  1. A one bedroom will be expensive in that area, if you are willing to learn to take the bus - you can consider:

    1. I know the Saphan Kwai area very well and go to the Karaoke bars there too often, used to work beside Big C Saphan Kwai.. I don't think there's any affordable one bedrooms. The closest i can think of is the LPN condo - 10-12k for a tiny tiny studio but they have a in-house gym, swimming pool and you can get pre-paid broadband internet (alas it's not available if you're too far away from the modem, i suspect you will need to get broadband service outside) Lots of foreigners here, close to Big C Saphan kwai.

    2. http://www.thaiapart...?projectid=2732 it has a swimming pool, close to Major Ratchayothin which houses the California WOW chain of gyms. There're lots of foreigners/ english teachers in this building although i don't think they bother to make friends/ interact. There's a Big C shop, 7-11 opposite the street which is quiet, peaceful :-)

I stayed there for my first year in bangkok and i move upwards into the suburbs now - a One bedroom apartment 40Sqm, 6,000B rent, no foreigner neighbors, central area to Fitness First chain of gym - Rangsit, Fashion island and Chaeng wattana - all within 20 minutes of minivan/ bus rides if there're no traffic. There's a government sports complex close to my apartment where there's a gym, swimming pool, badminton court etc. I don't recommend my location due to the awkward soi that one have to walk in with dogs threatening to bite (never does) - at every chance they get.

    hope it helps :-)

  2. I'm getting it this weekend, i think the cheapest is at MBK or any of the local stores (those that don't list the fees).. walk around a-bit you should find it at 17,900baht (sometimes 17,500baht).

  3. I'll be happy to spend some time with you guys at no fee. Although I can't say I can introduce the sites properly or etc., but I know lots of the sites pretty well and I'm not a tour guide. It's just going to be great if I can use English here more.

If you do find a guide, I'll be okay to give an extra hands.

I'm not from weird companies or have any agenda, don't worry. A meal or two will be more then enough :-)

I can't say I own a car though if that's needed as well.

    PM me :-)

  4. is it fat or is it loose skin? if the latter then not much will get rid of it once the skin has been stretched out over a long period apart from surgery ime:(

The skin doesn't look particularly loose at the moment, though it's not especially tight- but if you took the fat out from underneath it, would it look loose? I don't know. Probably a cosmetic surgeon would.

(I am somewhat fearful that they would be like the woman who threaded my eyebrows- "Are you suuuure you don't want to get your love handles done? Really?" There are few things about my body that bother me much at all, and I'd rather not have someone try to create new ones.)

Hello Nephron, if you take out the fats from underneath the skin - it may be loose. If you're young, the skin's elasticity may heal itself or you can start to be really active to tone that area. Tummy tuck may done with or without liposuction.
  5. I was threatened by the Tourist police before. A real tourist police officer forced me to go into a weird looking room, print all ten of my fingers on a document, took mugshots and was ready to throw me to jail if I obliged in signing the thai written confession. He refuses to explain anything in English to me claiming I can understand Thai perfectly because I speak some broken Thai?! He wants me to give him my ATM card so he can withdraw money to return this guy but I am not guilty! Luckily my friend's friend is a police officer from the phaholyothin branch - who did a physical visit to the 'crime of scene' whom this thai person claimed I stole "all" his gold - One Baht worth (about 14,000Baht at that time), yes - there was 1 baht of Gold in his room under his bed.

What will happen if the Thai person is lying about losing the gold?

My friend's friend - the police officer was a little unhappy and spoke to that tourist police in private for a while. He (not the tourist police) actually bought me supper that day :-/

I read later on Thaivisa that Tourist police do not actually have much rights - so I think this must had been a plan to get my atm card and clear me out.

  6. To Richard: Thank you very much. I think it has the answers to what I need, I will rather go for the test then attend classes. I'm sure I will pass though if I go for the lessons. I'm not American so I don't get much of the Social Studies.

To JustaPhrase: Yes. It's what I'm interested in - there's some places that accept students on a case-by-case basis on their working experience or etc. (I remember reading some programmes from Australian or UK university)

The story: I am a permanent resident of this particular country where it's compulsory to serve the military but I didn't want to be their citizen at all, so i got out of the country (effectively AWOL from military law) and it'll be a small problem for me to get back there to get all the transcript and etc. Other then mathematics & Social Studies which I may have a problem - I should pass the test pretty well. Are there any other options?

  7. I am assuming you are talking about attending a school rather than teaching at one?

If that is the case, do you have a copy of your degree or of your transcript? If it's an American University there is a clearinghouse that can verify it, if they are listed with the National Clearinghouse. The new University would have your old records and could verify your degree.

I am not sure which University has the most relaxed standards, but the private universities are a bit more likely to want to have paying students.

I'm wanting to attend University. Yes :-) I lost the certificates etc., and I had a name change earlier with a nationality conversion (not to Thai nationality though) so everything I need is very complicating and time consuming, I would rather look for a university that do a entrance exam.

I'm hoping to find 1 with relaxed requirements and, I shall try the private universities to see if I can qualify. Thank you.

  8. I'd lost my college papers and, the school I attended has now merged with another school.. it's going to be a hassle to get all of it anyways.I'm wonderin if there're any university in Bangkok that have a more relaxed criteria such as working experience, age etc. for their bachelor/ master international programmes?I hope I'm posting in the right thread. It's the most 'education' thread I can think of.
