six measures and not a single one is aimed at crop burning

congrats to the BiB, you have met expectations, again.

    Yah think?:

"4 Coordinate with related agencies in enforcing laws against industrial factories that cause air pollution as well as those who illegally burn garbage, forests and crop fields."

There must be a lot of legal burning going on.  /sarc

  2. I'm getting a bad feeling about this from the Aviate, Navigate, Communicate priorities aspect.

An LA Times article stated that the LAPD decided not to fly their choppers that morning as did the LA County Sheriff's Department - both due to substandard flying conditions. Juan Browne (YouTube blancoliero) has something to say about this, below.

Today I and a lot of people here in Phrae would be very happy with one-five-five...

Some private pics from this morning.

Well, I guess 155 is better than 354, which is what I'm seeing on RTAQ right now. But 155 is still unhealthy!

Anyway, I got the Lat/Lon of Phrae and went to the NASA FIRMS (Fire Information Resource Management System) site and saw that it is in an area where there so many fires that it looks like what the Australian bush fires must have looked like (or maybe still look). Maybe you should call Coulson Aviation and get air tankers in to take care of the fires (or least scare the arsonist-growers)?

I was so very happy last night with reading of 50AQI in bangkok, but I'm revolted again....

Right now the general situation in Bangkok is "Moderate/Yellow". You don't seem to understand that there are "outlier" sensors the readings of which are to be ignored in lieu of considering the majority of the sensors. Some sensors may have failed or be in an unusual, local situation. So, don't worry. Be Happy and wear a mask just in case! ????

    Phrae today   09:19                        10:28

Break.  -  I think it might be the western winds?

Up North its bad at night and most of the day, becomes better only in the afternoon.

You might have a look at the ChiamgRai-Forum.

A bit higher? The Max PM2.5 is shown as 375 around 9 AM!

DNA evidence? how did they have his DNA on file and know where to find him exactly?

Maybe the DNA proves that he was present at the crime scene, other evidence or

investigations or informants may have led to his arrest.

I would think that the gun, his shoes, his limp and general description were major factors. I believe he was probably turned in by someone who knew him and who had put enough together to "rat him out" (so to speak).

    Was there a reward I wonder? ????

  7. Article:

"Another took aim as people going without masks for not taking the outbreak seriously.

“So ignorant, so fearless, so arrogant,” another user said."

Yeah, just like most of the people in Bangkok when air pollution has been at "unheathy/red" level for most of the last two days.

The medical surgical masks worn by most (probably due to their lower cost) are not as effective against viruses (or air pollution) as the N95 or, better yet, the N100 respirator type masks that are more expensive.

They should rename the "House of Representatives" to the "House of Delusions and Impeachment". Or the "House of Trump Derangement Syndrome". Or "Pelosi's Psychotic Playground".

Historians will not remember this psychotic phase of the U.S. so-called "Representative" Republic under a Constitution favorably except as representative of the drug-addiction of many Americans.

So you dont think congress should do its vonstirutiinal duty to investigate. Got it.

Yuh, its "vonstirutiinal" duty. Good one, dude!  :stoner:

Keep in mind this is Trump’s first impeachment.

Congress are still actively seeking access to evidence and witnesses that may well lead to a second impeachment.

AQI Level 999 deserves something more dramatic than a simple "Hazardous". Like: "Don't Breathe" or "Run for you Life" or "Put on an OBA (Oxygen Breathing Apparatus)" or "You're About to Die" or "Check/Replace Your PM2.5 Sensor (You're Freaking Everyone Out)". ????

I have a great idea. Instead of you encouraging people to avoid going outdoors, because of the airpocalype that you, and your astonishingly incompetent administration have helped to create, and are doing nothing to prevent, how about if you increase your activity on behalf of the Thai people, and the ex-pats living here? How about some pro-active activity for a change?

    A few suggestions:

    1. Govern the nation fairly. Stop protecting the elite, the crooked cops, and those in power, at all costs.

    2. Govern effectively. Learn how to run an economy.

    3. Start appointing people based on merit and not cronyism.

    4. Allow political demonstrations as all democracies do. You claim to be a democracy. Right?

    5. Stop hassling rival parties who are popular with the people. You are despised and disliked. Of course the rivals are popular.

    6. Engage in proactive policy, to tackle the heinous pollution issues, and allow people to lead healthy lives, through smart and forward leaning policy.

    7. Tackle water management, and the development of alternative energy.

    8. Establish an exit plan. The people do not like, or respect the army. They are utterly useless.

    9. Abolish the antiquated luxury taxes on products and imported wine. Allow your economy to grow without draconian limitations. You would then be able to attract the wealthy tourists you claim to be seeking. And please stop decimating the tourism sector with your incessant ranting about the evils of Westerners and your inane immigration policy.

    10. Start building the nation. You are moving it backwards at an astonishing pace through your hubris and incompetence.

    Shall I go on?

No. You can awaken now but try to stay indoors. ????

Bangkok is only "very unhealthy" for short periods during the year, and is rarely "hazardous"; Chiang Mai and other Thai cities get it worse.  And at least Thailand is better than most cities in China and India.

Yes, but I have my own standards.. Bangkok is rarely "Good/Green". It's usually at "Moderate/yellow" or above. I consider any level of air pollution above the WHO standard (PM2. 5 not exceed 10 μg/m3 annual mean, or 25 μg/m3 24-hour mean) to be unacceptable. This WHO standard is cited in my comment in another thread HERE.

I have changed my lifestyle and living spaces and upgraded my equipment to try to keep my personal level at or below 5 μg/m3 most of the time, outdoors or indoors (1/2 the WHO guideline). A spinoff of this effort may have contributed to the fact that my incidences of seemingly regular, like clockwork colds (every six months) has been reduced to zero over the past three years.

We shouldn't live in a country (or world) where it's necessary for children to wear such things. But unfortunately, we do. And the current government here seems to not care a whit about it.

They want to complain about the expense they incur in the medical field for uninsured farang hospital bills. How about the collective and long-term medical expense of much of the Thai population breathing in polluted air throughout their lives?

The uninsured farang part probably pales in comparison. But that's the issue they're all hot and bothered about -- not the fact that they're slowly killing their own people bit by bit.

"... --not the fact that they're slowly killing their own people bit by bit."

I agree with the vein of your post with one major exception. I would have worded the above sentence fragment as such:

... --not the fact that they're slowly killing their own people themselves bit by bit.

My position is that I'm going to resist letting them take me with them w/r their essentially suicidal lifestyle. Sure, some things are beyond the control of the Thai and farang individuals, but many things are not.

Discussion of this is, perhaps, beyond the scope of this thread, but the individual decisions not to wear effective anti-pollution masks and to be willfully ignorant of the high levels of pollution in Bangkok are, IMHO, not.
