This list includes some very nice countries that make it easy for a person wanting to immigrate.
Just use a little navigation.
http://www.immigrationdo.com/easiest-countries-for-immigration/
When I opened the link I thought...Great!...this will be interesting. I soon discovered though one would need the patients of Jove ..to stick with it (which I don't have unfortunately).
Maybe will give another go later. Thanks though.

"showing funds on deposit for the required period (last 2 respectively 3 months)"
Just wondering why for the last TWO respectively 3 months...That equals the previous 6 months...when you are only required to have it lodged for the previous 3 months ?
PS...forgot to mention...your OP will be a really great help to those who were unsure before now...Thanking you.

My only contribution to this post is that your friend who passed away ( and the Thai family) was pretty blessed to have such a good friend as yourself.
You are maybe that "One in a million"...God Bless you...

I'm in BKK at this moment. Have had my new passport for the last 6 months but was still working on my old one up until yesterday when I did my 90 day in Jomtien. He told me I would have to get my entry stamp transferred into my new passport. When I went to the counter to have this done they told me I would have to have it "confirmed" at my Embassy in BKK. Here I am after having said completed ..will head back tomorrow.
BKK is certainly a "horse of a different colour from Pattaya"...people wise I mean...far more self assured in their body language.

"I am (un)impressed by their total lack of self-esteem and overblown egos."
That statement kinda reminds me of the time I was once described by a friend as an..."Egomaniac, with a hugh inferiority complex" ???

Like everything else...Just do it... "One day at a time"...most of us can put up with anything, if it is just for one day. I recovered from Alcoholism...doing it one day at a time. Or start with one hour at a time...up to you really
PS. I never use A/C...even when it is provided in a hotel room.

Will somebody please give me an email address for where I can lodge a complaint with NakhonChai Air. It must be the world's best kept secret ...I cannot find an address anywhere. I thought I had it "cracked" when I found one...."[email protected]"....Mailer Daemon has just informed me that it couldn't be delivered...2 weeks after I sent it off. I am not prepared to give up at this stage.
Please send me a PM if you have the information.

You are nto required to have a pension. The only requirements are age 50 and over, either 800,000 in the bank or 65,000 a month coming in, both from overseas sources. They do not in the least care whether pension, interest, savings etc. just the amount and that it is brought in from abroad.
I think it is wrong to say that the 800,000 Bt. has to come in from abroad.... You could sell a condo here and use that money...not the same as money having to come in from abroad to purchase property.

You could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon retirement at immigration and if married your wife could get an extension based upon yours for being a member of your family.
You would need 800k baht in a Thai bank for 60 day for the first extension (3 months after that) or proof of 65k baht income or a combination of the 2 totaling 800k baht. You wife would not need any financial proof.
If in the UK you could apply for a OA long stay visa at the embassy in London. The financial requirements are the same but the money can be a UK bank. A OA visa allows unlimited one year entries for a year from the date it is issued. It is possible get almost almost 2 years of total stay from the visa by getting another one year entry just before it expires. Requirement are here: http://www.thaiembassy.org/london/en/services/7742/84508-Non-Immigrant-visas.html#7 Your wife could get a extension based upon your OA visa entry at immigration.
Excellent answer and very informative.

I used to date a lady who worked in a massage shop...I was surprised to hear that it was a common occurrence for a Farang to come into her shop on the pretense of looking for massage ladies to work in their home countries (Europeans in this case). All expenses paid except their plane ticket....the rest is obvious, no need to explain here. One lady who "forfeited" her money to one of these guys ..would not even go back to work at her shop ..she felt so stupid for having been taken in.
PS. I told her to at least warn the gals to at least get a copy of a passport as a 1st. step in future before parting with any money

Strange that a married man needs to show he has less money than a single man, considering the fact he has a wife to support and possibly children?

Could I go to the bank and do a counter withdrawel and deposit that immediately? Would that work?
If you are here in Thailand like you say you are...and do the above...how would that money show as having come from "outside Thailand"?
You could I suppose convert it into another currency and back again.

Why is this subject approached in a manner that it only applies to the Thai people.
Have you never back home seen fights over the same thing...one person making a "show" of another or making him look stupid. How many Farangs will Never admit that they could possibly have been wrong about something. Older ones with totally "closed" minds.
What about our so called "Leaders"....politicians. Have you ever heard one say, in an interview for example...."You know what ..you have a good point there, I never looked at it that way...now I see that you are correct and I had got it wrong"?
