Fox News cut out comments by former President Donald Trump in which he said he would have considered letting Russia have parts of Ukraine as part of a peace deal between the nations. In an interview on Fox News host Sean Hannity's radio show on Monday, which is not broadcast by Fox, Trump revealed how he would try and broker a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine in the wake of Russia's invasion last year. Trump has claimed he can quickly bring an end to the war as he seeks election again in 2024. https://www.businessinsider.com/fox-news-cuts-trump-let-russia-have-bits-of-ukraine-2023-3

Former President Donald Trump is pondering his running mate options for another presidential run in 2024, and he is reportedly "strongly" considering former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake. Axios reported that Lake is among a short list of women being considered by the former president as he looks for a way to gain support from White suburban women needed to beat President Joe Biden in 2024. Lake is a former television news anchor who unsuccessfully ran for Arizona governor in November against Democrat Katie Hobbs. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-considering-kari-lake-2024-running-mate-report?intcmp=tw_fnc

It has to be hard at this point for King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort to ignore the protestors that greet them at their royal appearances lately. It’s something that didn’t happen very often when Queen Elizabeth II was alive, but now, things are much different with Charles in charge. It’s what Celebitchy dubbed the “new era for vocal opposition of the British monarchy.” While the U.K. media outlets only write negative headlines about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who are living in the U.S., everyone seems to be looking in the other direction about the royal family’s PR crisis. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/king-charles-iii-queen-camilla-181346852.html

Republican presidential hopefuls are vowing to wage a war on "woke," but a new USA TODAY/Ipsos Poll finds a majority of Americans are inclined to see the word as a positive attribute, not a negative one. Fifty-six percent of those surveyed say the term means "to be informed, educated on, and aware of social injustices." That includes not only three-fourths of Democrats but also more than a third of Republicans. Overall, 39% say instead that the word reflects what has become the GOP political definition, "to be overly politically correct and police others' words." https://www.yahoo.com/news/gop-war-woke-most-americans-100008176.html

According to a recent International Energy Agency (IEA) report, carbon emissions in 2022 rose by less than was feared, largely thanks to a multitude of new green energy projects worldwide. Carbon dioxide emissions worldwide increased by under 1 percent in 2022, or 321 million tonnes, lower than initially anticipated, according to the IEA. This was supported by the growth in solar and wind power, EVs, and heat pumps, as well as greater efforts at increased energy efficiency. https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/The-Impressive-Impact-Of-Clean-Energy-Projects-On-Global-Emissions-In-2022.html

Arkansas governor signs bill rolling back child labor protections
Scott posted a topic in World News
Arkansas Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed a bill into law this week that rolls back a number of child labor protections across the state, including a measure that had required employers to obtain work certificates for children under the age of 16. “The Governor believes protecting kids is most important, but this permit was an arbitrary burden on parents to get permission from the government for their child to get a job,” Sanders’ spokesperson Alexa Henning said in a statement. “All child labor laws that actually protect children still apply and we expect businesses to comply just as they are required to do now.” https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/08/politics/sarah-huckabee-sanders-arkansas-child-labor/index.html -
The Federal Reserve may need to increase the size of its interest rate hikes and raise borrowing costs to higher levels than previously projected if evidence continues to point to a robust economy and persistently high inflation, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Tuesday in prepared testimony to a Senate panel. "The latest economic data have come in stronger than expected, which suggests that the ultimate level of interest rates is likely to be higher than previously anticipated," Powell said in the testimony to the Senate Banking Committee. Powell's comments raise the possibility that the Fed will increase its key interest rate by a half-percentage point at its next meeting March 21-22, after having carried out a quarter-point hike in early February. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/federal-reserve-rate-hikes-acclerate-jerome-powell/

Fox News host Tucker Carlson said in a text message after the 2020 election that he "passionately hated" Donald Trump, according to new court filings. Mr Carlson's message to a colleague in January 2021 emerged as part of a defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems against Fox News. The electronic voting firm accuses the network of promoting baseless claims of vote-rigging in the election. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64886188

A Tennessee judge has delayed the release of 20 hours of footage showing the police beating and arrest of 29-year-old black man Tyre Nichols. The judge said the last-minute delay was due to the need to allow lawyers for five Memphis officers charged with his death to review the tapes. Mr Nichols died in January three days after being pulled over by police. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64882745

