Plans underway for no-mask requirement in Thailand’s public parks
Cleareye replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
A lot of people don't mask up in the park or else they wear a mask but pull it down to breathe. The rules are confusing but the guards don't seem to care either way. I also wish they'd unblock the gazebos so people can sit down. -
Thailand’s liquor vendors want 2-5pm alcohol sales ban revoked
Cleareye replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Was that law really introduced in 1972? I thought it was implemented in 2006 after the first coup. I remember them shutting down morning sales at the grocery store anyway. -
Bear in mind, the number of retirement visa holders (sic) fell from 85,000 in 2018 to 35,000 last year. The elite visa program meanwhile has only manged to sell 16,000 elite visa and it can't possibly be covering the costs of administering the program. Basically, all this government is good at is driving out foreigners. It does that very well, however.

Why not gold then? At least it's a store of value. -
Anutin: Thailand's handling of the pandemic "best in the world"
Cleareye replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Did you forget Taksin wanted to close all the bars at 10 p.m.? And implement "entertainment zones." -
That's no longer true. In Israel, more than 60 percent of hospitalizations are fully vaxxed and countries with the highest vaccination rates also seem to have the highest case counts (France, Israel, U.S., etc). Interesting to compare Israel and Palestine, for instance. Just about the same level of deaths per capita although Israel is fully vaxxed while Palestine is only about 36 percent. Most of Africa has very low vaccination rates and yet case counts and deaths are relatively low. Clearly, there are many factors at work besides vaccination rates. That doesn't mean you shouldn't get the vaccine but it is an argument against mandates. T

Reacher -- It's on Amazon, 8 episodes. Jack Reacher finally gets a filmed rendition worthy of the books. -

Make sure you're not downloadinjg the cam or TS version -- they're usually recordings made by some gamling website. -
I had two implants -- total cost implant + crown was 110,000, although I was quoted prices much higher than that at the big, touristy clinics. I didn't have the bone grafts, which kept the cost down. The implants are better than dentures or having two missing teeth and supposedly will last a lifetime if you take care of them. I can eat normally and the face looks normal as well so for me it was worth it.

Big Decision: Which Asian country is ideal for foreign retirees?
Cleareye replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You can't retire in Japan unless you're married to a Japanese. Marriage visas are easy to get but there's no retirement visa program. Plus it's expensive, the Japanese don't like foreigners, and few people speak much English. -
Agent recommendations in Bangkok?
Cleareye replied to Mikeheo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Grace was temporarily detained by the police over allegations of visa forgery and marijuana cultivation. All of the visas handled by Thai Visa Centre were then officially checked and validated. Grace went back to work, all charges dropped apparently. -

PM Reasserts 20-Year Strategic Plan for Betterment of Thailand
Cleareye replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Apparently, the purpose of the 20 year strategy is to accomplish as little as possible while making yourself and your cronies as rich as possible. If that's the case, it's succeeding admirably. -

I heard people were deliberately getting covid in order to get lump sum payments in the neighborhood of 200,000 baht.
