  1. Good post. Correct me if I am wrong, and I mean no offense by this, but it appears to me that in America if you parents and grandparents always voted Democrat or Republican, then you will also always vote the same way, as they did. There appears to be very view swing voters in America. Australia is the same, but not to the same extent. If this is the case, it's a sad indictment. If there were more swing voters, American politicians would not be so narrow in their view. It appears to me to be a shame independents can't get more political traction in America. In relation to serving their country, that's not something restricted to America. The current generation is all about themselves. Brought up in the Facebook era, they are a bunch of self entitled and selfish people. I guess when you are judged by not who you are but what you earn, I can see how this would change society. I hear what you are saying about the age of politicians. For once in Australia I would like to see anyone else other than a white, middle aged male who is a career politician as the PM. I would like fresh ideas, modern views etc. Unfortunately, all we keep getting is more and more of the same, and where has it got us, into record debt, and many social issues, housing and cost of living as examples. I can only see things around the world getting worse, not any better.
  2. My opinion is, of course Israel has a right to exist. However, the Palestinians also have right to their own statehood. This is why I believe in the two state solution. I can see no other way forward for a long term solution. Basically, the world has had enough of the BS that has been allowed to continue for decades. Now, does the above view make me anti semetic? Does it make me pro Israeli? Does it make me pro Palestine? Does it make me pro Jewish? Does it make me pro Muslim? Does it make me anti Jewish? Does it make me anti Muslim? I consider the above view to be anti war and pro peace.
  3. There's quite a lot on the internet about it. Apparently, Thai women lead the way. 🙂
  4. Certain;y not flaming, Olmate. Keep your underwear on. 🙂 When I read articles like that I am just glad I still have a current Medicare Card, which means, according to one member, I am still a resident for tax purposes. 😂
  5. Did they repeal the Playing Cards Act of 1935? 😂 BBC NewsThai police arrest elderly bridge players in PattayaThai police say they have arrested some unexpected lawbreakers during an anti-gambling raid - 32 elderly bridge players, including 12 Britons. "The members had broken a 1935 law, the Playing Cards Act, which prohibits individuals from possessing more than 120 playing cards, Pattaya One said."
  6. Yeah. Why wouldn't they just gamble online, using a VPN?
  7. Yeah, I do. The German propaganda photo of Hessy, as a baby, that another member posted, I had no idea. Never heard of her. I Googled around and found the story interesting. No need to take things personally. It just goes to credibility. Comments / statements aren't worth much unless they can be backed up with link/s, otherwise, just say, "in my opinion."
  8. You better get your topics straight. 😂 We were discussing smoking, including cigarettes, inside bars, clubs, restaurants etc. This has been illegal in Thailand for years. However, some establishments pay money to authorities to not be fined for allowing it to take place on their premises.
  9. Oskar Schindler comes to mind. It appears the victims have become the perpetrators.
  10. I don't have a closed mind on this forum. If you don't want to explain it in a post, maybe you can supply a link or two and I'll check it out and get back to you.
  11. Yes, the UK has the first past the post system, but it's not backed up by compulsory voting. If the UK implemented compulsory voting, or a fine for no voting, then first past the post in the UK would be a more accurate refection of the people's choice. I remember seeing the news coming out of the UK after the Brexit vote. Many younger people who were "remainers" said if they knew it was going to be so close, they would have voted. Too late now. 🙂
  12. Interesting article. https://www.theguardian.com/education/2012/nov/19/improbable-research-thai-women-cut-off-penis ""Interestingly", the physicians remark at the very end, "none of our patients filed a criminal complaint against their attackers."
  13. Turn the money tap off and see how you go. 😄
  14. Some say love is the grandest in Thailand, hence why males from all around the world travel to Thailand, to find love and romance. 🤣
  15. I'm not going to pretend I know exactly how the American system works. Eg. college vote etc. Perhaps America should change to a "first past the post" system, but then again, that would give "the people" too much of a voice. 🙂
  16. If $2 stretches you budget, perhaps you could ask for one as a birthday or Christmas gift. 😄
  17. Could end up being the best $2 ever spent. 🙂
  18. I've already posted my thoughts. I'll repeat them. In my opinion, in the near future, most Aussie expats will need access to an Australian mobile phone number for the purpose of Two Factor Authentication. (2FA) It was a choice, but many companies in Australia are taking that choice away and making it a requirement. It's free to accept incoming SMS anywhere in the world, so a cheap long validity (365 days) sim is the best choice for this purpose. So, at $2, I would buy a few and have then sent over and keep a couple in a cupboard, just in case something happens to the main one.
  19. The majority of the American people voted him in, not all of the American people. However, in a democracy, the majority rule, and so I agree with you that even those Americans who did not vote for Trump, he's their president also, and thus his words and actions are on behalf of all Americans and every American should accept that. For me, and Australia is the same, it's the lack of decent candidates that is disappointing. Was Trump and Biden really the best people the country could put forward for the job? It tends to show how corrupt the system is.
  20. So did I. Unless you can post a link showing a bullet can turn corners. 😂 There is now a bullet that can change its trajectory mid flight, but that wasn't around in JFK's day. Trump's opened up a new investigation. Hopefully, the American people will finally get the truth.
  21. A 5 word reply to a complex subject that YOU raised is not a serious reply. If you expanded your reply I'd take it more seriously.
  22. It's about the Departure Prohibition Order (DPO) and how the ATO is using more of them these days, Olmate. They'll probably become mainstream, and applied to anyone owing just $1 to the ATO in the future.
  23. Some of them explain why they think that way in this youtube video. (pre Gaza war)
  24. That's quite recent. 😂 Well then it should be too difficult to post a few links to them, should it? 🙂
  25. He should just slowly speed up. The bike's bearings will overheat and seize, and he'll be thrown off. Ahhhh, yet another Go Fund Me. 🤣
