Moved to General, and probably to closure.

I don't know, Rose. I've been to many gay events where they know me by my real name, which is not The Doll. Parton me; do you call him Dollie? He's too cute for any other name. So...now I'm thinking...ISHOULD START A BIZNESS! Teaching people how to ride motorcycles! (If I knew how)...Blondie, have we met? -
Sell amulets and give away a rescued soi dog and a dead jingjok with each purchase. Or two amulets, a stuffed soi dog, and a hungry jingjok.

I lived in Nicaragua; Chiapas Mexico; toured Central America; visited Venezuela during their long General Strike.None is listed as Critical, Borderline, or In Danger list of 60 countries. Nor is Thailand.

Good luck, Rose....you call your grandfatherly partner The Doll?

If you park your bike wrong (for example on Niemanheimen during rush hour), police will wrap it in 113 kilos of chains and make you get to and from the police station to pay your fine. But roadblocks outside the border areas are easy; never been stopped except when helmetless.

Walt, thanks for correcting me. I knew that some paid tax on their SS pension. I didn't knpw it was that many. And those who fall into the 85% marginal bracket are being double-taxed, indeed. Pardon me for being too kind to my ex-employer. Blame Congress. Most retirees never pay one cent of US income tax on SS benefits. If they do, they're not being double-taxed.PeaceBlondie, that’s a little misleading – it's true that MOST SS recipients don't pay tax on their benefits, but about ONE THIRD do. You don't want to be seen as being too kind to Uncle Sam, do you? In other words, a lot of people pay income tax on their SS benefits.
According to the latest issue of Money magazine (Oct 2009, Vol 38, Num 10, p.90), currently about one third of Social Security recipients pay income tax on a portion of their benefits. If your total annual income, including benefits and even exempt interest on muni bonds, is greater than $32,000 ($25,000 for singles), up to 50% of your benefits are taxable. If your income is $44,000 ($34,000 for singles), then up to 85% of your benefits are taxable.
Check it out.

The average Thai never heard of the Nazi Holocaust, AFAIK. Few realize Thailand was occupied by Japan.

Thanks, but I stole it from my Texas buddy who started collecting jokes after his third master's degree.

Real Viagra lowers body blood pressure, I believe.

Because govt. school teachers must retire at 60, Thais think a teacher wears out after 50. I proved otherwise until I started losing chances to prove it. Good luck.

I apologize for using "Shitish Columbia.' Usually I only use Shitish to counteract "Septic." I object to straights insisting that a word made up and used by straights and homophobes is superior to gay. But hey, I'm fairly sure that Ian's not a homophobe. Nobody owns a language.

The trains usually leave BKK on time. They usually arrived late.

No reduction generally. The complex formula penalizes you if you or your spouse earned a pension outside of the FICA system. No penalty for investments, but maybe income tax on SS pension.I saw it mentioned that they reduce your benefit if you start drawing at age 62 but continue to get an income from work. Do they also reduce your benefit if you get an income from a private pension and investments? -
I'd beware of splattering Russians.with a splattering of Russians for good measure. -
I apologize for being so critical.Chunkton, you have repeatedly misquoted both me and mapguy, and shown a basic lack of understanding English. AFAIK, neither of us prefers Prem nor plugs it.There is no straight order among international schools in Chiang Mai. Nothing is clear. Generally, they are all vastly superior to the other schools. This is a terrible country to buy education cheaply. I'm sorry but that's the truth.
OK, thanks for that, no obvious pecking order of Int Schools, all are what they purport to be.
I can only apologise that my obviously limited education doesn't arm me with the tools to adequately comprehend English.

Don't stop me if you've heard this before
Two Texans are out hunting, and as they are walking along they come upon a huge hole in the ground. They approach it and are amazed by the size of it.
The first hunter says "Wow, that's some hole; I can't even see the bottom. I wonder how deep it is."
The second hunter says" I don't know, let's throw something down and listen and see how long it takes to hit bottom."
The first hunter says "There's this old automobile transmission here, give me a hand and we'll throw it in and see".
So, they pick it up and carry it over, and count "one, and two and three" and throw it in the hole. They are standing there listening and looking over the edge when they hear a rustling in the brush behind them. As they turn around, they see a goat come crashing through the brush, run up to the hole and, with no hesitation, it plunged in head first.
While they are standing there looking at each other, looking in the hole and trying to figure out what that was all about, an old farmer walks up.
"Say there",says the farmer, "you fellers didn't happen to see my goat around here anywhere, did you?"
The first hunter says " Funny you should ask, but we were just standing here a minute ago and a goat came out of the bushes doin' about a hunert miles an hour and jumped head first into this hole here!"
The old farmer, confused, says "why that's impossible, I had him chained to an old transmission!"

serially, there used to be a go kart track south of Kao Takiab. Signs on the highway south of the fly over

We don't all live in Bangkok. Why does anybody drive in Thailand?Transportation is easily available.Bangkok is a cab town,I think you have to be a little"nuts" to drive in Bangkok. -
My comment about Lanna being closer is geographical to Hang Dong, not a reference to Grace's Christian doctrines.

Two points.
Overseas SS recipients can only work less than 45 hours per MONTH before FRA. For any month you tell SSA you worked more HOURS regardless of salary, SSA cuts your ENTIRE month's check. http://www.ssa.gov/pubs/10137.html page down to Foreign work test.
Most retirees never pay one cent of US income tax on SS benefits. If they do, they're not being double-taxed.
