to be owned and operated by Thai's with a good knowledge of Western Foods.

I thought it was comfortable and the food was good.

I would go back and try more of their menu when I am in that area and feeling hungry. :D

  14. "Ah ha. So it was the 2.00 a.m. post after all. Happy to hear you have settled down. So, CR is a fine little town after all, isn't it?

If you don't wake up until the sun is going down, you wouldn't be able to make it to the potluck. However, if you find yourself getting up early on that day, come join us. You're likely to meet a whole slew of the posters from this forum and I haven't met a bad one yet. Except me."

Couldn't resist replying with the Vampire type response

A vampire can still enjoy sunrise and sunsets B)

I'll see if Igore can leave my cave unlocked the day of the Potluck.

  15. Welcome to the forum anyway, we occasionally get "nightlife" inquiries from intending visitors but must of us here are stay-at-home old married men. (Including lannaman, don't let him tell you different!)

You can be our resident expert in this department. B)

Ahhh Yes. Think I know this Wine loving married man. That is why I found the reply so HILLARIOUS

Maybe Mr L would be happy if I quit frequenting a particular bar :o or the many places that I do encounter him :D

This topic brought out some funny replies from some known souls.

Wine Loving and married too. Should be a law against it.

Chiang Rai is a small town Taco, seems most of us know most of us on here.

We had a thread on it a few weeks ago.

I bet you know Sunny Delight, I'm still not convinced your not the same person :D

Don't insult Sunny Delight comparing him to me. I heard he is a more "Handsome Man" than me.

Not one in the same , or even related (I don't think) :)

  16. You seem to think you know us all?

Sometimes it's good fun trying to put board names to faces around town but I've found the people I do meet seldom match my mental image of them.

I never claimed to know all. But I do know a COUPLE of the members that replied. That is why I made the comment that I found it funny knowing who some of them are. B)

  17. As an alternative to the usual flop houses of local hotels, Try LEK House guest house and hotel. Go west from the clock tower (toward Chiang Rai Condo's and Rico's), about a half kilometer past the first traffic light. On the left side just before the 2nd traffic light. 5-10 minute walk to the center of town. Close to the Day Market and China Town. Less than 1 kilo from the center of town.

Swimming pool, bar and restaurant, A/C or non A/C, cable and UBC TV Free Wi-Fi Internet. Run by a great lady named Guitar (pronounced Kittha) married to a nice Dutch Man named Mike.

Rooms about 500 winter months. Ask them about longer stay discounts. They even have a Room with a Jacuzzi Tub.

    http://www.smilingla...ouse/index.html

Or try the Sportsman Hotel near the Old Airport. Or the Sportsman's sister properties at the intersection. About 500 baht average for hotel room. Nice value and clean with amenities. Sportsman and tsimilar hotels are about 2 kilometers from town and a bit of a walk. If you have transportation, or take a tuk tuk it is not far.

    That's what I call that area. :D

  18. Just tried the new "Teak House" Restaurant. Located opposite the Cosmo Station North of Mae Fa Luang University on the main Super Highway.

Nice selection of western and thai food. They have steaks, burgers, itallian, and various other western dishes.

Thai food was good and inexpensive. Nice atmosphere. Coffee, a few pastries, and ice cream type deserts.

The steak I had (local beef) was not bad. Need to try more of their selections.

They also have NZ beef and Salmon on offer.

    Quite extensive western food menu.

Anyone tried the other New Steak House and Coffee shop on the North bound lanes of the same highway near the PTT / 7-11 north of Mae Fa Luang ? (Yellow Building and Pink Windmill out front)
