After long and careful research, I am looking for something dependable and Kia definitely does not fit that criteria...The trusted workhorses are Toyota and Volkswagen.

There are some good days in monsoon season on the Eastern Seaboard in Rayong Mae Ramphung area, sometimes Koh Chang White Sand beach in June/July. Then from May-November the Andaman coast and Phuket....In October you can hit Chumphon and Kanom area as well...Eastern Seaboard can get 4 ft waves on the best days and Andaman coast its more regular and can get to head high waves....Its' not Bali or Hawaaii but you can Surf in Thailand and Malaysia as well.

I am really looking for a Hiace flat top or vw caravelle/transporter not minivans. I need to haul some surfboards on top rack and sometimes inside. Just need a dayvan really with rocker bed, some swivel captain chairs and small table(inside)....My main concerns are that 2nd hand Toyotas' are beat to death and VWs' have a very limited network for spare parts and service. Cheers.

I am interested in acquiring a 2nd hand Hiace flat top or Vw Caravelle to convert into a day van/surf van. Would like to take a row of seats out, install storage space, electrical outlet(for charging laptop/phone), small foldable side table. No major changes. Firstly, what are the legalities of a foreigner driving a Hiace or Vw Caravelle for private purposes( specificaly in regards to insurance)? Can anyone recommend which model would be better, probably Toyota for its vast network...Any recommendations for companies who specialise in these conversions in the Bangkok/Pattaya area? It would be great to hear from forum members experiences. Thank you.

You might want to look up ultimate guitar in google....All the tabs you will need and they also have guitar pro tabs. If you want to play along with tracks, try and google guitar backing tracks...Play along to youtube videos of your favourite songs, play along to the original songs, play along to anything....TV commercials, radio jingle etc...you will not only develop finger dexterity but most importantly develop your ear...Enjoy!

Relax, you will be fine! There are food deliveries and many places down Khao Noi, Khao Talo, Maprachan, Nerm Plub waan to eat as well. Once you get to know the backroads and shortcuts, getting into town will not be as bad as people make it out to be. In regards to construction, maybe that was a bad call on your part...but for the rest, you will never look back! All the best.

I lived in Samui from March 1995, right across from Reggae at Kings' Bungalow...It was already up and running, I believe it burned down in 1994. The old site was right behind the video screen...the charred remains were left there for a while.

I am driving down to Ranong and would like to leave my car for a few days in a safe parking, as we would like to stay in Koh Phayam for a few days. Can anyone recommend a nice Hotel/ B&B in (Ranong and Phayam)and safe parking. I am sure there must be some, due to it being a border town. Secondly, since it is low season, there are no speedboats to Phayam or is this a myth? Any tips/hints etc...would be very much appreciated! I will report back! Thank you.

I stayed in Vashisht for a while 15 yrs ago. I remember it being a 20-30 min walk down the mountain to Manali. Before the bridge into Manali, you would pass a Tibetan village and then a Military check point. Rickshaws make it up and down the mountainside and you can walk down safely during daytime. Why would one wait until 1 am to make their way down? Where did she stay until 1am? Being a tourist destination with lots of hotels, hostels why not get a room? No excuse for rape or the misconduct of the Indians in this case! It is an amazing part of the world to visit, don't let it put you off. Just make reasonable decisions!
