actually become a nice zoo if you take the walk safari route..

Yup, it's a nice walk around their lake If you get there early before the heat settles in.  It's quite possible to slip over the edge down a couple meters into the crocodile pit (right near the crocodile statue), so watch out with the little ones.  I almost got rid of the wife that way ('Come take a look over here!'), but she's getting wise to me after all these years.

    I'm off this nonsense.

You said the mass gainer was more expensive to use per gram of protein, I said it was cheaper- turns out we were both wrong as it's nearly identical (MJ -0.95 baht per gram, On ~0.97 baht per gram).

Nonsense perhaps, but you're the one who quoted me to start it in the first place.

That's the label for the small can, the 2kg (5lbs) has 80 servings. You want to go on all day? If you are convinced that mass gainer is a big deal, then use it. I'm off this nonsense.

Lazada put up the wrong label (can you believe it?)  They actually work out to about the same- feel free to run the numbers yourself.

Mass gainers are not a good deal. I'll explain you why: the amount of powder you need to reach a decent amount of protein intake (let's say 50g) is huge. You will need two 5kg cans/month. You are paying more than any other pure protein powder. Mass gainer = protein + carbs + fats. Buy a pure protein and eat 2 bananas, or peanut butter. There's not need to buy carbs and fats in powder since they are inexpensive.

Normally you'd be correct, but not in this case.

The Muscle Juice deal is 1420 baht for ~1500 grams (15.7 lbs of powder) of protein total, so, just under 1 baht per gram.  The On Gold (5lbs of powder) container mentioned earlier in the thread has 696 total grams for 1694 baht, or 2.4 baht per gram- which is the better deal?  On Gold has more protein per pound, but it's also much more expensive.

If you want to avoid the other ingredients or want 100% whey isolate that's one thing, but, per gram of protein, you can't beat the Muscle Juice price.

30 grams of protein is only a tiny piece of meat: 100 grams of chicken, 100 grams of tuna steak, 150 grams of salmon, 110 grams of lean steak, 120 grams canned tuna. There are other sources of protein that's not from meat like cottage cheese, yogurt, milk, beans, lentils, etc.

Thanks, but it's not my first day, and I'm well aware of how many chicken breasts I'd have to eat in a day to get 150-180g of protein over the course of a day.  There's something called a 'protein efficiency ratio'- if you're going to equate 30g of whey protein to 30g of beans or whatever, you have no clue what you're talking about.  Your body will not metabolize the same amount of 30g of just about any other source of protein like it will for egg whites or whey protein.

Protein Powder is such a load of marketing <deleted>. Surely all of you can get enough protein from chicken, meat, milk, eggs, etc. The size of the chicken breast is so small to just fuflill the protein requirements of a bodybuilder. Only a pussy wouldn't be able to get enough protein every day and require protein powder.

Well, when you try to eat five or six 'meals' of ~30+ grams of protein per day, it's kinda hard to eat  (not to mention digest before it's time for the next serving) that much chicken...

Protein shakes in between 'real' meals works pretty well.

Muscle juice is a weight gainer, not the same as a whey isolate.

It's an inexpensive protein powder (it's a blend that includes some whey isolate, though not 100%).  Anything can be a 'weight gainer', especially if you use their huge 'recommended dose' of 1020 calories, and that's mixed with water (I cut this down considerably).  It's a good deal for a large amount of decent stuff.

Those Rims look like the Ice Cream Wafers from Svensons.

They're OK with me, and I won't be changing them- at least they're 19" and fill up the wheel-well better than the smaller ones on some other models:

First off, the CX-5 is not just a bigger engine compared to the CX-30. Its a much bigger car since the CX-30 is more or less a raised Mazda 3 with slightly more head room. When I looked at both of these cars, I fell in love with the CX-5 since it's more of an SUV as far as style and practicality but I was looking for a family car with some style.

I feel like they hurt the overall look of the CX-30 with that excessive plastic cladding. I know why they did it but for a company that has put so much effort into building up their brand as "affordable luxury" it's baffling to me why they thought it was a good idea because it creates a very confusing looking exterior, it cheapens the look. You'd have to get the machine grey paint color to make the cladding look less obscene. I'm concerned that it will hurt resale value.

With all of that being said, the CX-30 is an overall great car for the price. it drove smoothly, was quite, felt like a much more expensive car on the road and the interior design is stunning. If you can get past the cladding, its the best car in that price range IMOP but to be honest, thats not saying a whole lot since the main competior is the Honda HRV. But, if you have the money, I'd recommend going with the CX-5.

I know (as I noted earlier in the thread, I test-drove the CX-30 and liked it, but it was too small for my needs)- there's a brand-new red CX-5 parked in my driveway- it was delivered last week.;)

  10. Just an update in case it hasn't been mentioned elsewhere- mail-in passport renewals at the US Consulate are back on the menu:

The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok and the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai are now accepting mail-in DS-82 adult passport renewal applications. If you meet the requirements to renew your passport by mail then you are not eligible to schedule an in-person appointment at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. We are currently only  offering limited in-person appointments for individuals who are required to submit a DS-11 passport application (minor applicants, first-time adult, first application after a lost/stolen passport).

  11. Unity Concord just announced yesterday that they're starting their on-campus summer program on July 6th, so they must have received official word they can open (with social distancing as mentioned in their FB page)- no doubt other schools will be following suit if this is accurate:

  12. While this vague post likely won't help much, I've seen a company that rides around LOS with a large truck that's been advertising that they're buying 'big bikes' anywhere in the country on the local FB pages.  I took a quick look and didn't find it, but joining one of the expat groups and posting may very well cause them to find you.  As they're certainly buying for resale the price might not be the greatest, but it's worth a shot.

It's not the greatest seller's market at the moment, as I'm sure you already know...

The HS seems to have a larger rear storage are than the mazda?

    or is it a illusion

According to some UK sites, the HS has 463 cubic liters to the CX-5's 503 cubic liters (non-metric that's 31.9 cubic feet rear seats up, 59.6 rear seats down, which is on the low side for its class- that's about 20% less than the CR-V).

As I noted, the HS was surprisingly nice inside- I played around with the switches, buttons, and doodads for a few minutes before test-driving it, and I was impressed (I also liked the two-toned interior)- I thought to myself, 'If I like how this drives, it's going to be a contender.'  Nope- the engine was OK (not great, but better than I had expected based on the reviews) and felt faster than 162hp, but the ride was just too soft- if they improve the suspension and keep it under 1.1mil (I think with the discount they were offering- and before I unleashed the wife on them- the price was 1,040,000 baht), it would be a good deal (depending on how it holds up over time- the jury is still out on that as it's a new model).

  14. That's a lot of money for an extra 69hp (162hp to 231hp)- now, if the engine put out 331hp, I might not have been able to resist it (of course, the strange Thai import tariffs based on power output would likely have bumped the price up even more).  If you don't need the extra space in the rear, I think you made the right move- the top-spec CX-30 is loaded with features, and it looks great.
