  1. Drove home last night using Soi Khao Talo.

The Soi was a raging river streaming down hill.

Hard to keep my motorbike on course but luckily I could follow the pick up, which ploughed its way through the water.

After the "New Inn" / Aekmongkol IV it was slightly better.

  2. IMHO there is one important issue here in Thailand: One is guilty until proven not guilty.

In most Western countries it is the other way around.

The post regarding the complaint of noise-pollution in CNX has more to do with a right of every civilian, whether foreign or Thai.

  3. Given that I have been married to a Thai lady for 18 years and stayed with her for 5 years prior to getting married then I reckon I know full well that treatment of one against another is quite often different. I guess of all the 90 day reporters in Thailand some 80% or more have a Thai partner of one kind or another. If the Thai element of a partnership were to make the 90 day report on behalf of the foreigner then according to your criteria (or opinion) their respective 90 day reporting would be easier.

You may know how to treat a Thai and you may know how Thais treat each other, but you obviously don't know how Thais are treated by most government officials.......in 2 words: like shit. Most Thais who are aware of the treatment they get at Government offices don't like to go there or even do not want to get involved.

  4. The cop said "small motorbikes are not allowed on highway"

Wow, they could make a small fortune on a daily bases.

Every morning I pass at least 30-40 motorbikes between the beginning of #7 in Pattaya and Chonburi-By-Pass

  5. In Camfrog you can change the setting in a way, that people who are watching you are always on top of the list; so they do not only change color, they also move to the top of the list of participants in a room.

People who are watched by you, are in a separate list anyway.

  6. A few years ago, Immigration was still on Soi 8, I went to Immigration to ask for an extension pending my WP application.

At the immigration they found out, that I was 102 days on overstay. I wasn't aware of that (my former employer didn't inform me about the cancellation of an application for a WP which is the same as actually having a WP).

Anyway, 102 days overstay. The Immigration kindly asked me to come back the next day, with a receipt from Labor Department regarding the new WP-application and THB 20,000 overstay fine + THB 1900 for another 90 day extension, so that the WP-application could be finished properly. Everything with receipts, no tea-money, no jail, just nice and kind immigration-people.

  7. Papa David II will re-open after a low-season break on the 15th of November.

Papa David II is located on Soi Khao Talo opposite the Ayutthaya Bank (the yellow bank), near the new (and never opened) market.

The menu will be adjusted to potential customer on the Dark Side and the menu-prices will be attractive enough to stop preparing your own meals at home.

    Source: Papa David himself

BTW: Papa David I is located near the Hanuman Statue "roundabout" in Jomtien.

  8. I suppose you mean the provider and not the cell-phone shop.

    There are 4 major providers:

    - AIS

    - Dtac

    - Hutch

    - True

Don't know much about Hutch and True, but AIS and Dtac can be compared in terms of quality and coverage.

AIS services can be bought at Telewiz shops around town and Dtac has its owns outlets, same as True

  9. So I know for a fact I've never paid 1900 baht every 90 days, I've already got a 1 year ED visa so why would I need an extention.

I think the language used in the forums is incorrect.

Every 90 days you go to report not to EXTEND

I opened up my passport and the white slip that reads RECEIPT OF NOTIFICATION is also says THIS IS NOT AN EXTENSION OF STAY PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR ADDRES AGAIN ON 23 AUG 2011

so every 90 days you DONT pay 1900 baht to extend anything you go and REPORT YOUR ADDRESS

The stamp in my passport reads Admitted 28 Feb 2011 APPLICATION STAY IS PERMITTED 28 FEB 2012 that's one year

So why are people trying to tell me I need to pay 1900 baht every 90 days?

When I was part of a TEFL and language institute offering assistance in obtaining ED-visa our students had to visit Immigration every 90 days, with documents from our institute and a letter from the Ministry of Education, stating that the student was actually studying. Those 90 day visits were extension-visits and not report-visits and as said, every extension cost THB 1,900 (not every visit).

Nobody is telling you that you HAVE to go to immigration every 90 days for an extension, as long as you don't tell that it is normal that you get an ED-visa for a one-year stay.

  10. I can not understand farangs who live her make no real effort to learn Thai. If they did so they would never have any problems in this country

You may have a point there, but on the other hand an immigration-office (and its "inhabitants") deal mainly with foreigners...........wouldn't it appropriate to welcome or deal with foreigners in a general and Worldwide recognized way of communication? As far as I know, English is THE way to communicate Worldwide, isn't it?
