  1. For the past two years I have used a laundry service operated by Sopha Thavonr and her family. She picks up and delivers--and does a beautiful job with the ironing. Sopha also speaks English fluently, although she doesn't read or write it. Give her a call at 0817960210. She's a valuable resource on many fronts for a newcomer to Chiang Mai. Say that Monte recommended her...

Incidentally, I give her a thousand baht in advance, and she charges against that deposit. That way, she can drop off laundry without having to collect money each time--and I don't have to hang around to pay her following each delivery. Her accounting is always meticulous.

Where is this laundry located please ??

  2. Let Kobkarn travel undercover and let him visit Samui and Phangan as well so he can witness the mafia type structures who are running the local transport and other tourist related businesses first hand.

In the mid 90's the locals on the islands were a bunch of friendly fellows. That has changed and is getting worse every year.

  3. How about an on topic reply for a change ??

An institution for all kinds of chicken on rice dishes and moo daeng as well. Spotless clean too.

On Kaeo nawarat road heading towards Arcade bus station turn right just opposite where the saturday fleamarket is. The Place is on the left after 50 meters.

And around the corner back on the main road are a few good restos too.Just before McCormick. All under 50.

I was up at Monjam yesterday.  Beautiful area.  You can rent little cabins, tents or a proper guest house.  The prices are higher but you'll have spectacular views.  I guess you can probably find a van or something that goes there.  We always take the scooters.  Right now it is rainy but I think mainly in the afternoon.  I actually want to try it out during a rain storm.  Would love to watch that from a mountain top.

    Monjam? Where's that?

about 90 minutes, more or less north of CM.  At the top of a mountain.  Here is a map link.  http://goo.gl/maps/XlK5Z  Spelling can vary.  MonCham, Monjam, Mon Cham etc.

Nice map feature thanks. And not far from town too.

  5. Tesco lotus has it for sure. I have 1 in the car all the time.

Make sure you take out all the remaining air of the tire fist otherwise it will blow up ( explode ).

After repair you still need to get the tire fixed because the solution will only hold for a few day's.

    Good luck

    Cheers gonna go there tomorrow

  6. Do you mean the aerosol can with connector to tyre,so if you

get a flat in the middle of nowhere, you can connect the can,it

will blow up tyre, and whatever stuff is inside will also fix the

    puncture?

if so i have seen them in Big C, or you could try car accessories

    shops.

    regards Worgeordie

That's what I mean. Went to Big C, they don't have it.

  7. Yes the market in the Festival Mall is excellent, a joint venture between Tops and UK supermarket Waitrose it has a huge selection of European goods. I shopped at Rimping for years but the Festival Market has a better selection and it is also significantly cheaper, especially for cheese, and they even have Kellogs Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

Went there yesterday and checked out some items I normally buy at Rimping or Makro. All more expensive and you can't just park right in front of the store on a motorbike. Its quite a walk from the two wheel parking area to the supermarket. Will not go again. Noticed only very few other customers in there too.
