What Chaweng's beach road looks like now...
khunPer replied to khunPer's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
You see, the great benefit in Chaweng is that tourists actually live in charming boutique resorts hidden among palms and trees on the beach side, and therefore don't need to stay in tall hotel buildings, and cross a heavy trafficked road to get to a public beach like in Patong; Chaweng's land side is mainly shopping, and some of the restaurants and nightlife... -
Police return money to the abbot - 63 million baht
khunPer replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand
If everybody just like I put 20 baht note in a charity box every time visiting a temple it might sum up over time - not to forget a 100 baht note when also getting blessed by a monk - I'm however amazed that it can be as much as 63 million baht...???? -

question about law for rental payment
khunPer replied to futurion's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
The law in English translation is HERE. -
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, but a child need permission from it's guardian(s) to invest. Have you checked with a lawyer about the possibilities..? However, I'm a farang-foreigner and I can own a house, but not the land under the house, which I for example can lease; and I can buy as many stocks I like, just like any foreigner can under either the 49 percent limit, or with the NVDR-option; and I can have Thai bank accounts in my name that pays me interest, just I have an address in Thailand, which is easy to obtain. You might be able to buy the property with a company limited, where your Thai-child owns shares, even a majority - I never had any problems with that, I don't think the mum signed anything, check with an experience property-lawyer - you can control the company via preferred shares, there are more than one method to do that...????

Thailand listed among the healthiest countries to retire
khunPer replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I believe you, and all other Brits, are free to move back to UK for better health care..! And if I'm unhappy I can of course return to my home country; which might be an awful place for retirement... It would be more relevant to look at figures among foreign retirees in LOS, like health condition and longevity when comparing, and not compare with the natives. Furthermore foreign retirees might choose high ranking private hospitals rather than public. Happiness level is also a major factor to include...???? -

What Chaweng's beach road looks like now...
khunPer replied to khunPer's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
November is high season on Phuket, and no season on Samui, earlier many resorts simply closed fra 1st November until just before Xmas. Furthermore it's little different different clientele visiting Phuket and Bangla Road than Samui, so not easy for a straight comparison, not to forget that Phuket's airport can handle long distance international flights, and also have European charter flight arrivals...???? -

More COVID cases in Surat Thani?
khunPer replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Bhavana had an outbreak some time ago, might be under control. Most students on Samui between 12 years and 18 years have by now been fully vaccinated with Pfizer, all have had the offer. -
My Bangkok Bank-account for example, 100,000 baht pr. day and 25,000 baht per withdrawal. SCB has similar high withdrawal limit per day, but used to be only 20,000 baht per withdrawal.

More COVID cases in Surat Thani?
khunPer replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
The last school that closed was because of one positive student, so far only two known positive results fra that school, but it's only a week ago the school closed, so more cases can theoretically show up. -

What Chaweng's beach road looks like now...
khunPer replied to khunPer's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
There are no bars open, perhaps from January, but restaurants are allowed to sell alcohol when serving food, so some places are now "restaurants", or at least they serve food. I think all still need to close at 11 pm or Midnight. The beach road in Chaweng is however still almost dead as a Dodo - apart from take way kebab - last time i checked. However, I must admit that I'm not headed out dancing several times a week around beach road-area at the moment, as i would likely be disappointed and only get a ????
