Well, it looks like that worked, and sooner than they expected.????

Flare, thanks for the updates.  I have no idea what my gym is doing.  No Social Medial presence at all and of as always "Radio Silence".    Last year Gyms in CNX were closed for almost two months.  Can CNX break that record this year???? I hope not because I am tired of running on the streets.

I'm friendly with the owner of my gym, so he keeps me informed.  If it weren't for that, I'd (like you) have little info as he hasn't updated his FB page either.  I do know he's gone from mai pen rai/jai yen yen to angry over it, as he and others expected to be allowed to open (at the least with a lower capacity of members able to use the gym at any one time) with the most recent order, and they were very surprised when they were still told to close.

  4. I just got an email with a link to 13-digit vaccine registration number coded to my passport number (I registered with the website last week)- looks like I'm somewhere in the 300,000 range.  No confirmed date yet.

    Dear,
For foreigners who are confirmed for COVID-19 Vaccine registration.
    1. Please check your new Identification number with link >>> https://www.cm-healthcare.net/CMCVR/
Please keep a note of the 13 digit ID number.
    2. You will later receive notification from an official concerning your appointment date and location by either SMS or email.
    3. Using the ID number you received, you can check your status in Wall of Chiang Mai programme at anytime (for those who have already received an appointment date)
Your application is important to us and we are in the process of finding a vaccination date for you as soon as possible.
    Best regards
    CMCVR team.
[THIS IS AN AUTOMATED MESSAGE - PLEASE DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY TO THIS EMAIL].

  5. Just FYI I registered and got a confirmation email instantly.  Being in the 18-55 range with no health issues I'd imagine I'll be at the end of the line...

  6. Schools that passed a Covid-preparedness inspection are announcing plans to open on June 1st (Tuesday)- no word on gyms yet, but I remain hopeful...

  7. According to the owner of the gym I go to, the order of closure hasn't been amended by the CM Municipality (meaning gyms and other 'risky places' will remain closed for the time being, and there's not currently a set opening date).

  8. I talked to the owner of my gym today- he said when he receives the official order from the CM Provincial Government (as noted above), he'll know for sure when he can open.  He's hopeful he can announce today that he'll open tomorrow.  He has to hear it from the local authority.  They need to come out with an official order that supersedes the current one (51/2564, which is the 'closed until further notice' order).

  9. CM is now an 'orange' zone (dropping two places from 'dark red'- we managed to skip past 'red' entirely), but no official word yet on what that means for gym openings (we may hear later today or tomorrow).  I'm tired of working out at home and inventing ways to hit the various muscle groups- I'm using everything I can for extra resistance, including my wife- I asked her if I could pick out a couple mia noi (one heavier and one lighter so I could vary the weight), but she wouldn't go for it.????‍♀️

  10. Still waiting for the official announcement, which could come today.  There's currently no official opening day for gyms and other closed businesses, but it's possible it could be tomorrow (the 16th).  I believe the closure is extended unless the government declares otherwise as they acted to extend it indefinitely on the 8th- in other words, 'No news is bad news'.

As all gyms are subject to the same rules, if your gym isn't great at updating, try the Speed Gym or Loft Gym FB pages as they're pretty good about posting the info quickly.  Neither has an update yet.

But footwear is a nightmare. I am a size 14 (US). My mom used to send me some from the states before she passed away a few years ago. Now I have to buy <deleted> footwear online and it's too small, so I have to fold down the back part and just step on it, turning it into a de facto sandal. It's not exactly the look I want going into a formal meeting, funeral, etc.

My mom used to send me packs of my favorite Fruit-of-the-Loom underwear, which I can't find here- she passed away last year, and now I have to source it elsewhere.  Moms were great for that kind of stuff, and it's little things like that that make us miss (and appreciate) them more after they're gone.

  12. Speed Gym, Loft Gym, Magnus Gym, Ruamchok Fitness, D Fitness, Maxx Gym (as noted above), and I'm sure other gyms have posted the same notice (some gyms might not have updated their websites and FB pages yet, but they're all subject to the same order)- gyms are closed 'indefinitely' (meaning until the government declares otherwise) in Chiang Mai.  Below is the official announcement, which says the new order started from May 8th, superseding the previous announcement that gyms would open on May 11th.  It's possible they'll open soon as the case numbers have been declining in CM, but there's no firm opening date for any gym (or any other type of establishment listed) at the moment.

This is the order that Fromas referenced above.

The problem with a lot of Lazarda shoes is that the length/width may be okay in large sizes, but the shoe opening is too small to get your foot into the shoe.  I have come across this a couple of times with so called deck shoes.

I've had good luck through the Lazada brand sections like their 'Nike Flagship Store', where the sizes  (and width) seem the same as the US and they often have sizes up to '12' (my size- I don't have a particularly wide foot, so your experience may vary;)), and I've seen 13 a couple times.

  15. The 71 Export shop on Huay Kaew near the corner of Canal Road has lots of big clothing sizes (I'm 6'2" 220lbs and they've got some stuff that's too big for me)- they don't have much for shoes, though (some limited-edition sneakers upstairs, though I have no idea of sizes).  As noted, Lazada has some larger sizes, and I've seen some large sizes for running shoes (as well as athletic wear) at Decathlon in Tesco Hang Dong.

I'm assuming the same, but not sure whether that'll be "summer" as in June, or September. Hoping for sooner.

I'm just guessing here, but it looks like the government is at least for now concerning itself with only the Sinovac and AZ vaccines, though others (I believe) are on the approved list- private hospitals can take more of a 'whatever is available' approach, and, going by an article I read a couple weeks ago in a paper that can't be linked here,  they were approved to order 10mil doses (so, enough for 5mil people)- no doubt orders have been in for months, and, with production ramping up, they'll likely be delivered soon.  I'd bet it will be closer to June than September- let's split the difference and say mid-July (hopefully).;)

  17. I have little doubt that if you're willing to pay for it (months ago I saw preliminary estimates saying the vaccine will cost ~3500bt at local hospitals,  though who knows how that will match up to reality, especially when it first becomes available) you'll be able to get the jabs by the summer.  The big hospitals have to see this as a 'cash cow' with tens (maybe hundreds)-of-thousands of people willing and able to pay to avoid the government tiered roll-out, and they likely already have their orders in.
