I bought mine for a PJS at Boy Air & Sound.
going out of Pattaya towards Bangkok , past Cholchan Hotel before flyover
its on your right on the other side of the road
opposite the Temple/orphanage do a U turn and its 300metres up on your left
Edit: //
Also the shop at the Car Park in Big C Extra has some (although more expensive then Boy)
Thanks for the info, what did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking?
JH
950 THB for 2 (only front seats though, and they where made from fabric/textile as my PJS already has Leather Seats)
Note: With Boy, if you haggle you can get them for less, but I was in a bit of a rush
Thanks, were the back seat covers available?

think so would 3 million people presently unemployed, i did it years ago, but then you could always walk into a job in a call centre. the taxi job is done by a few but getting a licence is tough and people aint going out anymore in the UK. so i would forget it. mate of mine used to work for windscreen fitting company who wanter workers in summer months, another is HGV and works delivering to stores for 5 months in the lead upto christmas then comes out for 5 months. the offshore and security work in middle east also drying up
Don't think so buddy.....

I have heard that this area is targeted as a new "Night Market" - the stall holders to take down their tables at midnight.
So will be a thriving investment for any Thai stall holder and Ex-pat bar owner.
I heard that too.
Like I said there is a mix.
Also in the area, a newish Italian restaurant that is quite decent, fresh pastas/pizzas/dinner plates (across from the Bali place) and just today noticed a new American food place called Bourbon Street (I doubt related to the famous Bangkok place) opening in the old Seafood Emporium location. It is quite clear to me this entire area is going to boom. This being greater Pattaya, of course it includes beer bars.
As others have mentioned there is a lower priced Indian place in the beer bar area and some old favorites like the Mr. Moo joint. Around the main market there are a lot more Thai style stalls opening. It seems like something new every week now.
One thing I am really liking so far is the really good mix and healthy balance of typical Thai food market places and expat/tourist attractions. Maybe you can say that about a lot of areas in town, but I am feeling something new and special beginning to happen in that area.
Do you also like the mix of water when it floods? and all the dust about when it's dry? and all the accidents at the junction there? Personally i think that area is a sh*thole and feel sorry for the people that have really nice homes in that nice ( but overpriced ) moo baan that is close by, forget the name, Jomtien Park Villa's or something like that?

It's View Talay Villa's, the perimeter wall of the development is right next to the new bars and restaurants, I saw it coming two or three years back and sold before it became a problem.
View Talay Villa's, knew it was something like that, i had a look there about 6 or 7 years ago, although very nice the plots were small and i thought overpriced....
Bet you're happy you sold then...

Lots of good advice on this thread, however you'll never really know until you try it.
I gave-up work about a yearand a half ago, with about the same amount of money in the bank as you. I was 46 at the time.
I enjoyed the first 3-4 months but after 6 months I was starting to get bored and began to realise that I was missing work. This came as a big surprise but there you go. After a full year off I decided to go back to work and, luckily, quickly found a job working in Singapore and now China.
I had a fairly interesting life in Thailand during the year off work. I travelled a lot, both inside Thailand and four trips to Indonesia, plus Vietnam, Singapore and Cambodia, visited the gym almost every day and lost some weight and got fit, kept in touch with friends who were still working but visited Thailand occasionally and made some new friends. However, I am much happier having gone back to work. Funny really.
I intend to try again when I get to 50 or 51.
Simon
Interesting.....
Some consideration needs to be given to what you will do with all your time once retired. A nice balance is if you can find consultancy work in whatever profession you're involved and stay active for a portion of the year, i like to do about 100 days work a year. As you have mentioned it is always good to stay in touch with people you have worked with so you can stay in the loop.

So long as you have the option of regular work consulting there no reason why you cannot do it now.
Rent for a while before you commit to buying anything.

I would be coming with my gf ,so i dont want area full of bars and women.
Jomtien should be fine.
Mostly respectable bars, fairly clean beach and only a 10B ride from Pattaya if you want to come into town.
Do stay near/on the beach though; it's a pain to get transport if you aren't on the main route.
LOL

I have a Tops points card and I own Tesco shares.
Guess which two supermarkets I use?
I'm going to stop using Tesco's now then.

Ikea has some nice stuff for the money, at least in the US. However, the quality of SB outclasses Ikea by quite a bit.
I think the SB stuff is overpriced junk!!

I'm sure that the CEOs of these establishments are really depressed that a discriminating gentleman such as yourself is boycotting them.
I should worry.
I own shares in a couple of restaurant chains but I dont eat there. Also own shares in Apple but would never own an Apple product. Neither is a boycott: I just think the products are overpriced and above all not to my taste, and so I don't buy them. A boycott is something very different indeed as it involves choosing not to buy something for reasons that are unrelated to its value or quality.
Lots of clowns around that do like those things though, and their cash keeps paying my dividends.
the dividends must be so good that you could afford to get 2 pairs of 650baht trainers then?

How do you know he never had a track record ( bad ) at the bar you he got asked to leave? Normally these places will take money of any paying customer even if they don't like the race they are...
Nationalities liked are Koreans, Japs etc - it's all about the $$
JH
His first time in Thailand hadnt even figured out the colours of bank notes, exchange rates etc.. been here a couple of days
That's rough then. The establishment must have had bad experiences with the same assumed race previously and tarred all of that race with the same brush, maybe......
