Bring a medical summary with you from your doctor. They only consider DBS for patients for whom medication alone is no longer working, or who have intolerable side effects from the meds
T save time, in case you would nto be a candidate for DBS, I suggets you see this senior Chula doctor privately for a consultation
https://www.medparkhospital.com/en/doctor/prof-dr-roongroj-bhidayasiri
https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Roongroj-Bhidayasiri
If he thinks you are possibly a candidate for DBS can then discuss with him the process for doing it at Chula (there may be a log wait list)
Regarding India, I can't say re cost or ease of getting DBS but doctor to contact is
Dr. Prashanth L. Kukkle, Center for Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders Clinic, Vikram Hospitals, Bangalore 560052, India; E-mail: [email protected]
Yeah Cheryl.
Thank you so much for this information which by chance has been confirmed by pharmacist friend, whose father has had long-term Parkinson’s and knows Dr Roongrod.
I have made the clear decision in the last day or two to try for this operation and will crack on with the all speed. Wish me luck!
It is nice to see you still doing the wonderful work you do.
Merry Christmas to you and yours

I have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s for six years.
Obviously, I had some interest in deep brain stimulation, but I thought it was reserved for those who had had Parkinson’s much longer. Yesterday, a friend sent this serious of YouTube videos and the subject of the documentary who has her operation under the NHS. It turned out had Parkinson’s also for six years.
And my symptoms are not the same as hers but I did have one of the surgeons saying a good reason for having DBS is if the medication’s are working very sporadically. I am switched off a lot of the time and when I take my meds, it can take more than two hours for them to start working.
I do not shake much, but I shuffle when I’m off with steps of just a few inches. Food gets lodged in my throat. I have no sense of smell. I can’t type when I am even a little bit off. [hence why am dictating this? I’m sorry if it’s not too accurate] when I am off I can’t turn from one side to the other in bed in bed and an often cannot get out of bed. I can’t turn from one side to the other in bed in bed and an often cannot get out of bed. This will give some idea I write this. I merely to give some idea of the importance an operation could have.
I have no insurance, so I would have to pay from my savings.
He could anyone, notably, Cheryl, or anyone who has been through the same journey, put me in the right direction to have this done in Thailand.? is India a worthwhile option?
Thanks in advance.

Hi
age71
A couple years ago I had atrial fibrillation.
It all worked out OK but jolted me to write a will.
We wrote it but it is not completed like signatures etc
A friend kindly used his will as a boilerplate for mine as i was in hospital.
I would like to get the details right.
I;ve done a search but cant find any guide on Thaivisa
Is there such a guide here hidden away/?
Thanks kindly

It is a legal requirement for the building to be surveyed by a qualified surveyor yearly.
Previous surveys should be available

Another question:
I’ve read one shouldn’t mix statins with grapefruit
I love to eat Som-O (pomelo?)
It is definitely similar to grapefruit… I would hate to give it Up we have two trees in the garden most refreshing taste
What is there a specific chemical in grapefruit To avoid

I bought my my first statin yesterday.
Atorvastatin Sandoz 40mg .....bought 3 cards of 10 tabs from which I plan 40 doses per card when quartered....cost 190bt. per card at Cargo CM.
Just took the first dose.
Problem is its a coated tablet and did not quarter at all well it crumbled as I cut into the skin.
If it is coated am I even supposed to cut it? or is it supposed to go through to th intestine before digestion?
Thanks

I have an Elite Visa so i come and go as I please. I am not sure what advice you are offering regarding property prices in the present economic climate or were you just using my post to have a whinge in general? Do you live in Chiang Mai?
I have the feeling you have your head screwed on and can judge
1. Property prices here compared to elsewhere in the world
2. Healthcare quality and cost
3. Relative sophistication of cultural and social life available
4. Relative sophistication of wordly goods available
5. etc
I've owned and own condos and own a house on wife's land.
It is very well built and at a cost and with materials I couldnt think of in the west or Singapore/HK/etc.
I have so many friends, mixed and foreign couples, who have made a long term success of it it can obviously work
The dirty air is a nuisance but perfectly do-able or a good opportunity for time away. I think it will improve.
Good luck

Aren't these pools/gyms (except the Ram perhaps) precluded for the moment?
Out of interest how much is a physio/swim session at the Ram?

Looks great , all you need are a couple of lotus plants. I Retired in February and was getting ready to come back in April and spend at least a year there. then the virus struck and postponed our plans, to see how the thing played out. I wish I had not because now I am trapped in the US, and It don't look like I would be able to get there until June maybe later. , I have my brother in law cutting the grass . starting the car, and taking care of the dogs, but I am not sure how the fish pond is doing. (picture before we left)
On the bright side as soon as we heard virus we packet up and went to our Florida home , so at least we have low incident of virus in our area, the weather is nice, and we are able to walk on the beach or go kayaking at the intercontinental.
Cant wait to come back to Thailand .
Good to hear from you again.
Haha amazing how many brothers in law cut grass here!
yes we'll get some lily pads and stuff in gradually will send you a pic in a while
Stay well

I like your swing door inside your gate, I should have done the same, as soon as I am allowed to comeback (stuck in the US) I will cut a section of mine and put one in.
I dont have a motor for mine either but I had the builder bring electric to the gate.so it should be easy to do, I will also follow this tread and perhaps learn something.
The monocoque concrete fish pond you gave details for worked out well as well except we need better overflow fitting as it ........ overflows!

I’m having trouble typing text to speech but I’ll do my best
Are use Facebook on the iPad the mini iPad and looking on the photo you’ll see the notifications at the bottom right
when notifications arrive a little red flag with a number comes. When I click the number did you stir it used to show the notifications in a list.
No I just get a picture which is the beginning of some lines as in the other photo.
If I go over to my MacBook I can get notifications same as normal just fine
A secondary thing on the top of the first photo is a little messenger icon when I click this and it has a number a little red number on it nothing happens also
Any suggestions from you bright guys

190 is pretty high. High enough that most doctors would agree with treating with a statin.
Thanks Sheryl
A shame would have liked to avoid as the Parky's already gives me fatigue and discomfort.
Hmmm...

Hi Sheryl
i went to a reputable medical lab.
My DIRECT LDL came out at 190, a higher figure than the indirect (148).
I might add when he saw my figures with HDL of 59 he questioned needing a test.
How to interpret the whole thing?
Thanks

Parkinsons… Deep brain stimulation

Hello, Sheryl
I feel I should give some feedback to keep your knowledge base up-to-date.
I have discovered the Dr. Roongroj is now not accepting new patients at the Medpark and Bumrungrad..
I have made an appointment at Bumrungrad with a Dr Orapon for 20th January as the first step, and I am considering a visit to the Chivacare Clinic in CM, firstly to check out muscle/skeletal issues like hammertoes on my right foot, and as the doc there is a neurologist he may have some input on my route to DBS.
As I write, it is three hours since I took my dopamine at 9:30 and it has had, no noticeable affect.
Yesterday, even taking a dose of Madopar and re-quip together did not work and the gym was a snail,s pace.
