  1. Just a question instead of opening a new thread, is it possible to get on a public boat/ ship like those you get at bali hai to Koh Phai?

  2. Suthep also criticised the government's slowness in setting up mobile kitchens to help flood-affected Bangkokians and warned that the food provided should meet certain standards. "The food must be of good quality. Bangkok people are picky about what they eat, they are not beggars."
I agree in general the spirit behind his (Suthep's) speech except labeling Bangkokians more superior than the rest, food must reach safe standards for consumption - that's for sure. Secondly I think the Bangkok Governor has the most credit for protecting Bangkok, say what they will but he is the only reliable source of information when everything is blurry from the FROG©, in general PT needs a better leader and some new blood to replace irrational MP like Jirayu and minus away the Shinawatra factor.
  3. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration submitted its 11-point proposal in writing to the government's Flood Relief Operations Centre (FROC), calling for urgent decision.

The proposal called on the government to order the Royal Irrigation Department, which is overseen by a minister from the coalition Chart Thai Pattana Party, to ensure all the working pumps at the key sluice gates at Canal 13 and Nong Chok be switched on to help with the movement of water towards the sea.

The BMA also called for the opening of watergates in canals between Ayutthaya and Pathum Thani in order to reduce and divert the water pressure from Rapipat Canal 1 above Bangkok, and to keep the sluice gate at Rangsit Canal 1 closed to prevent more water flowing into the city.

The government was also urged to order urgent repair of the damaged sluice gates, which are important to protect Bangkok from severe flooding.

There were no reports about the government response to the BMA proposal.

  4. For an area that is supposed to be elevated Don Muaeng, I am surprised that we have gotten so much water so quickly! There was no flooding here in 95! Water levels have remained the same here all day.

Kinda surprised too but it just illustrates how much water is out there waiting and the fact that the ground was completely saturated before it breached the Klong bra pa levy......

One must remember the water comes from North, it has to go through somewhere and I think if there's no barrier up North Bangkok - it will not 'over flow' into Don Muang. There's a very complicated canal, drainage system and they can close some "gates" to facilitate the water elsewhere.
