  1. 12k and I give you the job

unless you are a company, paying tax to the assistant etc. 12k is not realistic at all especially if you want him to speak good english but my

    recommendation is:

    should be at least 15k,

    office hours (only)

over time to be paid too

if your assistant is required to be outdoor a-lot, unless the job allows the assistant to get tip - you will need to up the pay again.

if you don't need the assistant to be clever and is on a budget, find a bar girl.

    good luck :-)

  2. Hello,

I am looking for a electric device with 2 (or several) sticky patches that massage/ stimulate the affected area. In this case to manage pain (suggested by physiotherapist) and am hoping to find them asap... in Bangkok area.

Please give me information if you know of any good brands/ device/ selling at which location.

    Sincerest,

  3. I did a visa run today and i have done it many times myself going in and out of cambodia. There are many 'runners' who will get your passport (including their borders official policemen) stamped on your behalf at 300b. It would be 200b at the arrival on cambodia side.

Today i arrived with an upset stomach, desperately needing the toilet - make the mistake of letting the borders police running to get the stamps for me. To cut the story short, when i went back wanting to collect the passport... they say they don't do viaa runs like that (the very same person who took my passport) but says that my face is 'familiar' and thinks my passport is the one missing at the police station.. he offered to get it back at 5000b, i took the offer because my most important document is with them. Got it back in the end, i hope everyone will not be tempted by letting anyone runs your visa for you.

  4. I am using the 3BB Indy 5Mb (or 6Mb?) plan at Bangkok, Saphan Mai. Since 5-6 days ago I am having lots of problem trying to surf the net, apparently the Yahoo messenger (or Bit-Torrent client) is working but all the browsers on 5 different devices don't work. It's either 1, internet connection interupted. 2, cannot find web page etc.

The technician came and changed the router/ port (below the block or somewhere outside), internet works fine after. Now after a day the problem is back.

The technician says that 3BB has a rule that if anything is downloaded over 400Gb etc. (don't remember exactly the amount mentioned) over a certain period of time - internet will be blocked. I don't think I downloaded this much to begin with which makes me think he said 40Gb.

Is anyone having the same problem and have any solutions?

  5. Not really - not at any reputable company anyway. As it is their reputation on the line with the clients being led, they will want an experienced, professional tour guide leading them round. So they will always look for proof of past experience and/or proper qualifications - I doubt the OP would just be able to turn up at a tour company's office and expect to be given work on the spot without any of this supporting evidence.

As with EMzyme said above, there are many teachers teaching in Thailand without license or work permit (I personally know a few). It is true that it's not legal and will only be a 'part-time' rather than a full time position thus everything is under the table. As with the teaching job - there is always a demand and so no lack of positions.

I did walk into a company, asked for a job and was about to be given one - their request is for me to follow 2-3 group tours to understand the work-flow and system. They did test me on my understanding on local attractions, cultures and thai language ability - I passed. I wanted to follow one of their tours but unfortunately the working guides are not really interested bring a rookie around so I'm here asking if anyone know of someone who may help me.

  6. An update:

I learnt a-lot more about the job etc. yes it is illegal and the foreigner cannot work as a tour guide but one can be a "group leader".

Actually if one reasons - the group leader and the tour guide job is indeed different when it comes to managing a group (The leader 'manage' and the tour guide guides) but the leader often has to take over the introduction of the attractions because they speak better (language) and overshadows the thai guide in the majority of the case.

If anyone knows of a tour guide/ "group leader" (who manage big groups of tourist *from asian country, taiwan/ china/ singapore/ malaysia), can you please introduce him/ her to me - I would like to explore the possibility of following one of their tours and see how the workflow is. (PM me if possible)

Personally I don't see the difference between a 'leader' and the 'tour guide' but it does put one out of legal issues. the job specifications are blurred. :-/

    Kind Thoughts,

  7. If you are paying to the condo's management, I think it's fair if you are using aircon every day or so. Mine (6B a unit) at a 40Sqm Condo is 2,000 - 2,500B a month.

    Once I start paying myself at 7-11 when I moved, it's only 1,200 - 1,500B.
