  1. I Don't really understand some of the comments here. What he did was wrong forget about his age, he should get life. As any other person would.

No it wasn't wrong . It's just some stupid laws that makes it illegal. Coke should be legal & availlable to whomever wants to use it.

Tell that to the people who fell foul of the thieving and other crimes......by those who make their living by burglary, mugging, car theft, and fuelling crime including prostitution, from addiction. And anything else to feed their habit which they can't afford the daily price of the hit.

Yes it was wrong, behind your passive ignorant acceptance is a world of criminality.

Make coke legal, you must be having a laugh! or most probably you don't have a clue! why the authorities are unlikely to ever make Coke legal!

  2. ...where is this 'step-by-step' account coming from.....

...do we even know the 'inhaler' was his.....

...and does anybody die from an asthma attack.....

    ...case closed....

...no blood test or toxicology report.......???

From this article there is a risk for a fatal attack for Astma sufferers. And is not only possible but common place.

  3. Below is based on Global retirement index, Thailand no 10 and Spain no 7:

    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/the-best-countries-to-retire-in-2015-170424541.html

Spain can be cold during the winters so as mentioned, if one can afford to share the time between the 2 countries that would be ideal.

If you can live in Thailand as a Thai, eating Thai food only, Thailand will be cheaper to live in(I can't, LOL).

I don't know what cars/bikes cost in Spain? If you stick with Thai made cars/bike the price is cheap for me here in Thailand.

I work in oil off-shore and pay 0% tax here in Thailand and save app 30-40% of my income for retirement, not possible if living in Spain.

A speeding violation in car/bike is about 500-1000baht here, it would likely be the same in Spain but in Euros, he-he.

As a EU citizen many advantages of living in Spain as mentioned: Stay as long as you like, no visa's to worry about.

Buy a house and own it 100%, no bullshit as here.

Easy to tour EU from Spain.

    And so on.

Best to go there and look around, check the prices yourself and see if you like it generally.

Except Spain is notorious for building houses with no planning permission, building on land not fit for building on. Houses bearing illegal land papers, beware! many people migrating have been ripped off,and forget the EEC,they will not get your money back.

  4. MILITARY PENSION

Could i also ask here, are the rules the same for my UK Military Pension

If i marry a Thai lady

Is she entitled to half my Pension when i go to heaven

    Thanks

See my comments above regarding date of marriage to a Thai woman.

My experience with a widows army pension has not been good. Although she was married to her late husband for 7 years, the marriage took place after he ceased service in the army and was already in receipt of his army pension. Her widows pension was less than 15% of his. Not a happy lady, especially as her husband had assured her she would receive 50%

15% is considerably more than her own country would give her for a pension! they expect nothing much from the Thai Government, but huge payments from Foreign Governments!

  5. It takes a man to stand up for himself in the west here in thaiway takes a mob, a proud nation indeed.

Are you sure ? I read many news stories from the 'west' reporting mob attacks on an individual. Happens all over the world.

BANG! straight in at #8 the "happens all over the world".... the new predictable crap to replace "quality tourist".....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    "happens all over the world"

It's the catchall answer, when you don't have an answer !

  6. Having worked on the land when I was younger I don't so much feel lucky, rather I have a great deal of empathy with those working in the rice fields (be they Thai or, very often unregistered ethnic minority Thais / immigrant workers).

Bent over all day planting or harvesting is extremely hard work, the hardest work I've ever done, made harder of course by exposure to the elements.

I wonder what a Thai field worker would have thought had they seen the younger version of GH picking potatoes in frosty ground?

2 Shilling a bag, depending on the Potato size!

  7. Anyone who constantly berates the UK for their stance on immigration should use this as a good example of what happens when the migrants get too strong, they just take what they want, and foist themselves on the people of another country who do not want them, regardless of the countries laws, and they are economic and not even genuine migrants escaping from tyranny in their own country!as someone once said: the road to hell is paved with good intentions!

  8. Thanks for the replies guys, didn't realise asking for your passport as a deposit was actually illegal! In that case no problem, I will keep it for that purpose.

I've tried to refuse giving it a couple of times, but never worked! And switching to another shop is not easy if you're renting +600cc bikes.

Unlike in the US, where I'm from they just send us the new passport and tell us to cut a corner off the old passport to make it invalid by ourselves.

Yes and they cut the corner off UK Passports in the UK before they return them. It's also doubtful the worth of an expired Passport,as the International front page is in English/Thai,so not too difficult to read!

They don't cut the corners off them when renewed from here; they don't have them to cut the corners off.

So are you saying:you do not have to include your old Passport in your application for a new UK Passport? applied for from Thailand???

  10. Believe me, KLM is the wiser. Processing 10 (5 x 2) credits will lead to an audit. One might be charged with significant crimes (fraud).

I'm surprised that KLM's systems allow this to happen but even so I cant see that any crime is being committed.

You book a seat and you cancel, in full accordance with the T&Cs. Where's the fraud?

I don't see how a passenger can even book and check in 3 seats with one passenger name, never mind cancel on boarding.

    MAJIC

    Exactly what I was thinking.
