  1. Honest days work for an honest days pay.

minimum in Chonburi is 184b per day, don't be a tight ass.

    Uhm, THB 184 x 29 (2 days off) = THB 5,336

THB 3,000 for 2 days per week is THB 300-THB 375 per day.

The regular pay per day in respectable businesses/companies is THB 200-THB 250 per day.

  2. Needed:

    - copy of proof of address (utility-, telephone-bill, rental contract, etc.)

Dont have any of those, unfortunately. Oh well, I will just go and do a lot of smiling. Seems to work most times.

Letter needed for: ...... obtaining proof of address from your own Embassy

Hmm. If the British consulate thinks I'm going to pay 200B at immigration for the privilege of then paying another 2500B to the consulate so that they can certify the contents of the 200B letter, they have another think coming!

The whole point (for me) of going to immigration is to avoid being ripped-off by the consulate!

If you have any repair bill in your name stating your address, it should suffice. I used a Samsung fridge repair bill before and it worked!

Oh sure, just any (recent) document stating your name and an address.

A proof of address from your embassy is usually needed for institutes in your home country. I wonder if they will accept a Thai document cool.gif

  3. A very important matter is service.

Buy appliance with a service possibility around.....which means: buy at Numchai and they will service you.

Buy at any superstore (BigC, Tesco, .....oh Carrefour is no longer there) and you have to find your own way of service.

Some brands do have a service point in Pattaya.

  4. As a proof of address for the letter from Immigration, you may also use utility-bills/telephone-bills in YOUR name.

    Needed:

    - 2 pass photo's

    - copy of passport (name page and most recent visa pages+ stamps + arrival/departure card)

    - copy of proof of address (utility-, telephone-bill, rental contract, etc.)

    - form to be filled in at Imm.Office.

    Cost:: THB 200 per letter

Letter needed for: buying motor vehicles, obtaining Thai driver licences, obtaining proof of address from your own Embassy, registry moobaan, etc.

  5. On the Pattaya news topic there's a thread about TukCom resellers offering fake mobile phones.

I know that fake mobiles are on offer and in most cases it's obvious if an iPhone is offered for THB 6000, then it might not be genuine.

Somewhat 20 years ago a Nokia came from Finland, an Ericsson from Sweden and a Sony from Japan.

A "Made in China" sticker implied a copy.

Nowadays, a lot of the original stuff is produced in China.

How do I know whether a mobile phone (or any other piece of eqp) is genuine?

  6. The weavils in the rice are not so much of a problem, when you put the water in the rice cooker the weavils drown and flaot to the top so you can fish them out, it's the waevils in the flour that's the problem as you get lots of black dots in your bread or cakes when they get burnt in the oven.

Christ.......and I thought that the raisin-bread was very tasty! annoyed.gif

  7. a good start would be to reduce their numbers by at least 50% this would give the remaining bahtbuses better earnings and reduce congestion.

I heard that a baht bus would bring at least THB 500 on a daily basis into the cash register of the bb-mob.

    THB 500 x 350 baht buses is THB 175,000 x 365 days = THB 63,875,000.

I suppose that the bb-mob hold no tight to this amount.

But there is a new star on the horizon: The bb-mob are asked by city-hall to take care of the new mono-rail system that will start operation in the year............2025?

So, on the ground 700 baht buses, 25 taxi meters, approx. 2500 motorbike-taxi's, a few coaches of what's left of them and then of course on a higher level, the new monorail.

  8. Thanks guys,

It's an estate agents - yup yet another one ;-)

I am not involved in any way other than wishing to offer any advice I can.

It will be a professional (I hope) company who get paid to do it.

Hoping for someone who has general experience of needing a website done for them and who, what, potential problems, what to look out for, what to check/ensure etc.

    TIA

As said, I'm not an expert, but if you use a host for your real-estate website, it might be a good idea to hire someone who will take care of this in-house. Real estate websites show sales/rental offers and change on a daily base. The person involved could also take care of other marketing expressions lime brochures, catalogues, etc.

  9. Web-hosting is IMHO similar to "take care of someone else's marketing expressions".

Leaving this in the hands of "professionals" is asking for trouble.

I know of 2 examples, where a Thai host built a website and offered to host it.

After a few months, the host vanished leaving the website up-and-running, but for changes a password is needed and of course.........no one to be found.

Another example, where the host asks ridiculous prices for changes or updates.

I'm not a real web-host or web-builder, but I managed to built my own website, create emails along with it and if I did have more time and patience it would look a lot better, BUT everything is in my hands and supervision.

For only $ 123 per year I have a website, URL, up to 10 e-mail-addresses and no headaches (well no headaches I can blame others for wink.gif )

  10. Meh no great loss, I thought Carrefour was a rancid place to shop from the get go.

From the get go it looked nice, clean and organized, but since they re-organized the store an few years ago, it looked more like a ware-house than a super-market.

I wonder what will happen with the Carrefour in Muang Chonburi. There's one along Sukhumvit and a few 100 meters further down the road there's a Big C.

More or less attached to the Central Shoppingmall in Chonburi there is also a Carrefour.........so that would mean.......3 Big C within sight along a stretch of 500 meters............

  11. I know nothing about fighter jets but from Google, it looked more like a Grippen than an F-16. I am still unsure as to why they found it necessary to fly low and conduct aerobatics over built-up areas of Chonburi.

TiT......what's the kick in performing acrobatics over remote areas? blink.gif

  12. Christ..........where would you go if this would happen in your home country? Right.........asap to the police.

Get a Thai person and move down to Soi 9.

Explain the situation and get a bib to accompany you to your room and get a locksmith down there to gain access to the building. Do this only with the bib present!!

You might have to pay the bib, and for sure you have to pay the locksmith.

If anything is missing from your personal belongings, file a report. In the shop (which may be abandoned) police may find a possible address or copy of owners ID.
