But the court ruled unanimously that she does not have the power to do so because the issue is reserved to Westminster. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-63727562

Federal appeals judges appeared skeptical Tuesday that former President Trump should have been awarded a third-party special master to review the documents stored in his Florida home as the Justice Department works to nullify the appointment. Lawyers for the DOJ and Trump appeared before a three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, the latest battleground as the Justice Department seeks to expedite its access to more than 22,000 pages of government documents stored at Mar-a-Lago. The arguments did not seem to bode well for the Trump team, with one of the judges asking amid the arguments, “What are we doing here?” https://thehill.com/policy/national-security/3747049-judges-appear-skeptical-of-trump-special-master-appointment/

The Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the way for the Internal Revenue Service to release former President Donald Trump’s tax returns to a Democratic-led House committee. The court’s move is a major loss for Trump, who has sought to shield the release of his tax returns for years and is currently under multiple investigations. There were no noted dissents. https://www.cnn.com/2022/11/22/politics/supreme-court-clears-way-for-house-to-get-trumps-taxes/index.html

Maricopa County Supervisor Bill Gates has been moved to an “undisclosed” location for protection amid safety fears over blowback linked to losers in the midterm elections in Arizona, a local Fox station reported Sunday. Deputies from the county sheriff’s office have been assigned to guard him in the wake of increasingly disturbing criticism online and in person, according to Fox 10 in Phoenix. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A decorated army veteran who tackled the shooter who killed five in a Colorado Springs gay club said he wanted to protect the close knit community inside the room. Richard Fierro, 45, was at Club Q celebrating a birthday with his wife, their daughter and her friends when he found himself one of two people who subdued the attacker armed with an AR-15 style rifle and wearing a flak vest. “I just know I got into mode, and I needed to save my family — and my family was at that time everybody in that room,” he said in a news conference outside his home on Monday. https://www.yahoo.com/news/wife-colorado-veteran-tackled-gunman-235907230.html

As Republicans take control of the House, they're gearing up to make good on their promises to investigate Hunter Biden. Now, CBS News has looked at the data of Hunter's infamous laptop that came directly from the source who said they provided it to the FBI under subpoena, and determined that it had not been doctored in any way, as some past reports have suggested. CBS News commissioned an independent forensic review of the laptop to determine its authenticity, which found that the data obtained is indeed from Hunter Biden's laptop and is real. In the past, questions were raised as to whether the files from the laptop were doctored or if additional files were added by operatives looking to frame the Biden family. https://www.rawstory.com/hunter-biden-laptop-2658728508/

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is urging President Biden to hold Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman “accountable” for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, criticizing the administration’s choice to grant immunity to the royal. “The State Department’s decision to intervene in this case undermined the ability to hold the Crown Prince accountable for his crime,” Wyden tweeted Monday. “I call on @POTUS Biden to honor his commitment to hold MBS accountable and to reexamine our relationship with the Saudis.” https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/3745124-senate-democrat-calls-on-biden-to-hold-saudi-crown-prince-accountable-after-immunity-decision/

Amy Coney Barrett's controversial Christian organization, "People of Praise," are demanding that she recuse herself from an upcoming case which could create further exemptions for businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ people on religious grounds. "The former members are part of a network of 'survivors' of the controversial charismatic group who say Barrett’s 'lifelong and continued' membership in the People of Praise make her too biased to fairly adjudicate an upcoming case that will decide whether private business owners have a right to decline services to potential clients based on their sexual orientation," reported Stephanie Kirchgaessner. "They point to Barrett’s former role on the board of Trinity Schools Inc, a private group of Christian schools that is affiliated with the People of Praise and, in effect, barred admission to children of same-sex parents from attending the school." https://www.rawstory.com/amy-coney-barrett-2658727784/?cx_testId=4&cx_testVariant=cx_undefined&cx_artPos=3&cx_experienceId=EXC93HV4HK4I#cxrecs_s
