  1. And..? It's not a question of owner, but that any airline can fly USM on same conditions and fees as Bangkok Airways, which they can. The fees are high, because there is no tax-payer support involved in the building and maintaining the airport...????
  2. TiT, they will change something every year... Just pick up the actual form(s) a day or two in advance – own printed form might not be accepted, I talk from experience – that's what I successfully has been doing for a number of years...????
  3. It's an independent company limited, It's been up several times and also mentioned in the news a while back. Part of the land is leased and it was renewed for another 30 years. The users pays the cost for building and maintaining the airport – i.e. same fixed fees for all – no matter what name is painted on the tail of the airplane...????
  4. Same fees as Bangkok Airways, it's a private airport owned by an separate company limited, built and serviced without taxpayer funding, so the users pay for the costs...????
  5. Yes I am, and since the immigration office moved to Maenam soi 1, I have always been asked to come back after about a week to collect my passport. They actually accept up to one month before expiry date now; earlier they only only accepted two weeks, if you came early, you would be asked to come back two weeks before expiry date. When I came two weeks before expiry date, I was asked to come one month before next time, which I also have used without problems, and with a comment from the immigration officer: »I like you, you are always so well organized«...???? If you want change on extension-fee, come with exactly counted money... – if you want a smile, come with two one-thousand baht notes... – I never got change or receipt, but I always ("always" in my case equals 15 years so far) got good service...????
  6. See @Tropicalevo's reply – before Covid-lockdown there were a n umber of other airlines flying to Samui, Tropicalevo is up-to-date with the present situation all airlines are welcome at USM...????
  7. Presumably nothing, as you have a window on 5 days after due date. Samui Immigration will reset 90-days reports when applying for a one-year extension of stay; you will have a note stapled in your passport about next 90-days reporting date. However, you are a bit late for extension of stay, you should come no later than two weeks before. The officer at the desk might mention that.
  8. Every airline can fly to Samui Airport, but as it was built without government support, the users must pay the costs. What would Samui have been as business without the private initiative, when there was no government support..?
  9. The infrastructure on Samui is more important, it cannot take a huge number of more visitors, nor can the roads take more the cars.
  10. Yes, Jysk, IKEA and Lazada (rare, but I bought two from there)...
  11. ???? [thumbs up-emoji, which might be slow loading from tvemoji.maxcdn.com]
  12. I had no problem getting Thais moved into the Blue House Book belonging to my house, but the so-called registered "house master" need to do it, which in my case is me. I've moved both my girlfriend and two minor nieces – so they could be eligible for public school in the area where I live – no hassle at all, later the house master of the previous house book-registration will get a notice to come with the house book to the tessa ban-office and have the moved name(s) deleted...????
  13. The blood test might have be taken late enough to get rid of anything over the limit...
  14. Just walk in together with my passport – needed for identification to the immigration office – it takes all together about 15 minutes from walk-in til payment and walk-out. Remember to ask for medical check for "retirement extension", work permit is to my knowledge a larger test...????
  15. Last time I used it was October 2022 and 250 baht. It's been accepted for me so far, and almost as long as medical certificate has been required; I think I used Bandon Hospital the first time...????
  16. Makes sense. Yes, my architect mentioned a number little more than one meter – so 42" – when we two days ago were talking about renewing my own 2nd floor balcony railing in my private house, which I originally had made as 80 centimeters (32"), 13 years ago. I had however designed my 3rd floor railing made as meter (40").
  17. It's unfortunately not the first time somebody falls out from a balcony due to a low railing in Thailand, which might be as low as 50-60 centimeters instead of 80-90 centimeters that suits most Westerners. Architects today recommend to make one meter high railings on balconies used by Westerners.
  18. The power dropped a number of times for seconds in the Maenam area between 7 pm and 8 pm, but got stable again and keep running until I "dropped" some hours into this year...????
  19. Good, I have the cheapest available for around 600 baht per month, which is 1Gbit/200Mbit fiber...
  20. The list from October this year that includes the non-OA insurance... I didn't use the appointment system, I'm not sure if it works or not – you'll probably just be seated with a queue-number like everybody else, and asked to wait while they check your documents, until you get a new number and a date to return to pick up your passport. If your papers are in order, it's not that bad...????
  21. The short answer is no. A better location for snorkeling is Koh Phangan or Koh Tao, but newer condo – or condo at all – might not be available; however you could find some interesting snorkeling spot on the southern part of Samui, which are not close to what you asks for, but there might be a 7-Eleven shop within healthy walking distance. A condo is not easily found as we mainly stay in bungalows by the beach or nearby a beach on Samui and her sister islands; however, nice bungalows are easily found within walking distance to a good beach, smaller supermarket like Mini BigC or Lotus's Go Fresh, and a gym. For snorkeling among corals and tropical fish you might need a trip by speed boat to an optimal location in a remote bay; "The Japanese Garden" by Koh Nangyuan is for example a perfect spot. Beach suggestions: Crystal Bay in healthy walking distance from Lamai – some snorkeling might be of interest there – or Maenam Beach, where you shall not expect exciting snorkeling. Perhaps some other forum-members that are local snorkeling-experts have more precise information about best spots around Samui...????