The lawsuit stems from a 2016 FBI investigation during the Obama administration over Flynn’s suspected ties to Russia. In 2017, Flynn pled guilty to lying to the FBI regarding his association with Russian contacts. Shortly after the 2020 election, the former head of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) received a pardon from Trump. “This lawsuit seeks accountability and damages against the United States for these wrongs committed against General Flynn through its agents and agencies,” reads the filing, calling his prosecution “wrongful and malicious” and a “gross abuse of process.” https://sports.yahoo.com/michael-flynn-suing-government-50-033812465.html

President Biden wants to raise taxes in an effort to boost funding for Medicare and give the program more leeway to negotiate lower costs for prescription drugs, according to details of the president's budget proposal. Biden announced the initiative, which will directly impact those making more than $400,000 in a Tuesday op-ed from the New York Times. Moments before Gov. Ron DeSantis delivered a highly publicized speech Tuesday morning touting his policy record, a Republican state legislator put forward a bill that will bring further national attention to the conservative transformation DeSantis has overseen in Florida: a proposal to ban abortion at six weeks of pregnancy. DeSantis, a likely 2024 presidential candidate, did not comment on the legislation in his “State of the State” speech. But he nodded briefly to his anti-abortion credentials, saying, “We are proud to be pro-family, and we are proud to be pro-life in the state of Florida." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/florida-republicans-propose-6-week-abortion-ban-rcna73641

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Monday said he was prepared to introduce legislation to “set the stage” for U.S. military force in Mexico, saying it was time to “get tough” on the neighboring country after four Americans were kidnapped by armed men this week. Graham told Fox News host Jesse Watters that he would follow the advice of former President Trump on Mexico policy. “I would put Mexico on notice,” Graham said. “If you continue to give safe haven to drug dealers, then you are an enemy of the United States.” https://thehill.com/policy/international/3887479-graham-says-he-will-introduce-bill-to-set-the-stage-for-us-to-use-military-force-in-mexico/

The Philippines this week said it continued to track dozens of armed Chinese fishing vessels around a disputed island in the South China Sea, part of Beijing's "gray zone" efforts to assert sweeping claims in the energy-rich waters. The now-common activity was documented over the weekend by the Philippine Coast Guard, which said 42 Chinese maritime militia vessels, accompanied by a "slowly loitering" naval and coast guard presence, were anchored neared the island of Thitu, which Manila calls Pag-asa and Beijing calls Zhongye. Beijing asserts a "historic right" over the South China Sea and all of its associated features, but its ambitious maritime and territorial claims were dismissed in 2016 by an arbitral tribunal in The Hague for contravening the 1982 U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, of which China is a signatory. China's leaders have rejected the verdict ever since, leading to tensions with the U.S., which has said it is committed to freedom of the seas. https://www.newsweek.com/china-maritime-militia-philippines-south-china-sea-thitu-pag-asa-zhongye-1786053

Foreign teachers no longer required to do an education course

And I agree with you to an extent. Experience most certainly trumps a lot. Unfortunately, it's achieved at the expense of a lot of students. This is true whether or not the person has a degree or not. The difference is the learning curve for those with a degree isn't as steep. People with a degree tend to be a little better at dealing with challenging students. -

US Capitol Police Chief Tom Manger on Tuesday ripped into Fox News host Tucker Carlson over his commentary about footage from the January 6, 2021, insurrection that he aired Monday night, saying the host “cherry-picked” from the footage to present “offensive” and “misleading” conclusions about the attack. “Last night an opinion program aired commentary that was filled with offensive and misleading conclusions about the January 6 attack,” Manger wrote in an internal department memo obtained by CNN, adding that Carlson’s show didn’t reach out to the police department “to provide accurate context.” “The program conveniently cherry-picked from the calmer moments of our 41,000 hours of video. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/07/politics/capitol-police-tucker-carlson-january-6-footage/index.html

Elon Musk publicly scoffed at a Twitter employee’s uncertainty about whether he had been laid off in a recent round of cuts and spoke dismissively of the employee’s disability in a series of tweets Monday night. It’s the latest example of the billionaire openly antagonizing his company’s current and former staffers. Haraldur Thorleifsson, an Iceland-based Twitter senior director, tweeted at Musk that access to his computer had been cut off nine days earlier, when Twitter reportedly laid off some 200 employees. https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/07/tech/elon-musk-twitter-employee-disability/index.html
