  2. Boris Johnson has said he will find it "very difficult" to vote for Rishi Sunak's new Brexit deal for Northern Ireland. The former prime minister said the deal was "not about the UK taking back control". It is the first time he has commented since Mr Sunak unveiled the Windsor agreement on Monday. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-64823710
  3. There is already a document about this family. I saw it quite some time ago. It centered a lot on Paul and his fatal boat accident. Both HBO and Netflix have programming.
  4. The House Ethics Committee announced Thursday it is officially moving forward with a probe into embattled Rep. George Santos as the New York Republican faces mounting legal issues and calls to resign for extensively lying about his resume and biography. The Ethics Committee said in a news release that it voted to set up an investigative subcommittee with authority to look into a number issues, including whether Santos may have engaged in unlawful activity related to his 2022 congressional campaign. According to the release, the investigative panel will have jurisdiction to determine whether Santos “may have engaged in unlawful activity with respect to his 2022 congressional campaign; failed to properly disclose required information on statements filed with the House; violated federal conflict of interest laws in connection with his role in a firm providing fiduciary services; and/or engaged in sexual misconduct towards an individual seeking employment in his congressional office.” https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/02/politics/george-santos-house-ethics-committee/index.html
  5. Alex Murdaugh found guilty of murdering his wife and son From CNN's Alta Spells and Ronnie Glassberg The jury in the double murder trial of Alex Murdaugh has found him guilty of murdering his wife and son, the grisliest and most severe of the allegations faced by the disgraced former South Carolina attorney. Murdaugh, the 54-year-old scion of a prominent and powerful family of local lawyers and solicitors, was also found guilty of two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in the killings of Margaret “Maggie” Murdaugh and Paul Murdaugh on June 7, 2021. Prosecutors have indicated they will seek life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murders, sparing him the death penalty. https://www.cnn.com/us/live-news/murdaugh-trial-closing-arguments-03-02-23/index.html
  6. Rupert Murdoch leaked confidential information to Jared Kushner about Joe Biden’s strategic moves in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election, according to a bombshell court filing by Dominion Voting Systems. The company that sells hardware and software used during elections has slapped a $1.6bn defamation lawsuit against Fox News and accused the network of airing lies and conspiracy theories about the 2020 election. Dominion opposed Fox News’s move to throw out the lawsuit in the new filing on 27 February. https://news.yahoo.com/rupert-murdoch-gave-jared-kushner-082333455.html
  7. Republican leaders of North Carolina's state legislature reached an agreement on how to expand Medicaid in the state, they said Thursday, after years of blocking the policy. Negotiations between the two chambers stalled last summer over what to include in a Medicaid expansion bill, in part because of the North Carolina Hospital Association's resistance to health care regulatory provisions included in one version of the legislation. Why it matters: If the legislation becomes law as expected, hundreds of thousands of the state's poorest residents would receive health care coverage. https://www.axios.com/local/raleigh/2023/03/02/north-carolina-republicans-reach-agreement-to-expand-medicaid
  8. The oligarch Oleg Deripaska has said Russia could run out of money by next year unless the country secures investment from “friendly” countries as western sanctions bite. Deripaska, an energy and metals tycoon who was once Russia’s richest person, told an investment conference in Siberia on Thursday: “There will be no money already next year. We will need foreign investors.” Deripaska, who is subject to UK, US and EU sanctions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, said funds are running low and “that’s why they’ve [the Russian government] already begun to shake us down”, according to a Bloomberg report. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/mar/02/russia-run-out-of-money-oleg-deripaska
  9. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans on Thursday introduced The Parents Bill of Rights, which they say would give parents more insight and power into their children's education. According to a breakdown of the bill from Rep. Julia Letlow, R-La., school districts would be publicly required to post curriculum information, provide parents with a copy of revisions to state education standards, provide parents with the list of books and reading materials available in the library and more. "You have a say in your kids' education, not government and not telling you what to do," McCarthy said in his remarks. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/house-republicans-introduce-parents-bill-rights-education-legislation/story?id=97561069
  10. Investigators took items that included knives, a cell phone, black gloves, black masks, laptops, dark-colored clothes and dark shoes, brown boots and New Balance shoes, an evidence log released Thursday shows. 12. King Charles III is learning the hard way that leaving it too late to finalize a big soiree is a bad idea. As the newly ascended British monarch prepares for his coronation on May 6, the palace is reportedly struggling to book A-list British entertainers to mark the historic event, with many citing busy schedules to explain their absence. That’s a sharp break from the last major royal celebrations in June to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, or 70 years on the throne, before she died aged 96 in September. A star-studded concert at Buckingham Palace had featured Queen + Adam Lambert, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Elton John, Craig David, Elbow, Sir Rod Stewart, Celeste, and other big names. The May 6 coronation will see Charles crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort, at Westminster Abbey. The next day, coronation lunches are due to take place in communities across Britain before an evening concert at Windsor Castle. https://sports.yahoo.com/heres-people-said-no-performing-165836215.html
  13. A review of 'Havana syndrome" by the U.S. intelligence community finds it "very unlikely" that a foreign adversary or energy weapon is the cause, officials said Wednesday. That's according to a new assessment from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released on Wednesday. Instead, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said in a statement that the events, which are referred to officially as Anomalous Health Incidents, were probably the result of other factors such as “preexisting conditions, conventional illnesses, and environmental factors.” https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/havana-syndrome-caused-foreign-adversary-us-intel/story?id=97549657
  14. The United States is seeking close allies’ support of possible new sanctions on China if Beijing provides military assistance to Russia for its war in Ukraine, according to a report by Reuters citing four US officials and other sources. Per the report, the consultations are still at a preliminary stage and are intended to drum up support from a range of countries, especially those in the wealthy Group of 7 (G7) to coordinate support for possible restrictions. It is not clear what sanctions would be imposed, according to the report. https://www.proactiveinvestors.com/companies/news/1007749/us-seeking-allies-support-for-possible-china-sanctions-over-ukraine-war-report-1007749.html

  17. The House Foreign Affairs Committee voted Wednesday to approve a bill that would give President Joe Biden the authority to ban TikTok in the United States despite objections from some lawmakers and advocates who say the measure could disrupt online speech freedoms. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told reporters on Tuesday he hasn’t read the bill yet and wouldn’t comment on it. Ultimately, it would be up to McCarthy and House GOP leadership to bring the bill to the floor, where it would be expected to pass. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/house-committee-advances-bill-giving-biden-authority-ban/story?id=97553411

  21. The origin of the coronavirus occurred in nature, most likely in bats. That is what a lot of researchers will be looking for. The closest virus found thus far is RaTG13, with a 96.2% found in bats in Yunnan Province. That is the closest known full genome match to SARS-CoV-2. That is what I am referring to. I have no idea what you are blithering on about that has anything to do with what I posted.
  22. A new Yahoo News/YouGov poll shows that after trailing for the last three months, former President Donald Trump has suddenly surged to a substantial lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a two-man matchup for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Previously, DeSantis led Trump 45% to 41% among Republican voters. Now Trump leads DeSantis 47% to 39% — a net swing of 12 percentage points in Trump’s direction since early February. The survey of 1,516 U.S. adults, which was conducted from Feb. 23 to 27, suggests that Trump could prove more resilient in 2024 than his rivals had hoped — and more difficult for someone like DeSantis to defeat. https://news.yahoo.com/2024-poll-desantis-slides-as-trump-surges-to-first-head-to-head-lead-in-months-202853093.html
