  1. Thailand is not Asia Disney Worlds. Reality still applies. Not working for 4 years and ran out of money? Wow, who would have saw that coming? Sorry, just tired of people coming to live here and expecting the world to then kiss their ass and everything will be handed to them.

"Thailand is not Asia Disney Worlds." - I think you'll find it probably is..........

  3. Anywhere in Pattaya sell Sonos?

    I have no idea.

Anyone in Pattaya selling that amp brand (which I have never previously heard of)?

At least the Sonos stuff is at an accessible price and could be imported by the end-user.

I think that it is quite good value for money, given the facilities and quality it offers. We saved quite a lot (USD3000) simply by being able to control it with free iPhone/Android apps rather than buying the specific remote controls. It really does work very well.

Is it possible to run your TV audio thru it as well? I have read there website but nothing about TV's so i'm thinking probably not?

  4. Have you considered Sonos units for the multi-room functions?

I put these into a large house (8 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 8 living rooms, 2 kitchens, various outdoor areas) and it all worked very well indeed.

Nothing stopping you from using Lexicon equipment as amps, if you like it, but I dont quite see the point of having a centralised amp system without the per room control.

Perhaps more to the point to have individual amps but centralised music distribution, as Sonos offers. For example, in some rooms (bathrooms) I hooked up the Sonos units to simple amps and ceiling speakers. In the bedrooms we had better amps with AV functions, for viewing TV also, and both ceiling and standalone speakers. In the living rooms we had very high quality AV amps for home cinema. In all cases Sonos did the distribution.

    Anywhere in Pattaya sell Sonos?

  5. Different pressure if you fill with Air or Nitro.

    Enlighten me.....

    JH

He means Nitrogen, not the BOOOOOOOOOOM Nitro. :D

I understand what he means, but a tonne of feathers is the same weight as a tonne of lead, so how does 35psi of nitro differ from 35psi of compressed air? Enlighten me......

    Thanks

  6. OK, cool

So in order to know what the proper pressures should be, we need to know:

    1. The car manufacturers' recommended pressures for the OEM tires.

    2. The Load rating of the OEM tires (i.e. 112V)

    3. The Load rating of the new tires..

WOW.....where might one get all that info then?

I read on a website that rule of thumb for pressure is to add 1psi per inch, eg i have gone from 17" ( recommended 29psi ) to 22", does 34psi sound "about right" for the above mentioned tyre size?

    JH

That's wrong - it's got absolutely nothing to do with the rim diameter -it's all about the load rating (which corresponds to sidewall stiffness).

The correct rule is: Adjust the OEM recommended PSI pressures by subtracting the load rating of the new tire from the load rating of OEM new tire.

    Examples:

if the OEM tire is 109S and the new tire is 112V, and the OEM pressure is 29PSI:

    109 - 112 = -3

    29PSI - 3 = 26 PSI

If the OEM tire is 112H and the new tire is 111R, and the OEM pressure is 32PSI:

    112 - 111 = 1

    32PSI + 1 = 33 PSI.

If you didn't swap your spare tire, you should be able to look at it to determine the OEM load rating that corresponds to the vehicle manufacturers recommended pressures.

    Very interesting.

    Works out 35psi.

    Many thanks.

  8. What car? - they're all a little different..

There should be either a sticker in the driver's door jamb with the manufacturers recommended pressures, or it should be stated in the owner's manual,,

    They are 265/40/22.

  9. WELCOME TO THAILAND!

Thai people really have no respect for others, only themselves and that's it. They have no set standards of ethics, or never learned.

Correct.... you could also add they have no shame and no pride![/i]

  10. Some interesting Comments from Readers about The In Pattaya Now Article

Pattaya jet-ski scams continue unabated despite promises

    Nov 10 2011

If Pattaya Council is really concerned about these scams, why don't they get warning notices in in the languages of the tourists and post them on ALL Hotel and guest house notice boards. Also the tourist authority of thailand could issue the same warnings. If they want these tourists to return they need to take some action. I am sure the Embassies of the tourists concerned would gladly provide translations of the warnings for their citizens. If jet ski operators are found to have scammed people their licences should be revoked and never renewed again. Who owns the jet skis ? anyone in a position of influence ?

    Nov 11 2011

I often see a pick-up with about three jet-skis being towed behind come down my soi and the stencilled livery on the side of the pickup looks exactly like the logo for Pattaya City Hall. I leave you to think of the implications.

    Nov 11 2011

nothing short of a total ban will bring this cash cow to a halt and that will not happen. there is simply too much money being made, enough to keep everybody happy except the innocent tourists. All the talk about registration it's all smoke and mirrors, if any scheme is dreamed up it will be ignored and things will continue with people being openly robbed of huge sums in broad daylight

    Yawn......

  11. Can private cars get through to the drop off area at departures?

private cars and most pattaya taxis look exactly the same so there would be no way to stop a normal car dropping off in the normal way.

the only problem is collecting an arriving passenger as it seems all short term and long term car parks are full. so if picking up you need to use a taxi as described in my earlier post

Arrange to meet arriving passenger at a certain gate number at the top at departures then just drive round in circles... or take someone with you, get dropped off, go inside meet arrival then call person driving round in circles to come get you - job done.

  12. I see the police vigorously go after an "unlicensed" squid vendor on the beach but the police don't seem to notice the unlicensed jet ski mafia robbing tourists of hundreds of thousand of baht every day.

    Amazing.

Like the Mayor said: "it's complicated"

You and your side kick "saintofwhatever" need to get a life....... it sounds like you have made this jet ski deal your life's crusade? Please please tell me you have something better to do with your time, if not then that's very very sad!

  13. If you are coming from southern Thailand, I doubt that you will make it through Bangkok. Rama 2 is the last major road open to Southern Thailand from Bangkok which is not flooded.

Pattaya is considered to be to the East of Bangkok along with Suvarnabhumi airport.

However who knows if the routes to Pattaya will be open next week. They are under threat of possible flooding near Suvarnabhumi airport.

The government has not been very truthful.

    Where exactly?
